The hotel itself is beautiful and has a full 5 star food court that is so convenient if you are looking for a quick bite to take back to the room. The food catered at the ceremony was wonderful. It's remarkable to see how much the Charlotte skyline has changed over the past seven years, and this hotel is clearly part of that evolution. My wife and I ended up here unexpectedly after our flight was canceled due to an incoming snowstorm. Since the JW Marriott wasn't open during my last visit to Charlotte, I made a point to stay here during this short, unplanned stop. We arrived late on a Friday night, which didn't leave much time to explore the hotel's amenities, but the stay still left a strong impression--both good and not-so-good. The guest rooms are sleek, modern, and undeniably luxurious, with a sophisticated design that feels appropriate for a newer urban JW property. The glass shower was spacious and attractive, though oddly there was no body wash provided, and the drain was clogged--small details, but noticeable at this level. The mattress, unfortunately, was extremely firm--uncomfortably so for me--and made for a restless night. Because our luggage was still stuck at the airport, we requested several basic toiletries. Despite assurances, they never arrived. On the positive side, room service is available 24 hours, and the food was excellent--fresh, well-prepared, and delivered promptly. The Executive Lounge is also a standout: beautifully designed and offering a strong breakfast spread that made the morning far more enjoyable. Ben at the front desk the next morning deserves special mention. He was attentive, professional, and genuinely responsive in addressing the issues we experienced the night before, which helped restore some confidence in the stay. One lingering question: I don't quite understand why an urban hotel charges a Daily Destination Fee. While the fee can be offset with credits toward room service or dining, it still felt out of place for a downtown business-oriented property. I've stayed at JW Marriotts in several other cities and have consistently found their service to be a strength. That's why I was surprised that service here didn't quite meet those expectations. I felt genuinely welcomed from the moment I checked in -- the staff set the tone for an amazing stay right away. The lobby bar has a great energy and is one of the nicest I've experienced, perfect for relaxing or meeting up before heading out. The guest rooms are exactly what I expect as a Marriott Platinum member who travels a lot: high-quality finishes, extremely comfortable beds and pillows, and a design that feels intentional and premium. Beautiful hotel in the heart of Charlotte! I was only here for one night for a conference but I had a fantastic stay! We landed late in the evening like past midnight but we were warmly greeted by the front desk staff. Apparently other rooms were booked so they upgraded us to executive rooms which came with access to the lounge. Unfortunately we didn't have time to check it out but they serve breakfast there as well as snacks throughout the day. The rooms themselves were stunning, with lots of space, and very comfortable. Honestly wish I had stayed more than one night! The conference I went to was actually at the same hotel and that was wonderful as well! Again great staff, beautiful conference rooms, and surprisingly the food they served was also pretty good too! After checking out we were hanging out in the lobby just killing time before heading to the airport but the lovely lady at the front desk made sure to check on us and even offered some water. No one from the hotel reads or care about these reviews, but here it goes for the consumer's knowledge. In addition to my other review, I have a new experience. We left a phone charger and adapter plugged into our first room (our bad). When we returned to the hotel a few days later, we asked if they found it. They couldn't get in touch with the lost and found people to see if it was located. Instead, they gave me a website to log in to and report it lost. I told them we were flying out and couldn't come back to get it. They informed me they would ship it. Well, sure enough, I received notification that they found it. The kicker is, they wanted $45-$133 dollars to ship it. Are you serious? The lady made it seem like they would ship it for free. No way in Hell I'm paying to have a silly phone cord mailed to me. The hotel staff here needs serious updated customer service training. The one person at the hotel I would give 5 stars to is, May. May was wonderful. One of my favorite hotels to do my staycation. Deans is good not my favorite steak house in the city but the bar scene is always energetic on the weekend. We stumbled into the JW Marriott at 11 pm after our flight was cancelled. We were tired and upset. Hanaa was working the front desk and took such amazing care of us!! She was empathetic and kind, offered us tons of toiletries since we did have any of our luggage then came up to make up the sofa bed for us. She offered us such amazing service that it lifted our mood and made the delay more bearable. I Would definitely stay here again thanks to her! read more

While the hotel is convenient it lacks basic comforts for the price point and causes frustration at checkout. Recently stayed here for a couple nights on a work trip. The bed is very firm and the pillows provide zero support to the point your head just lays on the mattress. Additionally, I checkout I received room charges for Dean's Bar in which I never visited during the stay. This is probably a waiter or hotel staff problem that they should check ID to verify the occupant of the room before applying charges. Either way, frustrating to talk to an AI, then wait on hold, then wait another 3-5 days for them to correct their mistake..... will not stay here again, and do not recommend. read more

My third year in a row staying from a Thursday to Tuesday stint during the summer to attend a convention across the street...so time to write something. Also, we stayed here on points, so honestly we just had to pay for the fees, taxes, and valet parking. I've traveled to the area for two decades now and have stayed a multiple locations including the Westin across the street and also the Courtyard about two blocks away. Let's start with the staff....they have always been solid. From the valet workers to the front desk, the cleaning staff to the person that drops off towels at the door when your wife and daughter use them all up on you, they have always been very courteous to us. Special shout out to Colson of the valet staff; you did solid work for us sir. Also, the whole morning breakfast crew...y'all made my wife's day when you went out of your way for her to receive some gluten free bread for her breakfast, so thank you. Side note - Tip your staff for good service. It means the world to them. The rooms are laid out nice, but two queen beds would be nicer if they were kings...just saying. Also, just bring your own pillow...there is no substitute. The beds are a little on the stiff side for my liking. However, sleeping is never an issue and also the walls are really well insulated as I've never heard a neighbor above or on the sides of us. The bathroom is really nice, just wish there was a fan to pull some of the hot air out after a shower. The place is super convenient, being right in the heart of uptown. You are in walking distance from really everything. Museums, the stadium, ball park, convention center, restaurants, shopping, light rail...it's all really close by. The parking garage is nice having it attached to the hotel, but pay the valet fee, otherwise it's murder trying to get your luggage unloaded as the only elevator drops you off outside and you cannot bring it all around the building easily...trust me. Also, don't try and unload it in the parking garage and bring it down the ramps....did that, it's such a steep decline down the ramp that it's murder on you. Again, just pay the valet fee. It's about $48 per day, so save up :) The new destination charge of $25 a day this time around was not a real welcome addition. The front wait staff will let you know that they have added a fee and they give you a $25 credit to use a their way of saying thank you, but honestly, I didn't even use it but once. The credit could only be used at the coffee station downstairs or at the eatery in the lobby, and with breakfast being served in the lounge, it just seemed like a wasted effort. They did give you free tickets to 3 local museums to try, so "A" for effort. So basically, we just ate the new fee. Also...why? What was so big special that they now whack a destination charge now. I've stayed at hotels in Charlotte for 20 years now, at the same rough time of the year, and this was a first...moving on.... The rooftop pool is nice, but the closing hours stink. It needs to be open later IMO... If you are out for dinner and want to come back and enjoy some swimming time, then it closes at 8 PM and you have to wait until tomorrow. Otherwise it is a beautiful space with a great view. I feel we just can't take full advantage of it as compared to other Marriott properties close by. The rooftop pool looked like a fun place to hang out if you were again a couple or with a group of friends, but for the typical family it's just something to see and move on from. The gym is nice and they have quite a lot of stuff in there. The steakhouse downstairs was a pass for us. We tried dinner there in the past, and the four of us were not wowed by the experience. We simply had higher expectations. Overall, it's a trendy spot, but if you have a family member(s) with food allergies, or just want to try something other than a steak, this one might be a pass. I wouldn't count that as negative toward the hotel stay in any way though. That was our experience... Maybe just go try a great steak and enjoy it for yourself. The oyster bar on the second floor is really nice and has a good vibe for locals and couples. While I've never eaten there, we enjoyed passing by. The lounge for those families that are traveling has replaced what was your typical lobby. The area has plenty of space and is open late so my family and I could always sneak down and play cards or just relax. The drink stations are a huge plus. The breakfast is usually really good, and the evening time specials are a nice touch for the business persons staying there. Overall, pretty solid. All in all, it's a very comfortable stay. It's a beautiful place in a great location in the heart of everything. I won't comment on the price, other than to say it is a pricier hotel, so take that into consideration.The fact of the matter is we really enjoy the stay there each year, and we cannot wait for our next visit. read more

Absolutely love this hotel, but the pool was freezing! One of the reasons we selected is hotel was for the kids to play in the water and that did not happen. A solid big name hotel for staying in Charolette. Coming in valet parking was super easy, and it was nice to see the "text for your car" tickets for when it was time to leave. I have seen that twice in my recent travels, it seems to work really well here. Check in was easy. The room was roomy with a lot of surface area which can be an issue for some stays elsewhere. I had breakfast in the onsite at Dean's Italian Steakhouse, and that was a great way to get back on the road quickly. Overall, I was impressed. I am not sure how new the place is, but it certainly sports a brand-new feel and that alone makes for a comfortable stay. read more

We stayed here recently for a quick 48 hrs in Charlotte. Staff was friendly and efficient. Room was clean and spacious. We were able to walk across the street to the African American exhibit and eat at Deans Steak house. There is also a roof top restaurant and bar, but the weather prevented us from stopping in. They were able to accommodate a late check out for us and offer extended access to the "Executive Lounge" until we left for our flight. Elevators were savage and close very quick, so beware. I was here for 4 days recently and was pleased that it's a new property. What's there is exceptional but it's what's missing that was noteworthy. Yes, I realize that COVID had a huge impact on the hotel industry and I'm tempered my expectations accordingly. Everyone was wonderful - especially Nancy in the executive lounge. What didn't I like? No mini-bar No pen or paper in room No room service Shower door handle was broken Ice machine was only on the 6th floor (I was on the 16th) Two of the six dresser drawers would not open I will say again that these are all first-world problems and we are just exiting a pandemic but I think it's time to apply pre-COVID standards again and for a hotel like JW Marriott, I was a little disappointed. read more

Booked on their website directly. I needed two beds in one room due to the number of people. They only had king beds available! They said there was a room with two beds but it wasn't clean. They offered to cancel our reservation, but it was already 1am and we were tired so we just took it. Water pressure is awful. Can't use the sink and shower at the same time because the shower gets cold. Tv was broken; it kept randomly shutting off. No real solution for their poor planning of our sleeping quarters. Charlotte has become one of the hopping cities on the east coast, with great food, awesome drinks, and beautiful scenery. Really excited to try the JW Marriott as it's one of the luxury hotels in downtown Charlotte. Located about 20 min from the airport, it's a fairly quick trip. Parking is expensive (as all cities are), but you can get lucky with street parking. The lobby is definitely not the largest, the hotel is more vertical than it is wide. However, front desk staff is very friendly and even tried to see if we could get into the rooftop bar before it closed. 2nd floor lounge is small but well setup, breakfast was very good. The rooms themselves are modern and spacious, large bathroom, luxurious bath products, and dreamy beds. There is a decent view of Charlotte, but it is off to the side of downtown so won't beat some of the taller hotel views. Internet and everything else worked fine. Overall, highly recommended to stay. read more

Parking is paid at a premium, but securely stored. The vibe of the place of Top Shelf with an executive lounge boasting snacks, drinks, evening hors d'oeuvres and full hot breakfast. Valet couldn't drive a stick. Housekeeping couldn't/wouldn't make returning a left item (coat) easy and was very overcharged to return. The concierge gave terrible directions to an amazing restaurant (that we found ourselves and had us drenched in the rain, ( thankful the place was actually amazing and they were exceptionally accommodating) since Deans wasn't?open ( we were given miss information that it was open till 11) or couldn't accommodate us unless we sat at the bar (oyster restaurant) . I stayed at the JW marriott during a conference due to its amazing proximity to the conference center. It's located at the same corner as one side of the convention center, with the main entrance just one block over. The hotel is a JW marriott and a certain level of luxury Is expected. While the facilities largely met these expectations, the service was dismal and did not respond properly to issues. The beds were comfortable, furnishings updated and modern, etc. I requested someone to fix my cooler / mini fridge which was not functioning despite an adjustment to the settings. There was no response in the app for 30 min, so i called down. No one ever came to fix this issue. Having Marriott status usually results in some benefits, but I was told without hesitation that no upgraded rooms were available and that late checkout was "not an option" ...then i asked again later and magically it was an option. Not sure if inconsistently is a positive or negative here. Lastly i was given a room that faced a tall grey wall. What. A. View. Overall the facilities were fine but it did not meet expectations on service, and seemed easily overwhelmed by a conference (which i assume is a frequent occurrence given its location). read more

The location is amazing! The spa is top notch. I loved everything about my time there. It was relaxing! Check in is quite easy. The only issue is parking costing quite a bit but it is downtown. I've stayed twice... the first time the rooftop bar wasn't opened. You have to have reservations to even sit there. Luckily it was a party of two and we made our way to order appetizers. The pool is not very resort like. It's small and the cabanas are overpriced for the size. There are 2 nice restaurants attached to the hotel and I've tried both. I visit charlotte often and stay at another hotel but it was sold out during the Beyoncé concert so I stayed here...it did not disappoint!! Your treated like a celebrity but the staff. They are extremely attentive. The hotel was clean, upscale and beautiful. Restaurants attached to it are an added plus. Also, the proximity to the Bank of America stadium is not bad. Be prepared to drive around the block a couple of times in Uptown Charlotte. There is no ENTER or EXIT sign directing guests of where to turn into the Valet area of the Hotel. Mentioned this to an employee working in the Valet area and he agreed, there is no ENTER or EXIT sign. It's chaos. These guys are forced to stand out there and over direct guests on where to turn in because guests are clueless and frustrated. Staff did an amazing job given the level of chaos. Not a good way to treat staff by JW Marriott by creating undue stressful situations that could easily be prevented. Clearly they are not listening to staff feedback. Brought this to the attention of the Owner. They don't see a problem with current signage or lack there of. See the attached response. It's a state of the art hotel with NO "ENTER" sign. They have no plans in adding one. I will not be back. First place award though for best hidden Hotel Entrance on a busy, one way, city street. Too bad this is the guests first experience upon arriving at the JW Marriott in Uptown Charlotte, NC. Horrible. I expect better. Communication is the key and they failed miserably. Fantastic property in super convenient location! This property is also definitely not short staffed! We chose to valet our car with 3 gentleman helping with our bags and such. We walked in to a pristine lobby and we're checked in immediately, with the associate waking us to the elevators to explain the amenities plus show us how they worked. There are restaurants, bars and a spa on site. Our room was incredible and the bathroom was a very convenient and desirable layout. The only downfall was that the water escaped the shower onto the bathroom floor. We slept great, and will definitely return to this property! read more

We visited Charlotte NC and this was the hotel I chose and I am glad I did. It sits in downtown Charlotte within walking distance to all the great attractions like the Panthers Football Stadium, the Convention center and great restaurants. The hotel is more vertical than horizontal so be careful because you might miss it and the hotel entry is not completely clear while driving. The hotel has front door valet to assist with getting your bags to your room. The hotel is loaded with 3 restaurants and a rooftop bar with pool access. The room was amazing with a great view of the pool however, there is still a lot of construction going on in the area. The March weather was a little to cold for the pool but, I wish we could have enjoyed it. The full length windows, amazing bathroom with separate shower door and toilet door were perfect. The refrigerator was stocked with bottled waters. The front staff was friendly and the elevator only allows you to use your room card to access your floor which I found out after hopping on the elevator with another guest who was also going up and it did not take me to my floor so, I had to go to the lobby and start from scratch. The ice machine is on the 6floor. The parking garage is not owned by the hotel so I believe parking ran us about $20 -25 per day. I will definitely return to Charlotte & this resort style hotel. read more

We are staying at this JW until Monday, here for business. However the service is definitely lacking and rude if you complain about anything. So this morning the housekeeper was eager to clean the room that she even wake up us knocking five times even though we had the do not disturb sign at the door. When we went downstairs I told the front desk about so she probably got mad about it that she didn't make our room up, by the time we got back late this evening after meetings all day long and wanted to take a shower and relax. We get to find the room all a mess and no clean towels, plus the TP and the box of cleaners were taken out of the room as well. I'm not sure how this hotel operates but this is worse than a Motel. Yesterday it was the valet parking people, we scan the barcode 25 minutes before going downstairs and we get there and nothing, however I noticed a few other people just went and ask for their vehicle without scanning the barcode and they got theirs vehicles way before ours. When I went and I asked the young man about my vehicle he mentioned that it was a mistake and he will get it right away, however those other people were white and of course we are two professional Hispanics. I believe this one to many incidents even after getting a call from the management during the day, the incident still went unanswered. We still got two more days here at Charlotte, however I don't believe we will finish our stay at this want be luxury hotel. The room is definitely nice but that's what we are paying for and the location is perfect, but I will never make the mistake of staying here again. RACE IS DEFINITELY A FACTOR HERE. Update; come back tonight and my TP is gone again and the handle on the sink cabinet is now falling off and a black hair on one of the towels. Went downstairs to let management know and the four people at the front desk were like sir " we can assure you that everything is been address" funny thing is that it just getting worse. They mentioned that they will send someone to the room, however it's been an hour and nothing. We really can't believe that this a JW Marriott, this a shame of hotel. read more

Beautiful new hotel! Very hospitable employees, especially Erin in the Executive Lounge, Minho at the front desk, and Tyler at Dean's Italian Steakhouse. Nice perks for Bonvoy Platinum Elite members, such as access to large Executive Lounge with pleasant atmosphere and delicious food and drinks. Nice location within walking distance to several restaurants and with beautiful views of city buildings. The plants in the lobby and the pool area, and the fireplace and sofas in the Executive Lounge created a serene environment. Our favorite employee was Erin in the Executive Lounge, who had such a nice personality and really seemed to enjoy serving and creating a relaxing environment for the guests. Very nice new hotel. The rooftop bar and pool has great views and nice shade. Loved the floor to ceiling windows in our corner room - great views of the Panthers stadium and uptown buildings. The room was nicely decorated with comfy furniture.... Just wish the beds weren't as hard. Dean's restaurant downstairs is very nice - you can order room service to bring up food from there too. Nice shady patio on street level for Dean's, but didn't appear open when we were there. The executive club is a nice little spot to relax and work. Coffee machine, beverages and snacks there too. Friday, September 13th around 10:50am my pregnant wife and I parked in valet where they were great, but it was immediately ruined upon walking in and being greeted by Courtney as if we ruined her day walking in. Courtney rudely greeted us with "what do you want?" Courtney was doing paperwork and she asked me to wait, 3 minutes later as if she forgot why I was there Courtney proceeded to ask "what do you want?" Once again. As my pregnant wife was extremely overwhelmed by her rudeness Courtney proceeds to tell us that our room wouldn't be ready anytime soon, no ETA or an attempt to give us a time. I went and sat in the lobby to finish some emails and watched Courtney walk multiple guest to the elevators with enthusiasm and joy. As we waited for an hour or so we were notified our room was ready. You'd think the 3rd time would be a charm, but Courtney continued to roll with her rudeness and asked again "what do you want?" I proceeded to check in as my wife told me to look for another hotel and when Courtney handed over the key, she didn't mention a room number nor walk us over to show us how the elevator works. This isn't our first stay at the JW in Charlotte, but I'm thinking it'll be the last!
