We were in a campground in Ely and noticed an electrician's truck parked outside another RV. I stopped and asked if they could take a look at a connection in my RV and make a jumper to avoid a burned area.
The electrician was professional and after assessing the situation said he could do the work for us, but he would have to get the wire necessary.
About an hour later he showed up and made the requested repairs. I gave him my billing information and I just received the bill for installing an 8-10 inch jumper to avoid a burned section.
The bill was $9.33 for the 12-volt system to raise the jacks (which did not require any entry into the RV, but simply bolting the jumper in place while sitting outside).
Now for the rest of the story. I did not ask what the service call fee would be since we have done business with many other companies and they all fall within acceptable limits. This company is different.
They want to make a profit and they want to make it all on each customer. The service call for about 30-minutes of service time (not counting that they did not have the wire on the truck) was $375.
The moral? Ask before you buy and don't do business with this company that charges too much for so little. read more
