I had been searching on various Edmonton buy/sell groups for raised planters. If you have ever searched for these at big box or garden stores, they are usually around 200.00, made of resin, and typically pretty ugly. I have a Rocky-Mountain style garden decor with bricks, pavers, and railroad tie retaining walls, so resin is not really what I'm looking for.
Lucky for me, Jason loves working with wood, and charged me 120.00 with delivery for what you see in the photo.
He ended up getting tied up on the day of delivery, and was a day late. I wasn't distressed about this at all, since it was early in the season and who isn't a bit late these days anyway? But Jason had to go the extra mile -- his wife sent along three different varieties of pepper plant she'd been growing inside, and even included instructions on how to "top" the plants and keep their fruit from growing until July so I'd have the best yield! That little act of kindness made me a fan forever. I'll be watching their news feed for new products this summer and in summers to come.
The quality of the planter is excellent -- all it needs is a layer of rock, some soil, and a little hanging solar lantern, and planting will begin! I will post another photo once everything's at full tilt. Watch jshandmadegallery on FaceBook for new items Jason can build for you. read more
