We had to seek them out during our Route 66 Centennial Celebration road trip in the Midwest. We found Buck Atom's Cosmic Curious on 66. Wow, that is a mouth full to say and type! It used to be a 1950's PEMCO gas station and became Buck Atom in 2019 which isn't very long ago. The front where the pumps used to be now has benches. There appears to be a food trailer or truck on its left that wasn't open when we were here. We saw the towering Buck Atom cowboy "Muffler Man" statue who stands 21 feet on the right, his space cowgirl companion Stella Atom who is slightly shorter standing at 19 feet on the left, and in the middle is a small, but cute nostalgic roadside gift shop selling Route 66 memorabilia and souvenirs. Perfect stop for my eldest daughter and I! Buck Atom's welcomes all visitors from around the world to celebrate the magic of the Mother Road Route 66 with cool apparel, fun art, great holiday and treats, nice jewelry, toys, neat souvenirs, nifty stickers, magnets and more. We noticed Buck Atom, Stella Atom, and other giants were on signages, buttons, coffee mugs and tees throughout the shop. This is a must visit iconic roadside attraction! The lady behind the counter was super friendly and sweet. Thank you Julia for the warm welcome and excellent service. I bought some magnets and coasters as keepsakes for me and gifts for friends back home. I wanted to get a t-shirt, too, but they didn't have my size. Julia sent me over to one of their sister shops for the t-shirt... Meadow Gold Mack happens to be diagonally across the street. I did end up dropping by Meadow Gold Mack and getting my Route 66 t-shirt. Thanks Julia!

We went on our lunch break one day and I'm so glad I decided to go with her since I'd never been because there is so much cool stuff here! The selection of shirts here with everything from a simple Oklahoma logo to a funny saying about being an Okie or a Tulsan is quite impressive. As a typical souvenir shop, the knick knacks here range from keychains to cups to household items to local products like honey and such. I really enjoyed the selection of locally made items and the variety of colors all over the store. They sell beverages, candies, and other tasty looking items. There were several baby things so if you needed a baby shower gift or gift for a kid this would be a great place to check out. My family and friends that are from Tulsa and Oklahoma are pretty proud to be from here so realistically this is a great place for gifts in general. Would be a fun place to bring a kid too because of all the fun little candies and knick knacks. I have to say I knew they sold shirts here because I've seen people around Tulsa wearing shirts with the Ida Red logo on the back, but I had no idea what to expect when I showed up. The selection and variety did not disappoint! I will be back here for sure for gifts for others (and myself--treat yo self)!

From cool to kitsch, from funny to puzzling, Ida Red's has it all. I will confess to Ida's not being the kind of place I would envision myself shopping at, but that's because I'm old, stodgy and a general curmudgeon. So I was pleasantly surprised and amused with Ida's. Overall, a really neat place with TONS of local craft merchandise. Now that I have a better idea of their offerings, I can plan a trip back, knowing what I'm looking for.

Several artists came together to start it in 2020 to showcase unique creations and offer one-of-a-kind, handmade and specialty items from 40+ local artists and artisan makers. The name was inspired by Leon Russell's "Hummingbird" song, which is appropriate since the Church Studio is a block away. You can find a wide array of items, from clothing and jewelry, to glasswork, mosaics, pottery, photographs, woodwork, and more. I found a really cute fall mini frame, bead earrings, and a sun catcher, all one of a kind, beautiful, and affordable. If you like a particular artist, they have all their cards at the register. On a Whim carries more up-scale designers. They have clothing, hand bags, shoes, jewelry, baby, and home accents. Also, one of my favorites, On a Whim is one of the few stores in Tulsa to carry Kendra Scott jewelry! The staff is very energetic and always willing to help. It is a very fun store. There is street parking along Peoria, but there is also a large lot behind the store. Again, it is somewhat expensive, but this is the place to find the designer brands. So, you should stop by, On a Whim!
