Our family's cabin is right in between Gaylord and Mancelona, and I will gladly bring my business back to Mancelona Lanes as opposed to anywhere else in the area.

We've had good years and bad weather wise but we have been treated very well by all the staff at all the courses. We don't visit The Marsh anymore the boys find it too tough. But who said we could play golf. We haven't found a better price deal anywhere and we go from Boyne to Ostego to Loon and Shanty Creek and Traverse City. We've never been disappointed at this resort and are not super fussy. We have always booked the last week of May/first week in June. The worst year we had was just after Covid where they didn't have enough staff hired in yet so the greens were slow but the courses were in pretty good shape overall. Looking forward to our trip back this year.

I recently stayed at the ranch in January for a partner yoga retreat. The grounds are wonderful…read more There are lots of hiking trails and scenic spots to relax. It was just after a snow fall when we arrived and a winter wonderland. There is a beautiful dam with a bridge that you drive over going into the area. The falls were partially frozen with half ice, half water. The food they serve is vegetarian and very delicious. Carla and her team were wonderful in the kitchen. The dome structures where the yoga retreat was held were really light and airy and a great place to practice. Our room was in the lodge, room 2. It was nice, clean, and close to everything. The mattress was a little uncomfortable. But really that's my only complaint from the whole weekend. I can't wait to return in the summer to view this center when it is green and warm. I recommend a retreat here, you will feel great after. We did.

This is a well-marked @6-mile loop trail (with options for shorter loops) passing through primarily…read morehardwood (oak/maple/aspen) forests in various stages of recovery from recent and not-so-recent cuts. Terrain is flat to slightly rolling. It passes a pretty little undeveloped lake, which made me wish I'd packed in my flyrod to see what might come up to play. The trail is wide and open, probably since it's maintained for cross-country skiing in the winter. Hiked it a few times over the years and would love to ski it someday. As we were about to begin our hike, a guy with a mountain bike in his truck pulled up and asked if this was a good trail for riding. Couldn't say, not being a rider and not having been there for about five years, but while we were hiking, he passed us and said he thought it was great. So if two-wheeling is your thing, give it a shot. One of the few downsides of the trail, at least to me, is that it intersects with and runs parallel to some ORV trails, and we heard the whine of engines through several parts of our hike. That certainly didn't ruin it though, and this will continue to be a stop when we're in the area.
