From Wikipedia, Juneteenth is described as "...Juneteenth Independence Day or Freedom Day, is a holiday that commemorates the June 19, 1865 announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas, and more generally the emancipation of African-American slaves throughout the Confederate South."
Or as they call it in the Confederate South - "the day they got away". (I'm just kidding, but my joking is just saying what many in the South think.)
It's a nice celebration. It's not huge but there are some booths, seminars, performances, etc. The Eiteljorg let people in for free that day as well, which is very nice of them.
