ok this place is honestly kind of unreal, one that deserves the hype. michelin star nomination in SLC?!? i have no idea what i'm talking about actually but i do know my mouth was very happy. the truffle butter, crusted sourdough, fried zucchini flowers and gnocchi alla junah were highlights. the velvet booths, ambient lighting and hot tattooed waiters were even brighter highlights

Service was 10/10 the staff was so professional. Vibes were great. The entrees were 4/5 but the apps were 5/5. I would go back solely for the apps. They were delicious. Sorry not sorry for the half eaten appetizers..tummies ate first on this one.

Risotto Vegano

My friend was visiting from out of town, so we decided to try this place for the first time. It's a Japanese and Italian fusion restaurant, which I've never heard of before. The restaurant was small with a high-end atmosphere and great service. Parking could be tough later in the night, but I was able to find a spot just north of the restaurant on Jefferson street. We had a reservation at 6 p.m. and were immediately seated. Delicious (free!) bread was delivered to our table with a truffle and chive butter along with pesto with olives. I can't tell you how happy I am to see that bread is still free at some places. We enjoyed the Midnight Burrata and Aurora Crudo for appetizers. Both were amazing, but the beautiful presentation and complex flavors of the crudo won me over as my favorite. For entrees, my friend had the Risotto Vegano and loved it. I had the Tagliolino al Mentaiko, which looked simple but had complex flavors with a hint of spice. I also tried a grapefruit sake drink that was like a boozy grapefruit soda, which was good but I was sad that they didn't have cocktails. We finished our meal with a Crème Brûlée which was a great portion and delicious but lacked that signature hard sugar crust. Our bill came to about $125 before tip. Overall this was a great fancy dinner place, and I'm excited to go back and try more things.

The food was wonderful. Asian fusion IS my thing! The only real complaint I have was the service. Our server was not bad, but sometimes, it took a while to get a hold of her. Also, I asked for more complimentary bread and butter, but she did not bring it out. In addition, she didn't seem too friendly. The food itself was good. Each dish was definitely unique. The tagliolino al mentaiko had a very subtle taste to it, but it was nice and creamy. The matcha tiramisu was soft and had a hint of matcha flavor. I really like the midnight burrata! It came out very hot haha I think it could be a dessert with how sweet it is. The complimentary bread and butter/sauce was nice to have. The butters are made in house. I like how they gave me different kinds of butter, one being truffle flavored. I wanted more bread & butter but was not given any more, even though I specifically asked. Overall, nice vibe. It's very minimally modern. I would consider this place a more upscale dining establishment.

Beets salad and gyoza

Hmmm, I'm torn...depends on the dish you order, the quality varies quite a lot. We thought the beets salad was the best, would skip the gyoza, the pork was meh, but then the octopus was good. The food theme feels a bit "confused"...like they'd throw a lot of different flavors together and it doesn't feel intentional.

Stopped into Junah for the first time and it is now one of my favorite restaurants in Utah. Our server, Lauren was incredible and helped us navigate a menu with unfamiliar offerings. Our party ordered five different appetizers. We all loved the beet salad and burrata dish. The homemade sourdough and butter were to die for. The glazed mushrooms were good, though I probably wouldn't order again. I thought the arancini flavors were a little strange together so I wouldn't go for that again either. All 4 of the entrees were outstanding and offered novelty with intense depth of flavor. The mentaiko pasta was the table favorite and possibly the best pasta dish I've ever tried. I was also blown away by the pappardelle special. Dessert left a little to be desired. The matcha tiramisu didn't taste anything like tiramisu and reminded me more of matcha tres leches. The crème brûlée was fine but I'll probably skip dessert next time. While not everything was a home run for me flavor wise, there were several standout dishes that blew my mind. This place is exceptional from the food, presentation, service, and ambiance. It's also priced very reasonably. If you want a unique dining experience with a skillfully creative menu and flavors that will punch you in the face, you're going to love Junah.

Midnight Burrata
Voltaire P.

First time trying Japanese-Italian fusion and was amazed by the flavors and textures. The place is ntimate and our server Lauren was very helpful and attentive. We had the Midnight Burrata, Glazed Maitake, Tagliono al Mentaiko, and a special dish of the day that had spicy paccheri with Italian sausage. The Midnight Burrata was very enjoyable with the roasted pistachios giving it a unique texture. Be sure to ask for extra bread and a spoon. The Glazed Maitake had oyster mushroom with a glaze made with soy sauce and anise. It was very savory and the garlic potato foam balances the flavor. Wish there was more of the potato foam as the mushroom was very flavorful. Never had Mentaiko sauce before so I didn't expect a sauce can be this light with a slight fish taste. The perilla leaves were very strong so a little less would be better and perhaps a little bit of mushroom and/or sprinkled pepper. The spicy paccheri with Italian sausage had a more familiar flavor profile unlike our other dishes, but it was still very good. Overall our dinner was excellent and we'll be back to try their other dishes.

This place is way too cool for me, but I loved it. Would come back to celebrate or show off SLC's food scene. The food was amazing. If you get there and aren't sure of the menu your server will walk you through what you want to try. We tired a lot of different things and had an amazing culinary experience. See pictures for all the things we loved. Loving this neighborhood that is up and coming. Parking on the street or easily ride your bike on the 9th line.

I cancelled a reservation I have had for weeks to go here instead, and I'm so glad we did. Junah was the best meal I've had in a long time, Italian and Japanese fusion. Uni shooters special, carpaccio di Bue, gnocchi alla aragosta, tagliata di Bosco, Poached pear. The carpaccio was a favorite for sure. Everything was executed amazingly. We can't wait to come back.

i felt this place is quite overhyped online for what it is. $30-$40 a dish for small servings and long waits for food that have you leaving hungrier than when you came in. Hostess wasnt the warmest when we checked in for our reservation. We were seated at the smaller tables that are only a few inches apart so you unfortunately hear everything at the tables next to you, and when people get out around you, you end up with a strangers bottom crossing your face on the way out. Also had the unfortunate experience of having a loud manspreader next to us who tainted our experience as well. Overall i felt like the dishes left some to be desired flavor and portion wise and i dont think ill be returning. My favorite dish was the mussels which is sadly only a for now special.

Pretty fancy spot in salt lake. I saw this place on TikTok and knew I had to check it out, didn't disappoint at all. Servers were so nice, we came pretty early for our reservation but they kept checking in with us. The food was delicious! Who would've thought Italian x Japanese fusion would work so well. Parking in the area can be a challenge so come early and make a reservation so you don't have to wait! A must try if you're ever in the area

Pork belly
Katlyn M.

The place is stunning. The complimentary bread with assorted house butters was the perfect start, we were obsessed with each unique flavor. My first time trying tartar since I normally scare away from it, and they absolutely know what they are doing. The flavor was rich and intense in the best way possible. The star of the show was the pork belly dish for me. Melts in your mouth, I truly will go back for this meal alone. It's moved up to one of my favorite dishes in SLC. Service was amazing as well, so professional.

Tortellini
Colton H.

Really cool space. Furniture and open kitchen and mood are very aesthetic. Food is also delicious. Came here with my boo thang for our anni and we're not disappointed. Our waitress was also very helpful and kind. I could have used like 3 more tortellini but the flavor was incredible.

This is my second time at Mensho, and I have to say that I'm still thoroughly impressed! The first…read moreramen I had was the GKO, which incorporates garlic into every aspect of it. It's a very unique, strong garlic flavor with a thick broth. However, in my second visit, I became acquainted with the Spicy Kani Miso ramen... And holy *smokes,* is that a delicious ramen. The broth is deliciously miso and umami, with a lowkey seafood flavor, as though they cooked the crab in the broth. It was topped with a serving of shredded snow crab and the most tender, melt-in-your-mouth chashu pork slice. I savored every bit of this bowl, and even drank all the broth!! The appetizers were good, the best bang for your buck being the spicy karaage--it has a good kick, crispy fry without being greasy, and unique spicy flavor. Everything else we tried (garlic edamame, takoyaki, and enoki chips) was good, but nothing special. Service was incredibly speedy and very friendly, and you can tell that the owners put a lot of thought into the restaurant's design to make it feel like a genuine Japanese ramen shop with a modern twist. Do note that this restaurant is a bit pricy, but each bowl is thoughtfully crafted and the ingredients they use are the real deal. If you like ramen of a higher standard, especially when so many restaurants these days use generic ramen soup base with premade noodles and frozen appetizers, it's 100% worth the cost. I think my only complaint is that they boast about using locally-sourced ingredients, but nothing on their menu really sounds local (such as enoki, snow crab, wagyu beef, etc.). Also note that if you're driving, the nearest parking garage is often crowded, but the restaurant offers parking validation.

We found this little hidden gem and wow did it leave us speechless!!!…read more If you're in downtown salt lake and enjoy Japanese food this is a must! The food was amazing, the ambience, the service was just 10/10. We were impressed by the menu and how well the food tasted. You can tell the chef loves what they do because this menu isn't like your regular places. The fact we can have restaurants like this one in Utah is amazing! This type of service and food isn't something you would think you can get in Utah.

We also shared 4 orders of nigiri: salmon, red snapper, yellowtail, and unagi. Other than the unagi, all of the nigiri might have come with wasabi between the rice and the fish, so be aware in case you don't like wasabi. We agreed that overall the nigiri was just ok, and probably wouldn't get it again. They warned us that the black cod would take about 20 mins to prepare, and it definitely took at least that long. My bf had finished his entire roll and we had finished all of the nigiri with lots of time to spare before the black cod finally came out. Once it did, it was smoking hot and absolutely delicious. I love that it comes skin-on. The skin was delicious, flavorful, and was just the right amount of scorched for me. The fish itself was so tender, silky, and soft. The green beans were lightly cooked so they were crunchier than expected, but were fresh and yummy. The rice was moist, soft, and fluffy. My bf tried it and said it was almost as good as the black cod he's had at Nobu! My one small complaint was that in the middle of the cod, I found 3-4 fish bones. My only other complaint was that service, while kind and friendly, was a bit slow. We got our water probably 10 minutes after being seated -- even a table who came in 5 mins after us got their water first, although they had a different server. I appreciated that the waiter apologized for the wait, but because of that I expected him to be a bit more attentive for the rest of the meal. It took us a long time to get the check, and another while to finally pay and get going. In the end, we ended up leaving at nearly the same time as a table next to us, who arrived at least half an hour after us. Overall I'll definitely be back for the black cod again, and my bf said he'd come back for that (and the Mr. Miyagi) too. We'll skip the nigiri next time and focus on exploring some of their other rolls. Expect a long wait if you get the black cod!
