The restaurant is classy and upscale but was vague regarding its specialties. Thankfully, the menu was small enough such that one would expect every item to be exceptional. After just having spent a few days in Paris, we were wary about ordering the meat & cheese platter but found it to be just as good if not better than some of the spots in Paris where we ordered some combination for essentially every meal. The steak was done perfectly with beautiful accompaniments. Dessert was lit on fire in front of us and was both unique and delicious. The wine was great. Entree pricing was the most consistent I have ever seen in a restaurant, the a la carte selections all being the same at 25 euros (not to imply this is a good or bad thing). The service was the hallmark as it was speedy and thoughtful when needed but was mostly relaxed. We found ourselves seldom brashly interrupted. I can't imagine the prices were near what would be considered expensive for the area.

Pastis fit the bill perfectly. My uncle and I both had the day's featured white wine, and while we waited for our meals, we nibbled on their delicious baguette with beurre fleur de sel. The bread truly tasted like what I've eaten in Paris and Provence. My uncle ordered the poisson du jour (daily fish special), while I had the limande-sole meunière; he said his dish was delicious, and I thorougly enjoyed mine too, especially after a deboning lesson by our server (who I suspect was also the owner, or at least the manager). But the highlight for me was the dessert, a throroughly delicious tarte au citron that was tangy and creamy, with a wonderful, slightly spicy crust, served with a berry coulis. The service was attentive without being overly solicitous, and the atmosphere felt cozy and welcoming. I am only witholding one star due to the noise level as the restaurant filled up, which is a natural consquence of the tile floor, I'm sure. Can't really be helped, but it does make it a little more difficult to hold a conversation as the wine flows. Recommended!

Walked a long distance to this restaurant because it was rated number two on vegan cow in rotterdam (the yelp for vegan restaurants). We were extremely disappointed. First of all we asked for tapwater and they refused to give it to us. I am environmentally conscious and I will not support the use of bottled water in a country where tapwater is clean and safe. Being extremely health-conscious I asked multiple times regarding dishes whether they were fried or not. The waitress assured me that the Soya ribs were not fried but were baked. However they were actually Fried with lots of oil dripping off of them. We ordered Vietnamese noodles, which came in dry and bland. We considered sending it back but decided to be nice and to make it more palatable asking for soy sauce and sweet and sour sauce. Without notifying us in advance they added three euros to the bill for the sweet-and-sour sauce. If the noodles were properly seasoned we would not have had to request the additional sweet and sour sauce. When we brought this up, they replied with "that's the price". We ended up paying €50 for two people for a very unsatisfactory meal. We will not be returning. We waren enorm teleurgesteld.

We used to go to Napoli a lot in Haarlem, which has higher quality food for sure, but then one day Napoli got some award, and the next day, their prices had doubled (really, doubled!) for the exact same food they'd been serving for many years. So we began going to Azzurro instead, and don't regret the decision. Service is very friendly, especially to women, if you get my drift. The owners, I think they're Egyptian, are very friendly and complimentary and won't hesitate to call out a 'Ciao bella' as you're on your way out.
