I went in to get a present for a friends 21st birthday, I wanted a special Pandora bead to add to her bracelet which she was getting as a present. I entered the store and started to have a mooch around at all the beautiful jewellery. After a minute or so an assistant came over and asked if I needed any help. I told her what I was after and she asked me if there was any particular type of bead I was after. They had ones with charms, novelty shapes, precious stones and glass. I had decided to get one with a precious stone in as it was a special birthday. She then started bringing over trays of gorgeous beads for me to look at. She told me to place the ones I liked in a little basket so that I could look at them again and compare them to each other. There were so many stunning beads I ended up with loads to compare to each other. It was such a difficult decision that I had to agonise over it for a long time. The assistant was patient with me. I asked her opinion and she showed me her bracelet and her favourite bead, which was embellished with black mother of pearl. I decided to go for this one. As she knew my bead was a gift she asked if I would like it wrapped for no extra charge. She put it in a gorgeous little box with a couple of chocolates inside. She then added a pretty ribbon and put it in a little Pandora bag. The bead cost me £30 and it was a very well received present. The beads can cost anything up to £620!!! The beads are not cheap but they are of a much higher quality than the cheap imitations that can be seen in high street stores such as Dorothy Perkins. This is a brilliant shop and the service is first class.

On the whole a visit to Liverpool One is a true delight and it is establishments such as Pandora that make it so special. Pandora specialises in handmade women's jewellery which provides something beautiful and precious to the customer. This is very much a women's store which works for their needs and does so with brilliant success. The staff are fantastic here and they provide attention and service which really is admirable not too mention professional. This place works hard and is firmly established as a big name within Liverpool One as it competes against the many other jewellers.

There is also a book section which has some great 'random' books that always make good talking points or presents. The chester branch of hawkins bazaar doesnt seem very big, but does make good use of its space, and is very centrally located in Chester being just on the crossroads.

I found a pendant that was £300 but was priced £2600 on their website!!! Very current stock and a lot can be found on their website at painfully high prices. Staff are helpful and not too forceful and it's easy to view everything fairly closely. Just wish I could be trusted not to lose anything so expensive! This is high end chain that will no doubt impress the bargain hunters.

A couple of negatives as well. Firstly the building is basically a barn and really needs redecorating inside. It looks shabby which creates a poor impression overall. Secondly the reductions aren't as generous as you would expect in an outlet shop. For example the last time I visited I found some Ben Sherman T-shirts which had been reduced from £29.99 to £24.99, a saving of only £5. Overall it's OK for the older shopper but not great.

Since then it's had a makeover and having visited for the first time in years I can now report it's a very clean and modern looking buildings selling clothes for the over sixties. Actually there were one or two small sections of clothing for younger people, brands like Brave Soul and Lambretta, but only very limited ranges. And there didn't appear to anything for kids at all which disappointed my eight year old daughter.

Their sizes go from 6-18 in ladieswear, and from a baby-12 year old in kidswear. Menswear goes from S-XXL. All their sizes are very generous and they also sell footwear and some snowboarding and surfing gear. Well worth looking whether you're sporty or not.

They also sell handmade hair bands and accessories. The shop owner was very friendly. She sat there sewing away on some projects while she chatted to me about her business, and even told me a little bit of the history of the building which has undergone a lot of changes over the years. I would definitely recommend this shop if you like feminine fashion, and one-of-a-kind items. There's something for everyone here, no matter your age or colour preferences. They can also do clothing alterations.
