They have a little visitor center when you can buy a bunch of souvenirs, snacks, and can get a stamp in your SC state parks passport. If this review was solely on the trails and beauty, it would be a 5/5 but unfortunately the campsite brings it down a bit. The campsite is on the larger side, and has 3 bathhouses to accommodate the area (close to you). You are given the basics like a picnic table & fire ring. Sites 1-29 have 20/30/50 amps, and 36-84 have 20/30 amp electric hookups. Sites 1-9 are full service (also have sewer). These sites do not give you a lot of privacy, and it seems like they built as many sites as they could in a confined area instead of spreading the sites out a bit to give the camper a bit more privacy. The bathhouses are clean, but are very dated and are in desperate need of a renovation. If you are not a camper, you will be charged an entrance fee of $6 if you are an adult, $3.75 for seniors (65+), or $3.50 for children (6-15). Overall, a 5/5 for the beauty of the park and amenities outside of the campsite, but 2/5 for the campsite itself.

While you obviously get a great view of the Congaree River, there's also an abundance of flora and fauna for you to look at, and it's fun to try and spot the turtles perched up on the rocks on a sunny day. There's also a lot of really cool pieces of artwork painted onto the bridge-beams surrounding the river, as well as an assortment of picnic tables and viewing benches for you to sit down and relax. All-in-all, I love the Riverwalk, and I'll be coming back for years to come.

We love the park itself, but feel like we are being interrogated and our every move watched by the Board of Directors and their friends. For example, we recently went and one of the dogs tried to fight our dog who immediately ran away and did not engage. I was very kind about it and our dog was okay so we just politely walked away. A few minutes later the owners of the same dog came up to us and our friend we let in and told her to physically show her phob or she couldn't let us stay because she was on the Board of Directors. So, your dog tried to attack mine, but you'll kick us out for forgetting a phob? How is that okay? It's just not a welcoming environment. Their rules and their attitude have worn us down and it feels more like military school than a dog park. It's just not worth it.

I'm a biker myself, but didn't think that the trail was large enough for large groups on bikes. But then again, are most trails ever?? There are plenty of balls and toys laying around to play with, two doggie pools, a water hose, a sandbox, benches, some agility course equipment, buckets and a hydrant for water, and a gazebo for owners to sit under. There are plenty of shaded areas for dogs to run around in as well. It also gives me peace of mind knowing that all dogs must be fully vaccinated to have access to the park. The park is secure with a passcode for that purpose. We enjoy our visits!

I actually brought both of my humans and they made some friends while I cooled off in the pool. I love seeing them off leash without a care in the world. There's a bathing suite optional pool but please keep your humans out. I Had a chance to chase a labradoodle, he was quite the stud and we definitely hit it off. Not gonna lie I'm hoping to run into him more often. There's also a trail area with a nice shaded area to relax but my human kept wanting to play throw so I obliged and chased after the ball for him. The park does require a membership for your human. All human owners must be current on required shots and spayed/neutered. The Barking Lot is open during normal park hours.* There are no day passes and the cost is $40 per year. This does not include the cost to get into the park ($45 per year or $5 per visit) The barking lot is closed on Tuesdays from 9-11 for maintenance. Some things I suggest you bring: -Towel or rag to wipe off after the pool - If you have wipes, bring them to clean drool off your face. Canines are known for wet kisses and greet each other this way. - There is plenty of water but if you must drink filtered bring your own - poop bags ... There are some at the park but my human has had to improvise because they ran out. He can be so creative sometimes. Remember to make sure you don't eat right before coming to play. Finlay Park offers a GREAT playground with slides, rope ladders, climbing limbs, splash pad, and turf slide. Plenty of room to relax or log a few steps. There is a beautiful water fountain, grotto and pond where they offer sailboat rentals . There is also 2 miles of sidewalk and pathways for walking or taking advantage of the roller skate rentals they offer. Not to mention pickleball courts, ping pong, soccer goals, and fitness court. A round of applause to the City of Columbia for this amazing recreational and public space.

I had heard nothing but good…read morethings about it from those who attended the grand re-opening, so my expectations were set pretty high... well, I can say that it certainly did not disappoint! First and foremost, I must say that it was simply awesome to see the signature water sculpture flowing and spinning again. That alone went a long way in restoring the signature feel of the park. Furthermore, I absolutely loved the landscaping below the fountain, which consisted of a small stream running through some perfectly manicured rocks and bushes. In addition to the landscaping, I absolutely loved the modern artwork that was incorporated into the park. There was a beautiful yet funky mural that was created by a Columbia-raised artist, and the park also had some really cool 21st-century sculptures, most of which directly represented the state of South Carolina and the city of Columbia. The park also had a really cool calisthenic workout station, which looked perfect for a complete bodyweight workout session, as well as pickleball courts that anybody can play on. Moreover, although I do not have children myself, the park looked like the perfect place for kids to run around for hours and hours. From what I could see, there was a huge climbing platform, two (2) enormous slides, multiple sets of different types of swings, and, what appeared to be a hill that the kids could slide down using burlap sacks. 10-year-old me would have marveled at the quality of this playground! Finally, there was a huge platform stage to hold concerts on, and a nice, well-manicured plain of grass for attendees to watch and enjoy on. All-in-all, I can't say enough good things about the re-opening of Finlay Park, and I'll be excited to come back for days and years to come!
