Overall 3.5/5 I went to J's mini hot pot around 8 PM on a Wednesday night and I had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated for 6 people. I was surprised how busy the restaurant was at such a late hour during the middle of the week. The parking in front of the restaurant is also quite limited and always packed. There is parking nearby though such as behind the building in the next door plaza or a little further down the road by the bank. The interior of the restaurant was very nice and well renovated. The ceramic pot that the hot pot tins come in is aesthetic, the booths are comfortable and the tables are quite spacious. The food comes out pretty quickly and sometimes through an automatic robot. The menu is quite overwhelming but I choose the Angus beef as my entree. Once you choose your entree, you pick your broth (I chose the beef bone broth but some broths are extra) and you can pick the spice as well. The entree comes with a large bowl of sides such as vegetables, fish cakes, egg, noodles, etc. I did order a side of rice as I prefer rice over noodles. I assumed it was going to be extra but I was not charged. They gave me a large bowl of rice which I appreciated and had to give half to my friend as it was too much for just me. Overall the meat was pretty good, I wouldn't say it is the best quality. I would put it in the hot pot and end up picking out tiny pieces of meat. However, the quality of the vegetables and other sides were good. I'd say the service overall was good. The only issue I had was towards the end my friends and I had $10 gift card each. We were told we werent able to use more than one gift card per party which is not stated on the gift card. It was also confusing because they originally included tip since there were 6 of us in the party but now that we were planning on using the gift card, they removed the tip? I don't understand the logic or the system but we were quite confused and unpleased to not each be able to use all of the gift cards. read more

Dropped by on a cold rainy day and it was absolutely delicious. Cheap solo hotpot for a great price. I ordered the beef broth which was flavorful and tried the beef, lamb, and tilapia. Everything was delicious and very fast to cook. They also give plenty of vegetables and lots of noodles. The price seriously can't be beat.They have a bunch of sauces in the back and you can create your own dipping sauce. We had initially thought of going to J's mini Hot Pot deluxe, but it looked like the same food just more expensive with more upscale decor. This is my go-to place for mini hotpot. The price is very reasonable with the amount of vegetables and meat you get for each order. My most favorite thing about this place is their sauce bar. They have several house special pre-made sauce that were super delicious to dipping. I usually order the sea and land combo with beef and beef bone soup. But recently, I discovered they have snow crab option and it was amazing. The snow crab was fresh and sweet. They came pre-cooked, so you just need to put them in the boiling hotpot so couple minutes to heat them up. They also have fresh fruit smoothies and boba tea. My two favorites are watermelon smoothie and taro milk tea. Let's get started with this restaurant was my first hot pot experience and my most recent one too, I am more than willing to drive through heavy Atlanta traffic to just eat here. The first three times I had the same waitress to help my girlfriend and me with cooking and filling up our containers with our leftovers, at the end which just made the overall experience even more enjoyable! I got the chicken broth base, which is dairy free. You get to order pretty much any combination of raw meat, and veggies you'd like. I got the chicken, pork, and steak and I must say, the key is mixing the sauces to make a broth you love! Mini Hot Pot 2 trumps Mini Hot Pot 1 (the original) on Buford Highway only because it's newer and bigger (much bigger). Since it's newer, it's got trendier, more aesthetically pleasing and inviting decor and it's cleaner. All wins in my book. Whenever I recommend an Asian hot pot place to hot pot newbies, I always recommend Mini Hot Pot 2 over Mini Hot Pot 1 for the aforementioned reasons. The only downside to Mini Hot Pot 2, particularly to ITP'ers, is its location in Duluth, which can be quite a drive for many Atlantans. However, if you want good hot pot in the Atlanta area, you'll have to travel to Gwinnett to find it. Mini Hot Pot 2 and Shabu & Shabu (opened 2012) are my current favorites with S&S holding the ever-so-slight edge over MHP2. Either way, you can't go wrong. MHP2 is the more popular between the two. I estimate Mini Hot Pot 2 can hold about 60+ customers. I once made a reservation here for 20 people on a Saturday night and was surprised that the owner/manager accepted such a large party reservation with no hesitation. It was nice of her to hold that many seats for us on their busiest night. The first batch of our group arrived promptly a few minutes before the reservation time. We saw several small groups waiting for tables by the door, yet management had set aside 3 tables for us with "Reserved" signs. So, if you have a large group and you want to dine here, make a reservation. Mini Hot Pot is named as such because each customer gets his/her own hot pot. The tables, which are quite nice by the way (the top consists of a plate of glass covering real stones), are bolted to the floor and have hot pots installed into them. The hot pot is filled with the broth and ingredients of your choice and you can control the temperature of the hot pot yourself by using the knobs and dials located underneath the table. The restaurant offers 16 different kinds of hot pot (e.g. beef, pork, chicken, lamb, snow crab leg, sliced fish, seafood, mixed vegetables, etc.) in 6 different kinds of broth: beef, chicken, miso, vegetarian, herbal, and Thai soup. Generally, expect to pay about $12.95 to $15.95 per person for hot pot. If it's your first time, I recommend ordering the beef bone broth with the beef hot pot (#1 on the menu). It's basic and flavorful. One order of hot pot comes with the meat(s) you selected along with a plate of veggies and extras. This "extras" plate includes an egg, napa cabbage, spinach, tofu, taro root, clear noodles, fish balls, enoki mushrooms, small corn on the cob, slice of tomato, sausage, tofu skin, shiitake mushroom, imitation crab, and maybe one or two other items I've forgotten to mention. As you can see, it's a lot of food and the layout, presentation, and actual self-cooking of the food is all part of the fun and experience of eating Chinese hot pot. If you're still hungry or want some extras, you can order extra ingredients for anywhere from $2.50 (e.g. Chinese vegetables) to $6.95 (e.g. scallops). They have about 40 different a la carte extras you can add to your order. I've heard hot pot prices are cut in half at lunchtime, but I haven't been able to confirm myself. Overall, I've found all of the ingredients here, from the vegetables to the meats, to be of good quality. As I've written in my review for other hot pot restaurants in metro Atlanta, the key to really enjoying the food at hot pot is by making a good dipping sauce. There is a small sauce bar, which almost every customer goes to. Grab a bowl at the sauce bar and start pouring into it the sauces you want to eat. You can mix and match the sauces and spices to create your own sauce, which you can dip your meats and veggies into. Examples of sauces at the sauce bar include soy, sesame, and peanut sauce. Spices/seasonings include white pepper, chili oil, Sriracha, chopped cilantro, and raw, diced garlic. If you are having trouble making a sauce, ask one of the servers and they can probably make you a good one. Be sure to grab ladles from the sauce bar. They offer both the solid and mesh ladles, which makes scooping up food from the hot pot much easier than trying to grab with chopsticks (still normal practice) or a regular Asian soup spoon. I've found the service here to be very good. The servers are friendly and proactive about separating checks if groups are dining. If you are running out of broth, the servers will bring boiling hot water in a big kettle and refill your pot for you. If you love Japanese shabu shabu or American fondue -- there's a good chance you'll enjoy Chinese hot pot too. I love hot pot. It's fun to create your own, and it's the perfect meal for cold weather. The space is nice too esp. compared to their Chamblee location which is more like a dive. Service is super friendly and attentive too. The menu looks overwhelming b/c there are so many options -- but basically just pick your meat (vegetarian option available too!) and broth, you'll also get a huge plate of veggies to go in your hot pot, and then make your own sauce for dipping your meat and veggies! BEEF HOT POT - $14.95 Broth: I ordered the Beef Bone Broth (very good) -- but tasted my friend's Miso Broth ($1.50 more) and I think I'll get that next time (yum) ... also b/c Miso is good for you :) FYI they will ask if you want the hot & spicy broth but save the $.75 and get the spicy flavors from your homemade sauce. As your meats and veggies soak up the broth (also from eating the broth, haha) -- the servers will come by to add more broth. Meat: The beef cut is the thin beef brisket - the pile of meat slices looked like a lot but they really do shrivel up and shrink when they boil :) The meat cooks w/in seconds so you really just want to put in 2 pieces at a time and then immediately remove and eat w/ your dipping sauce. Sauces: The key to a tasty experience is the dipping sauce. The condiment bar may overwhelm you but just take a little of all your favorites and stir. If you don't like the final result, go back and try again :) Mine had sweet seafood sauce, soybean sauce, garlic chili sauce, garlic, green onions, cilantro and jalapeno. I put some in my broth but mostly I used it to dip my cooked meats and veggies. Vegetables: The veggies are fresh and diverse. Don't put all the veggies in at once - think about what veggies take more time to cook. Just to give you an idea what veggies are provided -- corn, cabbage, spinach, taro, fish cake, radish, enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, tomato, tofu, tufo skin, fried tofu ... also an egg and hot dog slices (surprisingly good!). The veggies taste great w/ the dipping sauce :) Noodles: Hot pot also includes noodles - I got the Sweet Potato Noodles which taste like the jap chae noodles (clear vermicelli) ... but I was too full to eat them. You're supposed to add your noodles at the end after your broth has soaked up all the flavors from your meats and veggies. Next time I'd probably get the Yellow Noodle ($.75 extra?) -- I tried my friend's and it had more flavor and I loved the chewy texture. I really like this location, to bad it's a hike from Atlanta. It's a great place to take folks for their first Chinese hot pot experience. I tell them it's like fondue only better. 1) You start with a broth: I love beef bone. Make it spicy for .75 extra. The Chicken broth is ok, if you like mellow flavors you might prefer it. 2) Then pick your meats. I always pick the Beef Hot Pot-it's thinly sliced beef (all the meats are thinly sliced to cook faster). All combo's and meats come with a giant plate of Asian veggies that includes cabbage, an egg (crack it in), roots, corn, hot dog slice, tofu, radishes, etc. 3) If you dare you then get sides ($2-$6 extra). Here are my favorite: Beef ball combo- it comes with both beef ball and beef tendon ball. The tendon ball has a better flavor that I prefer. Think of it as a meat ball you throw in the soup. Shrimp paste- it's fresh ground shrimp that you throw in the soup in pieces and out comes a marvelous shrimpy ball. Some folks get udon or raman noodle as an extra. You don't need the sweet potato noodle - you already get some on the pile of veggies. 4) Make sure you go to the sauce bar. Create whichever sauce you will need for dipping-nutty, spicy, vinegary, etc. 5) First you throw in the veggies, give them a few minute to cook. Then your sides if you want. Fish out what you want to eat with the handy ladle and net they provide. The fresh/raw meats go in next. A big rule to keep in mind is that you don't pull anything out once the meats go in. Wait the the meats cook to prevent getting food with raw bacteria. Never throw it all in at once. As a friend told me, you end up with a big mushy mess. Most items only need a few minutes to cook. Meats will need 3-4 minutes. I love that we got to have 2 broths at not extra charge so we shared a combo. We were told that when you get 3 or more sides you get an extra broth at no charge. A total meal will cost about $20-$30 and I always share since it's so much food. They offer you aprons which it seems like only the amateurs wear, and me of course. They also offer an assortment of bubble teas and smoothies. I'm partial to the mango. At the end we got shaved ice with red bean on top. I love Azuki bean anything. read more

This was my first Non-Korean hotpot and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it! I came with my sister on Saturday around 5pm. There were 2 other tables when we entered. We were quickly seated and given a food menu and drink menu. Like normal hotpots, you choose from a variety of meats, seafood, or veggie -- and then choose your base broth. My sister ordered for me as she's been here several times prior. We ordered the beef with beef broth and a side of udon noodles. We barely had to wait before they brought everything out. I love the veggies that they brought out- cabbage, spinach, potato, piece of bell pepper, onions, 3 kinds of mushrooms, Sausage, corn, fish cakes, carrot, tofu, tomato-- and a few others. Definitely more variety than what I'm used to at korean hotpots. When it comes to hotpot, the soup & sauce really makes the experience. The soup was delicious and the sauce is however you make it. I chose to go with the pre-made Korean sauce and added a little peanut sauce because it seemed a bit too spicy. Obviously, it was different but good in its own way. We also ordered kiwi smoothies. I got mine with tapioca. YUMMMM. Real kiwis grinded up and the tapioca was delicious- soft and very chewy. I'd say it's a close one between Kung fu Tea's (Dare I say). We wanted watermelon smoothie but that wasn't available, not sure if that's seasonal. At the end of the meal-- you have a choice between lychee or red bean snow. Which is basically shaved ice with lychee or red bean. Very nice way to end the meal and really cool how they give you dessert ! The service was very good. Extremely attentive but it didn't seem like they had designated tables so my sister was asked if she wanted more soup about 5-6 times to which she replied "no" every time. I've been going to J's Mini for years now and I'm not sure what has taken me so long to do a review but here goes: If you're looking for a new experience and some delicious food then this is the spot for you. When you come to hot pot be prepared to make your own food. The servers give you your choice of beverage, take your order, and deliver your order but you have to cook it. Like I mentioned Hot Pot is an experience. Step 1: order your food. Typically, my partner and I order the 2 meat combo and get additional sides. This way is affordable for us, plus we get extras of our favorite sides. Our meats Beef and Lamb. You also have your choice of broth, we go for the spicy beef broth. Step 2: Make your sauce (completely optional) I like to make mix the sauces, my go to is the BBQ Sauce, Sweet Thai Sauce, and a Spicy sauce. Toss in some green onions and garlic, and stir. Step 3. Get ready to make your food! The serves are quick, by time you make your sauce and come back to your table your broth is boiling and your food is either on the table or coming. Hot pot consist of a lot of vegetables, there's spinach, cabbage, mushrooms (2-3 different types), potatoes (2-3 different types), tofu (fried and raw), a little sausage, an egg, pickled cabbage, and fish balls. We love the fried tofu, Oyster, and Woodear mushrooms, and the fish balls so we get extra sides of those. You also have a choice of Noddles. Typically, I get the sweet potato noodles but they have Shang-Hai, Ramen and other types of noodles to pair. Once your water boils start throwing in some food and prepare your meal! I always boil my egg first, throw in some fish balls, maybe a fried tofu and a taro(potato). I toss in my cabbage and spinach once the water is boiling, cooks faster and doesn't absorb all the spicy oils in the broth. Step 4: Enjoy your meal and when asked if you want dessert, say yes because who doesn't like dessert! Before you head visit there, though, read all the following instructions below: ***** STEP 1) ASSEMBLE YOUR CREW OF 6 OR FEWER Hit up your homie who loves to grub, for hours on end. Text that one skinny girl who can devour more food than you, somehow. (Seriously, where does it all go?) Get the band back together. It's gonna be epic. Also, having a crew of six or fewer is easier to land a reservation. Don't forget to call, so you don't have to wait 30+ minutes. STEP 2) KNOW WHERE TO GO & PARK Use either Google Maps or Waze. --Upon arrival, be prepared for slowly moving cars piloted by reckless drivers. They do not give a f*** who's behind them. It's dangerous, yo, but you'll be ok. If you have trouble finding a spot then park at the lot next to the bank next door. Step 3) ORDERING -- A GUIDE Here's a step-by-step guide on how to order food at J's: a) Pick your broth: Whether it's beef, chicken, vegetarian, miso, herbal, Thai Tom-Yum, or beauty booster (lol), there's a lot to choose off of the menu. The most common ones are the first three. Personally, I'd recommend either the chicken or Thai Tom-Yum. Flavor-wise, they're the best. b) Entree vs. Combo: Are all of y'all sharing food? Getting your own thing? If you have picky eaters -- who are THE WORST -- then let them choose a combo. Those who love #teamentree get several. *Note: Whether entree or combo, each comes with a gigantic plate of veggies. All the food they use is about above average quality found at any Asian or international grocery store. I recommend their beef, pork, lamb, or fish fillet entrees. c) Creating your own sauce: There's a sauce bar in the back corner of the restaurant, and it has several different sauces and toppings. I like my spicy chili sauces with sesame paste and cilantro. YOLO. Step 4) FEAST MODE After assembling your dipping sauce, the server will bring your steaming, broth-filled hot pot as well as your grub. Once your pot begins boiling like crazy, throw your food in there and grub. It's traditional to eat until food comes out of your eyeballs and your stomach is full and happy. Step 5) PAY THE BILL You spent how much? It's worth it, though. And remember, you're probably going to sleep in their parking lot tonight anyway. For one my friend's friend birthday, they chose this location as the location of choice. A bit out of the way from my regular hunting ground but the promise of a new experience is always a good motivator. This place is in a shopping/restaurant complex so there is no worry about parking. The inside layout is nice and open. The way it works is that you "cook" your food. They bring you somewhat raw meat, vegetables, egg, tofu, noodles, etc and your job is to dump it in a broth and let it cook until you are satisfied. It's quite a bit of work. They have a sauce bar in the back and you can make interesting mixes to go with your food. I had the beef and lamb. It was pretty good. As a guy who doesn't eat much vegetable, it wasn't very filling. I tried also one of their coconut milk tea. That was pretty good. Would recommend that drink. Back to the space, it's VERY cramped. At the tables, it was quite annoying to manage to have your food and drink in the table and be comfortable. Putting all 6 plates on the TINY table was an ordeal in it of itself. That really did take away from the experience. The staff is nice, patient, and welcoming. They don't rush you and they understand that everything may be a bit of a learning curve. Kudos on them for that. I'd recommend to try the restaurant but the space issue is one that I cannot overlook. I've been wanting to try J's Mini Hot Pot because I've heard such good reviews from friends and acquaintances so I decided to stop by for lunch. I walked in by myself and I was seated at a table for 4. They don't have any tables smaller than a table for 4 and seating is limited so I don't advise bringing a party that is more than 6 and even then, a table for 6 is limited. The tables are equipped with individual pots that are covered with plates and there are chopsticks and ladles. Spoons, forks, and knives can be found at the sauce bar. For menu options, you can choose between the lunch menu and the dinner menu if you are there for lunch, which I forgot to note what time lunch ends but I walked in around 12pm so i chose the lunch menu, which is very simple. You choose your broth, your hot pot options (chicken, beef, pork, etc), your carbs (udon, Shanghai noodles, Vietnamese noodles, etc) and then you get your sauce at the sauce bar. The sauce bar is small but it has everything there so you probably won't be missing anything. Because it is small, there might be traffic if there are a lot of people wanting to get their sauce at the same time so you will have to wait. In my case, I had to wait for a few minutes before I had access to the sauce bar. There are sauce bowls at the bar and there are also bigger bowls for soup or for a bigger portion of sauce. Service was good. The waitresses were attentive and they gave me my space, which was nice. They brought me my check in a timely matter and though it was just me, I didn't feel rushed to leave. I will definitely come back for lunch and dinner whenever I'm in the mood. Lunch was around $10 and dinner is pretty affordable as well, between $15 and $19 for an entree and that's not including the add ons (such as fish balls, quail eggs, udon, etc) and those vary in price. This was my first time trying hot pot! We chose this place through yelp. We went on a Tuesday night & there was plenty of parking available in the parking lot. Despite it being a weekday there was a pretty good amount of tables filled. We spoke with the waitress & who I think could possibly have been the owner who also helps, explaining that this was our first time. From there our experience only went up, both explained the menu, & process of ordering & even made recommendations. I got the beef hot pot with spicy beef bone broth. You can go to the sauce bar & get your own sauces but the waitress made some for us and brought it to our table. The food came out super quick & along with the meat, came a huge plate of mixed vegetables, tofu, fish balls & fish skin. You also have the option of ordering more but it does cost extra. The portions were definitely more than enough for 1 person. The broth itself was SO good. It wasn't too too spicy & extremely flavorful. I was really wanting to sip on the soup & eventually ran low, & the waitress came to refill my pot with more soup! Overall, my experience was great. The service was amazing and the food was even better. I eat soup year round but imagine it tasting x10 better when it's cold out. I would say the most I waited here was about 30 mins or less - this kills while you decide which selection you want to get. I typically get the seafood platter with a side of veggies with thai broth. Once you place your order, hurry up once to the sauce area. There's no limit as of what you can get so why not try out all of them?! My sister and I had been craving hotpot for a while now and finally decided to venture out of Alpharetta to get some authentic hotpot in Duluth. We came on a Tuesday night and were able to find parking easily and were seated immediately. The table was a bit sticky and it wasn't super clean but we were excited to eat since we drove 45 minutes. I got the angus beef hotpot with beef bone broth, udon noodles and honeydew bubble tea. My sister got the vegetable hotpot with spicy beef bone broth and replaced with udon noodles. We both had huge plates of various vegetables and stuff (napa, spinach, tofu, mushrooms, taro, potato, fish balls, tomato, corn, etc). The bone broth soup was amazing - we were both super obsessed. It is light but has a great aroma and delicious taste. It was perfect for fall! The equipment itself was a bit off, the dials for turning the hotpot lower/higher wasn't very consistent. It would be at a low setting but the broth would be spilling out on the table. Hopefully it was just that table. Replacing the original noodles with udon was $1.50 extra each, just FYI because we didn't know that when we ordered. My sisters order didn't come with an egg, but mine did so I'm not sure if it was just forgotten or it didn't come with the vegetable hotpot. The meat was perfectly portioned as well and tasted great after cooking in the hot pot. The honeydew bubble tea was also pretty good - I had asked for half sweet. We created our own dipping sauces and this is what I put in mine: sesame oil, Chinese bbq sauce, chili oil, green onion, garlic. This is my absolute go-to since I was a child so I never stray from it. Dipping sauce is super important in hotpot just because we need that extra spice/flavor when eating light broths. Tldr: Fun experience, you cook everything yourself, share a meat with your friends, your meal will come with a plate full of vegetables and assorted items, no need to order extra items, table has 4 hot-pots/seats max, two dollar sign range I actually wasn't excited to try this place when my good friend wanted soup on a warm summer day, but not wanting to be indecisive and difficult, I decided to go ahead and try it. I had come here years ago, but barely remembered my experience. The menu is very user-friendly and as long as you don't think too much about it, it's easy to pinpoint what you want. My friend and I shared the meats. We got lamb & beef meat combo as well as chicken. She got a beef broth and I got a thai soup broth which reminded me of a hot & sour consistency. My friend also made a sauce combination for her broth. I chose, what I think was, yummy sauce mixed with garlic and a tad bit of peanut sauce for my combination. So the way it works: the servers bring your broth and warm up your hot pot. You add whatever you want to cook and hang out with your friend while it cooks. Simple! It is kind of like Korean BBQ where there is raw meat in front of you and you cook it. The servers don't even touch your items. You do all the cooking. I enjoyed being able to choose what I wanted to eat at what point in the meal. The meats come with a HUGE dish of vegetables, fish balls, egg, lots of different assortments. Recommendations - Share your meat with a friend. Do not order more than one. Your vegetable&otherthings dish will more than make up for it. Also, do not get any extra things like dumplings like we did, unless you are really craving them, because it'll just be extra food you probably will not be able to finish at the end. The plates you get also come with raw noodles to cook. My favorite cooked items were - fish ball, spinach, mushroom, and the meats. My friend's favorite item was her corn on the cobb. I got the land and sea, which comes with a meat option and a variety of seafood - octopus, shrimps, squid, clams and fish. I like J's overall and a fan but I prefer the Chamblee location. It's bigger, newer, and like the setup more. Many years ago, I came to the Duluth location and I remember it being different. The wait was kinda long but you can call ahead if can so it cuts the wait! We got the beef and lamb hot pot which was $15 and it was a cool experience! The sauce combination is a very important to have for dipping your items! Always add cilantro at the end of your dipping sauce! Add the noodles last to your hot pot to enjoy your meal, the noodles tend to soak up a lot of the broth and then you'll have a big soupy mess! This is technically my second time here. My first visit here wasn't too stellar since I had food poisoning due to the seafood platter I ordered. This is no way the restaurant's fault but my own so do not be scared away! lol. I know this is true because the other individuals of my party didn't get sick since we spent the whole day together. The veggie plate they give you is HUGE. Seriously, it's way huge. I think the platter of meat was adequately proportioned, but my friend (who frequents hot pot restaurants often), said it was decent. I really like the sauce bar. You have about a dozen different types of sauces to choose from. You can either put the sauce in the pot (suggested) or you can dip your goodies in the sauce. We always visit this location around lunch time and they never seems to be busy. We arrived at 11 and get the lunch special for around 10$ comes with a plate of beef and bowl of veggies. You can upgrade the broth to tom yum or szechuan for a couple more dollars. if you've never done hot pot before, be sure to go with a friend to show you. Literally drop the food into the pot, wait for it to cook, and enjoy! The sauce bar have a good number of options. Ask for the managers special bear sauce and he'll whip you up a batch. VEGAN & GLUTEN FREE REVIEW This is a great place to go if you've got a vegan in the party! As a vegan, going to hot pot can be hard. If I'm going out with non-vegan people, I won't eat at a place where there's just one big pot at the table - even if there's a partition that splits the pot in two, because there's too much chance for contamination. That's why I like mini pots! You get your own little pot and can do with it whatever you please. I got the vegetable broth with the veggie plate and made sure to ask about any and all animal products, including fish. When the waiters came to bring the soups, they brought a "special" red soup to one of my friends (she got a "beauty boost" for funsies) and then assumed the rest of the table got the same cow bone (beef bone?) broth. When they served me the same broth as they did my other friends, I knew they had gotten something mixed up. I asked the waiter "this is the vegetable broth, right?" and he kind of looked puzzled for a minute. Then, he apologized and brought out the veggie broth. PHEW... close call (not really, because I pay attention). FYI, the veggie broth looked brown whereas the beef bone one was basically colorless (so make sure you check). Overall, I enjoyed my meal! The veggie portion was huge and included - a ton of napa cabbage, watercress, spinach, enoki mushrooms, bean thread (vermicelli) noodles, bean curd (tofu skin things), taro root (my fav!!), tofu, king oyster mushrooms, one slice of potato, and ONE shitake mushroom. I was kind of bummed that I only got one slice of potato and one shitake mushroom, but everything else had good portions. Everything on the veggie plate was vegan and gluten free and I didn't even have to make any subs! I didn't want to waste anything so I ate EVERYTHING which was an insane amount. The good thing about coming here with friends who eat meat is that I get the veggies they don't want because their combo plates come with a huge veggie portion + a meat portion. Make sure you go to the sauce bar. It's kind of hidden behind a half wall, but it's across the way from the cashier's area. They've got green onions, garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce, chili oil, and all that good stuff. I didn't actually try any of the sauces because I didn't know exactly what was in them, but I definitely got the other stuff. Fairly economical for hot pot options. Each entree is per person, you don't share a hot pot. You pick a broth and then an entree options. The entrees range from $13-19. Chicken, beef bone and vegetarian broths are free. You can do add ons, the add ons are not that expensive, most are only $3, or $5 for meats. The entrees already come with veggies, meat if you pick the non-vegetarian option and vermicelli noodle. At the end they give you a free shaved ice, holla! They have a sauce station, plenty of sauces to choose from, all labeled clearly. Service here is pretty good as well, and the restaurant has a good ambiance and is clean. Our waitress explained everything to us since it was our first time, and even made a few sauces for my wife and I. We shared one pot since it's a lot of food.
