We are blessed to have found Javier at J's Mechanic. He's saved me a couple thousand dollars over the dealership and other local mechanics. Ex 1: I had an oil leak in my BMW, BMW of Newport dealership and mechanic in CM said I had a cracked tray and needed to replace the whole oil pan and tray. (Instead of taking the time to find the leak, it would have been easier and more profitable to change out everything). Javier diagnosed it as just the seal/ gasket needing replacement. Saved me $$$. Ex 2: I needed a new rear window replacement and thought I had broken the glass inside the door panel. I ordered both a window replacement and glass for installation. Javier found the glass was actually not broken. He could have replaced it or taken the part, but instead I was able to return the glass and save some hard earned money. read more

My daughter bought a used van and was told it would need a new transmission and distributor cap. Rivera's Transmission (in Santa Ana) determined it didn't need a new transmission, and referred the van to J's Automotive Service to diagnose the sputtering and shaking. J's Automotive kept the van another day and determined it was the distributor cap. The van no longer shakes and sputters. So I come here without an appointment and as soon as I parked my car, Javier heard what was wrong. He took my van in right away. After he changed the break pads he showed me how I wore out the pad completely, if I had waited one more day, I would have scratched the disc and the repair would have been much more expensive! OK this review is long overdue but better late then never! I will say hands down this Javier is the best mechanic ever and he is car master mechanic! If you do not want to take your car to a dealer and would like to save money without having to worry about feeling like getting ripped off when having any car troubles mine or major then this is the place to go! Ok the location might make some worried as parking and the looks of the area might make you think where are you leaving your car etc... I have been taking my car here since 2010. J is the best mechanic I have ever had. I live in LA and take my car all the way to Santa Ana when I need anything serious done. Most of the time he knows the diagnosis over the phone before I bring my car in. He has saved me $3,000 on a repair once (another place told me I needed a new CPU module so I took it to J ... he figured out it was just some bad cable connections). Can't say enough good things about this guy and this shop. And he tries to save you money wherever he can. He knows his stuff. And his workmanship is excellent.
