Today at lunch i felt like i entered a parallel universe ... Jungs is a world of the manicured, glamourous, well healed 'ladies who lunch'!
For the hour i was there i has able to forget about the reality of work and loose myself in delicious wraps, delicate salads and gorgeous fancy patisserie. The menu ranges from eggs benedict, bacon sarnies, salads, burgers, wraps, jacket potatoes and a few specials. there is also a childrens menu. Everything is well balanced, tasty and beautifully presented. Although the portions are on the smaller side. but given the desserts on offer that is a good thing!
Jungs started off as a german patisserie in nearby Beaconsfield, and this really shows through in the cakes. The chocolate mouse, lemon tarte and kirsh slice have all tickled my tastebuds i would recommend you get your lunch partner (s) to all order different patisserie so you can get to try as many as possible!
Jungs is a cafe, cookshop and bakers, and its site is shared with Richardsons which is possibly one of the top butchers in the country. But given its quality, and its location in gerrards cross, the meat (especially the prepared to order stuff like beef wellington etc) is very expensive.
At the cafe wraps, salads etc are around £5 to £10 mark, fancy cakes come in at about £3. By the time you have had a drink its probably about £15 a head for a very light lunch- a bit pricy, but a far nicer place to spend your lunch hour than pret/costa/subway etc read more
