The Tabernas Desert or Desierto de Tabernas is a dry arid area in Spain's Almeria Province. This is…read morethe only inland desert in Europe. Definitely interesting place to visit, actually probably the busiest desert I ever visited. First animals are everywhere!! If you just pull out on the quiet empty lot and wait few minutes in piece, you will see dozens of rabbits popping out of ground. They are supper fast, so good luck taking picture of one, but they are definitely there.
Tabernas Desert has been used for filming spaghetti westerns for decades. I don't believe it is an active sight (movie wise) but Oasys Mini Hollywood signs are everywhere on the road so very easy to find. Some of the blockbuster movies filmed there are: the Lawrence of Arabia , Cleopatra and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusader.
We were more interested in desert itself than Mini Hollywood (been to the one in USA already in California), but if you have couple of hours spare, and you are not into nature-this is the place for you. Not sure on any of the restrictions during Covid.
