I opted to go with the traditional 'birds and bees cider', which was a very refreshing apple cider with pear which was so easy to drink and just perfect on the hot day. The cidery has lovely grounds you could walk about and has a well stocked cidery store inside the barn. We thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere here and hope to visit again. For lunch, we had the flatbread, and my hubby had a bowl of the seafood chowder which he loved. Perfect plate to share.

I've been on a self-guided craft cidery tour of Victoria Island and the quality of the cider here is second to none. And the atmosphere is classy modern-farmhouse if you are collecting Instagram pics! They won the People's Choice cider festival award for a reason! The owner was on site and very friendly. She explained the apple cultivars are all old-world imports, and you can absolutely taste that in the flavor bouquet. None of the usual flavor gimmicks here! The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and encouraged me to try the lavender, (normally I'd not bother with flavors) an it was fantastic-- inviting and crisp on the nose and pallet. After that taste, I dove into a quince and a hopped semisweet, and was blown away the complexity. All selections had beautiful clarity and a mellow butter smoothness and full bodied viscosity. Of note, even on a busy holiday weekend there was plenty of room and very fast service--unlike some of the more touristy spots. Families, doggos, couples and groups all had space and privacy to laugh and enjoy themselves. Don't hesitate. Go now!

They had a pretty good selection of food vendors on a Sunday night, and we ended up getting a banh mi each from Friendly Nettle, and a dozen oysters for me from Moonlight Oysters. Food came out quick, after which we found a seat out near the sunflowers. I really enjoyed my pork banh mi -- it's more of a pork sausage than a grilled pork, but it was really tasty with great bread and stuffed full with pickled shredded veg and cilantro. My dinner buddy found that he wasn't a huge fan of tempeh in a banh mi but still found it a satisfying meal. The oysters were also delicious. They were serving up the Aphrodite variety that night, which were petite shots of mineral-y goodness. After dinner and a stroll through the grounds, we got some delicious vegan ice cream at Fiddlehead creamery. We loved their strawberry flavor and were excited at how all the flavors are vegan here! They're a family run cidery that specializes in dry, 100% certified organic ciders. We dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 2:30pm). They have tables outside (in the back) with a sweet view but you can also walk down and sit in the orchard yard. Only thing is it's very, very slanty. They had 8 ciders on the menu but only 7 that you could try in a flight (flight options were $9.00 for 3, or $17.00 for 7). Most of their ciders are in the very dry to medium dry category. There's also a small snack menu. Bottles are in the $6.25 to $6.50 range. You save slightly when you buy a six pack. You can buy fresh apples ($3.00/lb). Apple chips but these weren't cheap ($5.00 for 60g or $10.00 for 140g). - 2x Flight ($9.00 for 3) - we opted for the original, firkin and sky blue. Honestly, there wasn't much difference between the three that we tried. Then again, we aren't the biggest fans of dry ciders. Didn't love any of their ciders. 2.5 stars.

Even though the place was bustling, service was patient and friendly. Lots of outdoor seating, and the coolest part is you can grab a cider and watch the animals that are part of the petting zoo farm. The highland cows, alpacas, and goats are adorable and well cared for. Also love that there's now a food truck there sometimes. Plenty of parking, too - my only wish is that there be a traffic light at their intersection as it's very difficult to turn in and out. Not their fault!

The tasting room can fit two groups in at a time. Service was friendly and informative. We lucked out and our tasting was done by the cidermaker himself! Interesting to see what went behind certain flavours and ideas. Tasting is complimentary and we were given 5 cider samples to try (plus a bonus soda). Cider bottles are $4.99 (330ml) and sodas are $3.99. They even had a mingler ($50.00 for 12 bottles). - Community-in-cider - a smorgasboard of apples (that would have been discarded) from the surrounding area. Pleasantly smooth. A good heritage cider. - Ginnish - we liked that it wasn't overly juniper heavy. Light with different flavour notes coming through. - Humulus lupulus - a lot of lychee and honey on the nose. Again, light but refreshing. An excellent hopped cider (which is due to using aromatic hops). - Poïple - beautiful colour from using the pea blossom. More of the fruitier style that we are used to with crushed blueberries and lemon zest. - Winter - a mix of winter spices (we tasted notes of cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla). - Absinthe soda - normally we don't like anise but it was very well balanced and rounded. A variety of flavours come through and these soda babies only have 50g of sugar. We bought half a dozen cider bottles (love potion, farriessence, gingerella, rouge, cider noir and ¡feugo!) and two sodas (ginger and citrus). Can't wait to try out these flavours! VC was a pleasant surprise. Worth a visit if you're a cider aficionado.
