Eating at this cafe was a great experience. There is a small old town diner feel to it as you can eat your meal at the counter on stools if you would like. There is outdoor seating as well. The bathrooms were clean. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of hash-browns. The gravy tasted home made and there were little round sliced sausages in the gravy. We had the gravy and biscuits; average at best. Everything omelette with chorizo; the vegis and meat were terribly overcooked. My son said the French toast topped with strawberries and whipped cream were great along with his hot chocolate. Every time we go somewhere it gets crowded afterwards. For the amount of times I rely on reviews, it's a shame I don't often leave them, but felt compelled to do so after having lunch here today. I grew up in Eagan and have been back living here for about 2 years and hadn't ever heard of Junior's Cafe & Grill until going with work colleagues today. Great little while in the wall restaurant that my roommate and I stumbled upon. We've been living in this area for two years and just thought to come to this place for brunch. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast, they offer rye bread and made my hash browns extra crispy like I like. My friend got the Diablo burger which he said was delicious. Free coffee refills and cute little cholula hot sauce packets. Server was busy but still attentive. The place is small but thankfully there aren't too many tables so it doesn't feel as cramped as it would if they tried to stuff more people in. Its hard to imagine this classic dinner is hidden away in a strip mall in Eagan! I went here on a Sunday morning for a leisurely breakfast with the family. We have been here a number of times and they have a great breakfast menu. There is limited seating and that can be an issue. The largest table is a four top, though if you might be able to push a few tables together if they clear at the right time for larger groups. There is also seating at the counter where you can watch the cooks do their business. I have sat there a few times and can tell you, they know what their doing! Usually when we eat here we order off the breakfast menu and today was no different. I had the breakfast burrito with andouille sausage, my wife the Sausage gravy and biscuits, our son had the pancakes with a side of sausage, the girl had Jr's Breakfasts which was eggs scrambled with sausage covered with hashbrowns and cheese. The food was GREAT! Everything was fresh, made to order. The andouille sausage had nice heat, not your typical Minnesota burn. The Sausage gravy was creamy and delicious with a nice bit of peppery flavor. This is simple food, but care to it preparation and ingredients makes this very good. One thing we did not have time but have had few times before are the cinnamon and caramel rolls. These are made fresh and are the size of a dinner plate! The frosting and caramel are liberally applied, so you better like sweet stuff. We share one and it is more than enough, I can't imagine having breakfast and one of these sweet monstrosities. The have a second location in Burnsville. We have been there a few times. It is much larger with the same menu. I prefer the Eagan location, I like the small diner feel of it, even if we have to wait for a seat sometimes. Knowing at the end we will have a great breakfast makes it worth the wait. read more

My buddies and I were here for a quick Saturday breakfast. I got the solid steak and eggs. Very yummy! I could tell it was not the best steak in the world, but what do you want at 8 AM on a Saturday morning? The toast and eggs were perfectly runny over the toast. I have to preface this with a statement: I'm not a fan of eggs. This condition makes finding good breakfast places a difficulty. A friend suggested that I try out Juniors for breakfast when my father came visiting. I am so glad he suggested that, because I'm hooked on their eggs! Now let me repeat: I DO NOT LIKE EGGS. I tend to avoid eggs when they're cooked by anyone that isn't myself or my father. But I gobbled every last bite of the hashbrowns, eggs, pork sausage, and toast on my plate. The eggs were perfect, and the sausage provided a nice sweet-and-savory kick. I loved the hashbrowns, and have finally found a place that beats my hometown Waffle House in the hashbrown love. But this was not the last foray to Juniors. I wandered in a week or so later to try out lunch, and had one of the best Reubens of my life! I sent pictures of the sandwich back to my father, who also loves Reubens, and had him drooling on the phone in minutes. Juniors has become one of my favorite diners in Eagan, and I'm so glad it's within walking distance, so I feel less guilty when I eat every single bite. I found it in the Diablo Burger, a perfectly-cooked burger topped with melted pepperjack hiding a fiery mound of griddled jalepeno peppers. Add some chipotle mayo and you have the most delicious slow burn ever. It all comes on a pretzel bun which provides a nice flavor and crunch. I ate every. Single. Bite. And the best part, as always, comes in the form of the people who work at and run Juniors. I've been here twice so far. Once I got the BLT, the second (pictured) time I got the hot beef commercial. The BLT was fine as were the fries. The hot beef wasn't as good. They use deli style roast beef for the beef and the gravy isn't super impressive. Combined with the above ten dollar price for the dish, not worth it. It could be that I should have gotten more diner centric food. But why offer it if you're not going to try? My first impression when walking into this diner was that it's very old-fashioned and welcoming to everyone. The waitress that served us was very nice and kind but there is a lot of loud music and grills in the background. This made it somewhat difficult to hold longer deep conversations. Diving in the food, my cousins and I got the country fried steak, eggs Benedict, mushroom Swiss burger with cheesy hash browns, and the bacon and eggs platter. Everything tasted like it should and it everything tasted absolutely fantastic. The hash browns were definitely my favorite due to how crispy and crunchy they were. I'm usually never around this area so it was a great choice that my cousins had. I definitely will come back to this location to try out different things on the menu. I live equidistant from both the Eagan and Burnsville locations, and can find no quality differences between the two. Both restaurants are located in dive-y strip malls that probably discourage potential customers from giving them a try. The Burnsville location is sprawling and geared toward the sports crowd with dozens of TVs hung everywhere. Vikings fans start early on Sunday mornings, so it's a bit of a deterrent during football season. The Eagan location is quite small on the inside and can get a little claustrophobic on busy weekends. Arrive hungry, because the portions are huge. I'm a huge fan of the Spanish omelet with chorizo and homemade salsa. The breakfast plates come with hash browns cooked just right, golden brown and crispy on the outside. Even the wheat toast is noteworthy-thick, hearty bread slathered with butter. Junior's boasts about their giant cinnamon rolls, but after trying one I decided it's not for me....way too sweet and doughy, not enough cinnamon. It's enough to feed four adults though. The owner works on site at both locations and it's obvious he cares about his customers and the quality of food and service. I think Junior's is a little cheaper than Perkins, but the quality is infinitely better and there's almost never a wait. read more

How can a simple coupon remind you of socialism running amok? It read 2 grilled chicken sandwiches 10.99. That's it. We go I ordered the burger, and my husband used the coupon. Not so simple, he told us we each had to have one of the sandwiches. Twofers usually mean they want to push two drinks. So red tape and idiot rules mean more than making money for the boss. After some debating he let it go. If he didn't, it was off to El Loro. As unsettling as this exchange was, the food was done just right. Bacon newly cooked on the burger. It's a shiny retro diner in a small strip mall. Lot's of early 20th century memorabilia on the walls. I can see the locals being regulars. I passed by this place more than once since my arrival in Eagan. The surroundings never beckoned me to stop in and have a look. I know one thing. Getting someone like my wife to give this place a try would be a long uphill battle. Not because of the business, mind you. It is the surroundings. As in forlorn and forgotten little strip mall buried off the beaten path. Looks are so superficial. I am a child of a man who ran a coffee shop in a downtrodden urban setting. Which makes me the champion of the little guys. Forget about the corporate chains that all look, smell and taste as bland as the packing crates they come out of. I've been to Junior's twice at this point. Both visits have been rewarded with entertainment and very solid food in ginormous portions. Having been around the food service industry since early in my life, I place a high value on a kitchen I can see. You'd be surprised at what goes on inside of the kitchens in swanky looking places. Here, there is no secrecy as to how the cooks are handling my food. A major plus in my book. The first meal I had was the Diablo burger. It may not be the best burger I've had in my life. However, it is one of the better ones I've had in quite some time. As a point of reference, it is a much better burger than the Bluicy I had at the Blue Door the week before. I asked for it medium, and they brought it to me medium - which rarely happens. Juicy and delicious. The buns were nice and the jalapeno pepper added a nice counterbalance to the basic burger. With the mountain of crinkly fries, the meal was too big for my own good. Being a good son though, I finished everything on my platter. My second visit was today for lunch. Julian recommended the turkey bacon club sandwich and I heeded it. What came from the kitchen looked like a double order! Half of the the order would have been enough for lunch. But you know, my mothers training kicks in at the subconscious level. The thought of me not finishing my meal while the countless others were starving around the world still sits on my shoulder and whispers to me. And so, I finished the whole thing. Next time I will ask them to box half of the order before it gets to me. This way I maintain some sense of portion control. Final note. This is the best eatery I've been to in Eagan so far. Junior's is not pretentious. Offers good food at very fair prices. And the staff is having fun serving their customers. Which in turn makes the place fun to visit. read more
