Good: got me in quickly for a cleaning and tooth repair. Very flexible with appointment hours…read more Reception is friendly. Waiting room is clean. Accepted my insurance. Dentist tells you in advance what insurance will cover, kinda. Got a great tooth cleaning. Repaired a tooth with excellent results. Bad: got a bill from Clovis Crossing then got a check from my insurance so I had to make another visit to give CC my insurance check. Got several calls from CC (and I keep getting them) asking to pay my bill. I never had to physically pay a bill with my previous dentist. Dentist recommended treatments that were over $100. I felt like it was a scare tactic. I didn't feel those recommendations were necessary. Hygienist numbed my whole mouth for the cleaning. Never had that done before. I was desperate to get my tooth repaired so my co-worker recommended CC. I'll probably do one more cleaning then look for another dentist.

Appointment Date: December 3, 2025 It has taken me several…read moredays to process my experience at this office so I could provide an honest, thoughtful review that may help future and current patients make a mindful and informed decision. Unfortunately, my visit revealed serious concerns regarding professionalism, communication, patient rights, and the overall clinical environment. I arrived at 12:55 p.m. for a 1:00 p.m. appointment and was not seen until 1:40 p.m., with the procedure concluding at approximately 2:20 p.m. I had clearly communicated that I had an interview at 2:45 p.m., yet time management, consideration, and respect for my schedule were noticeably lacking. From the moment I entered, I had an uneasy intuition about the atmosphere. After later examining recent online reviews, especially on Yelp, I noticed several patients describing similar patterns of pressure and unprofessional conduct. One review specifically mentioned feeling pushed into accepting Nitrous Oxide, and my experience mirrored that almost exactly. During my interactions with Dr. Anstey, his dental assistant who never introduced himself, Brenda, and Leslie, I consistently felt pressured, dismissed, and deprived of meaningful patient autonomy. I declined Nitrous Oxide multiple times not because I was unable or unwilling to pay the fee, but because I prefer local anesthesia, value being fully aware of my surroundings, and wanted to make an informed choice about my own health. Instead of respecting this decision, several staff members attempted to override it, repeatedly insisting that declining Nitrous Oxide would make the procedure more difficult. At no point did anyone provide a thorough explanation of the root canal process, the risks, alternatives, or what to expect, all of which are essential components of informed consent and ethical care. The tone of the appointment shifted immediately after I first said no. The dental assistant told me that I was "changing the procedure" by declining Nitrous Oxide, implying that I was making their job harder. This was unprofessional, unnecessary, and heightened my anxiety throughout what was already a stress-inducing procedure. No patient should feel coerced or guilted for making a reasonable medical decision, especially regarding a sedative that has lingering effects and requires safety considerations regarding driving afterward. I also want to highlight the conduct of a receptionist whose name I did not get. After briefly looking at my patient file and billing information, she told me to wait until the dentist could speak with me. The way this was handled made me feel like I could not leave the situation, even after I expressed discomfort and a desire to reschedule. It added to the sense that my "no" was not being heard or respected. When a patient expresses uncertainty or declines a treatment option, they should feel supported--not trapped or pressured into continuing. While Leslie was professional, attentive, and communicative and I genuinely appreciated her tone and approach but that doesn't take away from the overall experience which was disorganized, boundary-crossing, and dismissive of patient rights. Brenda attempted to facilitate but was frequently in and out of the room, contributing to the confusion and lack of clarity. The most concerning part of this visit was that I had to repeat my "no" to at least five different staff members. Repeating myself this many times should never be necessary in a medical environment. The root canal itself is already an anxiety-provoking procedure, yet the staff made the experience significantly worse by failing to inform me clearly, failing to respect my decisions, and failing to prioritize my comfort, understanding, and safety. I ultimately completed the root canal without Nitrous Oxide, but no patient should endure 40 minutes of feeling anxious, unsafe, unheard, and pressured. Even when I offered to reschedule or return on another day, I was discouraged from leaving. My right to withdraw consent or postpone treatment was not respected, and that is deeply troubling. I proceeded to complete my treatment with the root canal using local anesthesia and made the payment as fast as I could then left. I advise prospective patients to review recent experiences carefully before choosing this office. High ratings can be misleading, and the newer reviews reflect concerns that closely align with what I experienced. No patient should leave a dental office feeling dismissed, pressured, or distressed. Unfortunately, that is exactly how I left.

I called their office and left a message and no one called me back. I also emailed them and someone did respond and I called the number and email and left another message. I waited 3 days for a call back because I was in pain and I needed a dental care right away. When I called back, the first thing out of their mouth, they were not taking one insurance and needed my insurance information before they could book the appointment. Just to be clear I do have dental insurance and actually have supplemental dental insurance through USAA. I called my insurance companies and confirmed the dental plan that I had. I called back again. It has been two weeks since I called and I never called back. Ended up going back to a previous dentist who got me in right away and I will post a review on them. This review is not for their dental service, but the fact that their office staff doesn't even take the time to ask why are you calling and is there anything we can help you with. Plus they don't return phone calls.

After explaining that a crown is needed he got to work preparing the tooth to accept the crown. Assisted by a wonderful young lady Ayannah they numbed me up and before I knew it Ayannah was making a temporary crown right there next to me. After a few adjustments she glued the temp in place like she's been doing it for 20 years. Everyone who worked on me today was very professional and made me feel as if I was in the best hands. After today I know Dr Kawano and his awesome assistants like Ayannah and his Son Derek (who shares the practice) are at the top of their field. Crazy Bernie is now a HUGE fan of Kawano Dental!!!

This is going to be an unnecessary long post…read more My first visit was on 12/30/25. I was looking for a dentist near me and planned on taking my girls so they can see that going to the dentist isn't scary! After booking my appointment, I then went on Yelp to look at the reviews and thought "crap! They have several bad reviews". But I already set my appointment so there was no going back. Technically there was, but with my schedule, there wasn't time. So the day of, the girls ended up taking a nap right before my appointment so they ended up staying home. Fail moment! Checking in was a breeze! Jordan answered all my "dumb questions" without any judgement and made me feel like there wasn't any dumb questions. Which we all know there are, but I'm glad she made me feel valid! The gal walked me to the back and listened to my long story of the last time I was at the dentist was 10 years ago and it was the most horrible experience ever and how now I'm just always anxious! Which was nice that my kids didn't have to see me pretend to put in a brave face. She made me feel heard the whole time and would stop to ask if there was anything she can do to make me feel less anxious. After all of the X-Rays and cleaning the Dr came in and went over them. Im not going to lie, he's a little awkward but he's trying. Anyways, I think the one feedback I can give them is to explain that procedures will be another day. The whole time he was talking I thought we were going to get it done that day. Anyways, I left feeling great! Sucks that I have to go back for fillings and a crown. So today 01/19/26 I went in for my fillings! Dr. Is still awkward but I can live with that! Y'all! Let me tell you! He has gentle hands! He started off with numbing my teeth! I'm still anxious AF, I don't think I ever won't be from past experience, but it was painless! My pain tolerance is low! (Side note: I got the epidural at 3 cm, so you know my tolerance is low). When he said he was going to add more, I was delighted because I didn't want to feel any cuts if there was going to be any or any drilling. If I needed him to stop he would stop, he took his time and didn't rush. I almost took a nap during the process, thankfully I didn't! I left with no cuts, feeling a less anxious, sucks that I still have more procedures coming up, but this is what happens when you don't go to the dentist often. Anyways, I can live with awkwardness as long as my teeth are taken care of gently! I'll keep updating since I have to go back for the other side and get a crown! to see if I still feel the same way as my two experiences.

I moved to Coarsegold from the Bay Area and hadn't yet identified a new dentist. It started the night a veneer fell off, front and center of my smile, the night before flying out for an important event the next morning. Panicked, I reached out to Dr. Ohanesian and to my amazement, he texted me back (at 11PM!) and had me come in before normal working hours in order to squeeze me in. He completely saved the day! I just went back to take care of a couple of things and just can't say enough regarding how kind, patient, compassionate, funny, and what a great dentist he is. Making a living is of course important, but he is clearly not in it just for the money. This man clearly loves what he does. He has integrity. He encourages saving teeth when possible instead of more profitable alternatives, goes at your pace financially, and is super respectful --He goes above and beyond to best serve his patients, and every member of his staff is equally nice! You rarely see this anymore-- The bar is high here : ) Thank you for being my dentist, Dr. Jack!

No pain medication helped, and it was clear the tooth was badly infected. First thing Monday morning, I searched for dental offices open on holiday (Martin Luther King), and his office was the closest available. From the very first moment, I felt taken care of. Rosa at the front desk was incredibly kind and compassionate, she truly understood my situation and welcomed me in immediately. The entire experience was exceptional. I felt no pain from the injections and no pain during the extraction itself. I honestly couldn't believe it. At one point I even asked, "Is it all done?" -- and when he said "Yes," I was so relieved I started laughing. The tooth was severely infected, and extraction was the only option, but the process was completely smooth and stress-free. This office delivers professionalism, compassion, skill, and true patient care. I strongly recommend Dr. Ohanesian and his team to anyone looking for excellent dental care, especially in an emergency situation. You will be in the best hands.
