Dear Travelers, This spot is a gem and totally worth a 5-star rating. It is quaint, but clean and cozy. The service is personal and over-the-top delightful. My husband and I stayed in the "fireplace" cottage with a crazy jacuzzi and view of the Dungeness Spit from the rocking chairs on the front porch. A morning walk on the road running along the coastline, or venture down to the beach where there is a campfire pit and kayaks (too cold while we were there, but it looked so very inviting). Be sure to order the generous breakfast that will be delivered to your cottage at 9AM, and enjoy the peace a quite some more. FYI, We paid almost 6x more for a large house in Seattle over the holiday weekend just prior, and they DID NOT get a 5-star rating for anything except the view.

We absolutely loved our stay here! This locally owned hotel was so much more than we expected. Would recommend to anyone looking to travel to this area and hike Olympic National Park. The cottages are so adorable! Ours had a very spacious room inside, full kitchen, and a nice bathroom with a skylight. The large windows were perfectly positioned for us to see the mountains and the water from our bed at the same time, such a unique and incredible experience. We really enjoyed the private beach as well, went on multiple walks along the water without a soul in sight. The homemade breakfast was a great surprise too! We paid for it in advance but had no idea how amazing it would be. Huge quiches, giant slabs of bacon, muffins the size of my face, fresh fruit salad, I could go on! Everything was delicious and it was a huge convenience to have food delivered to our door rather than driving far out of our way and wasting time in the morning. There are multiple great hikes not too far drive away, we definitely appreciated being able to stay so close to the National Park. We even bumped into some of the family that runs the place and they were super nice and welcoming happy to help with any questions we had about the area.

Eagle's Nest Room, aka Room #14.

Juan de Fuca Cottages is one of the best places to stay in the entire Olympic Peninsula. I have stayed at many accommodations on the peninsula over the last decade and this place is my favorite. It shines for its location and for its management. Location wise, it's the best of both worlds. It's right on the sea. Literally. Fresh air and peace can be had. If you want a nice dinner or espresso, Sequim is only a 10-minute drive. It's surrounded by nature and trees and lavender fields. Besides location, when it comes to a quality place to stay this place is a winner. I've stayed in at least 2 different cottages and two of the main building rooms. While the cottages are more private, the main room is also a good choice. The upstairs room, called the Eagle's Nest, is modern and full of sunlight. It has all of the touches you need like USB ports, microwave/fridge, and is very thoughtfully decorated. The current management is also stellar. A lot of pride goes into the maintenance of this place and the family who runs it are wholesome and hardworking. I'd recommend offering the high speed WiFi for free rather than an up charge, but otherwise all of the touches are great. When I've had feedback to improve something, the owner is attentive and will make the improvements. Overall, really quality place to stay for the Port Angeles/Sequim/Olympic/Hurricane Ridge area. You won't regret the experience.

Their kayaks.

These cottages were great! So clean and fully appointed with kitchen equipment. We rented their kayaks and explored the bay. So fun!! Highly recommend.

Cabins, are beautiful, clean and well maintained. The staff is very informative and friendly. And OH my the views are spectacular. I will definitely go back

The absolute best!!! This lil cottage was such a gem, in a perfect location, with every single detail thought of! There is a private beach with water craft and a gorgeous spot for the sunset/sunrise! Absolutely loved it!!

Sunset from the private beach

Loved our stay here and wish we could've spent more time in the cottages (we spent much of the day out in Olympic national park). The backdrop of the mountains was stunning especially during sunset and sunrise. We were lucky to get the cottage furthest back so we looked out onto all the fields and mountains. The private beach to the bay was a lovely place to see the sunset. There is a field of cows nearby and my first night I thought I kept hearing my phone buzz when in reality I was hearing Moo-ing - it wasn't a bother and by the second night I was already used to it. The cottage was very clean and well stocked. We really enjoyed our time here and would recommend it to anyone in the area!

Our room was the smallest I believe at $175 a night, kinda pricey but you are facing the awesome bay views and can walk the beach with the stair access right across the street. They allowed dogs $35 per night extra so that was another perk. It was all self contained with kitchen but the fridge was an inconvenient mini fridge yet a full size stove/oven & microwave. The queen bed is also in the small room. Bathroom was tight with no shelves to unpack makeup/personals, no tub just shower. It did have a carport with bench and table/chairs for warmer weather. It did have a huge nice tv although tricky to use. There was a none big lawn area behind the cottages that offered hot tub, toys, bbqs, fire pits and kayaks etc to rent w/ life jackets. We were basically alone for the 4 nights, only saw one staff member on first day. Internet worked fine. They include a kierig w/ k-cups which was nice. I was wishing I'd brought paper plates as they just had 2 heavy ceramic plates but had most basic necessities for cooking and eating, even spices, paper towels, dish and hand soap plus toothbrushes. Overall it was pleasant stay, just tight quarters, a bit pricey and noisy bed.

Dungeness Bay Motel gets 5 stars from me ... filled in and glittered over with a kiss on top…read more I've been a guest for several years. Although there are many newer, more luxurious, and more amenity-rich properties in Sequim and Dungeness, the simple charm of this property and the kindness of the hosts (John and Karin) keep me coming back. Situated like sets of side-by-side duplexes, the guest rooms are cozy and super clean. There are televisions, free wi-fi, and full kitchens but no telephones. Each cottage has its own parking space and carport for your car and bicycles. There is a pasture behind the property where cows currently graze amid the backdrop of the Olympic mountains. The front of the property are panoramic views of incredible sunsets, the bay, the Dungeness Spit, the Strait of Juan de Fuca, British Columbia, the San Juan Islands, and on and on. There is a nice bbq on the property that's available for guests to share. At night, it's pitch black and dead silent. The beauty of this respite from urban assaults on the senses can take getting used to by folks who have forgotten how magical this type of stillness is. I love nighttime walks with flashlight looking for deer. Deer are everywhere, literally, day and night. John and Karin are excellent resources for places to go and things to do if you're new to the area. They're honest and discriminating and won't steer you to a place just because it's popularly touristy; if it's not good, they'll tell you so and give better recommendations. I love this place!

They have several units to choose from, but we chose the "Perch", which was the largest. It didn't disappoint! We didn't even use half the space! Currently, check-in is anytime after 2:00pm. We checked ourselves in and upon entering, found a spacious "home"! Divided by a set of stairs, there is a murphy bed (sleeps 2), bath & shower, dining area and full kitchen to the left. On the dining table was a lovely note addressed to us by the hosts Craig & Michelle, accompanied by a bottle of wine and a bowl of granola bars. Then, in the refrigerator, there was a nicely adjourned box nestled with yogurts, orange juice, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, a small bottle of Prosecco (for mimosas) and chocolate! We turned around and on the kitchen counter was a plate of local pastries! In the room on the other side of the stairs is another bedroom (sleeping 2-3), king bed, full bath and sitting area with coffee maker and coffee pods. Downstairs by the front door is a living room with TV, comfy couch & chair, wet bar, small fridge and washer/dryer! As everyone knows, with a home or business, there will always be times of repair and/or construction. Currently, the upper deck is being repaired, so we weren't able to take advantage of that. Instead, we took a long walk along the water, watched the eagles soar overhead, waved at people passing by and enjoyed the fresh sea air! Eating at local restaurants is always a plus and enjoying wine in the evenings watching the sun lower gently on the horizon out of sight made this trip, along with our fabulous hosts, Craig & Michelle, all worthwhile. Thank you for making our local getaway a special one!
