The place is awesomely decorated. Very original and cool. Prices on drinks were ok for Vienna and the cocktails were tastier than I expected. Bar staff were top notch and very speedy. Also always inquiring if everything was ok. Now for the negatives. No snacks with the drinks, could give a small bowl of peanuts or so. Would be a nice touch. It gets very busy on the weekends so if you come for a drink and chat then forget it. A great place to party but not really for chatting with friends. Toilets are very small so there might be a queue. Over a pretty decent place. Will be back.

We purchased skip-the-line tickets via Viator and rented the self-guided audio headsets (I think they were around $5 each, maybe a little more). The collection of art is beautiful, spanning many different periods. Their most famous piece is Klimt's The Kiss. I'll be honest -- I didn't know much about Gustav Klimt before, but after seeing his work, I'm now a big fan. After touring the art museum, stroll through the vast gardens. They are beautiful, both in the front and back.

Okay, what was I doing in a chocolate museum last week? I don't really like chocolate very much…read more(give me fruits or nuts any day) but the people I was giving a tour of Vienna to had read about the Schocko Museum at the Heindl and Pischinger Chocolate Factory located in Liesing in the deep south of Vienna and wanted to go. It's kind of hard for me to rate this experience. Here's what you see. You visit two production rooms in the factory itself which you view through glass panels. Okay this part is not like visiting Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. Then there is a movie as much about the history of Heindl's as it is about making chocolate. But the best part of the museum is the exhibition on the history and production of chocolate. In the middle of this exhibition is a chocolate fountain where you can taste the flowing assortments of dark, milk, and white chocolates. For me I found that chocolate tastes better as a liquid flowing from a fountain than it does in a cake or ice cream. There were lots of Heindl's and Pischinger's chocolate candies around to sample and there's also a company store where you receive a discount if you show your museum ticket. Most importantly, the people I was providing a tour of Vienna to enjoyed themselves at the Schocko Museum so that made me happy as well.

You see a movie which is pure advertising for the company and little history about the actual chocolate process. Then you go through 2 small rooms that display pictures of the actual process of chocolate making and molds of the different shapes of chocolates made, also here you can sample drips of chocolate from encased fondue fountains of white, milk, or dark. You go through the door to another small area of the factory where there is minimal work being done..a few people are putting chocolates in bags from the conveyer belt. They give you a 10% coupon to visit their shop to so you can spend more money on their chocolate. This place is over advertised and expensive for what is seen. The chocolate is not fair trade..which I find disappointing.

The Generali Arena is the home of the legendary football club - FK Austria Wien. It is the pride of…read morethe Favoriten district of Vienna. (Please note - there are some other reviews of this sporting venue here on Yelp under the old name of the stadium - Franz Horr Stadion - but in 2010 there was a name change to Generali Arena and I think Yelp needs a new review using the true name of the last few years.) At this point the Generali Arena is not as easy to reach as Hanappi and Happel Stadiums. One usually must go by Ubahn to Reumannplatz, then the 67 streetcar, and then walk. In the future this will become easier with the extension of the U1 Line. The stadium itself has seen much improvement over the last several years with its comfortable new seating areas and concession stands. However the seat sections and numbering through most of the stadium remains confusing and there is still a shortage of food stands and toilets. The remodeled store selling FK Austria Wien clothing and equipment is excellent. All Austrianers (as fans and team members are called) are in heaven in that fan store. But the best thing about the Generali Arena is that my beloved Austria Wien plays there. The crowds are fanatic in support of the guys in violet. Austria Wien is an historic club - in its early days often referred to as the Jewish Club of Austria and the Habsburg Empire and it had some of the best football players in the world. It fought long and hard to keep its name in the years from 1938-1945 when Berlin wanted the "Austria" part of its name removed. The Austrianers stood strong against the Nationalist Socialists and somehow managed to keep their name. They have won dozens of Austrian Cups and Championships and at times played well in Europe. They have fans all over the world - indeed Moritz Bleibtreu recently said in an interview that he is a true Austrianer and loyal fan of Austria Wien. On a sunny Saturday in Vienna, there is little finer than cheering FK Austria Wien on to victory in the loud and friendly Generali Arena. (And if you are visiting Vienna and love good football - head down to Favoriten and catch an Austria,Wien home match at the Generali Arena.)

In my quest to visit every Bezirksmuseum in Vienna over the next couple of years, I took advantage…read moreof meeting a friend at Oberlaa to visit the Favoriten Bezirksmuseum en route. A couple of things hit me right from the start - First it's not that easy to find. They should def have a couple of more signs from the new Underground Station of Alaudagasse. Secondly you just walk right in - there's no one to greet you per se and direct you - not that it is very large. Once in the museum, it's very much a mixed bag. There are a lot of things but so many don't even seem specific to the 10th District. The exhibits are really crowded. And you know what.. there was no exhibit devoted to FK Austria Wien - the great football team and the pride of Favoriten!! Of course I took a point off for not having any displays about my favorite football team!!

The Performeum in Vienna is a spacious and cool new visual and performing arts venue in Favoriten…read more It's only a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof so it is well-served by public transit. The Performeum is found in an old factory building that is almost like a campus as there are a lot of people just hanging outside on the grassy areas near the main entrance. During the Wiener Festwochen (Vienna Festival) it has several exhibitions and performances going on. Some are ticketed and some are free but all are unique. Of course you can purchase food and drinks here as well. Check out this cool new center for the arts!
