If you're looking to change your dead, dried lawn or backyard into something more manageable and uses less water (California is in a drought after all!), definitely check this guy out. He is courteous, professional and is passionate about what he is doing. Don't be afraid to get involved with the design too because he will work with you. I'll start this by saying I've not written to many reviews on Yelp. Only when the service goes above and beyond. Jordan, Travis & the crew did just that. I'm skeptical to hire anyone for anything. I'm a DIY guy. However, for the backyard I just didn't have it in me. I needed to do the diligent research and make sure I didn't get taken by any "CON"tractors out there. After speaking with the Brothers, from day one they earned my trust with their quick responsiveness and experience. Not only did they do everything i asked for within the budget i planned, they went above and beyond what we discussed to make sure the job was done right. They did not cut any corners whasoever. Along the way Jordan stayed in touch making sure we were happy with the work. When the work day was over they left the yard free of any tripping hazards. I wanted a drought tolerant landscape to conserve on water and maintenance. Jordan is extremely knowledgeable about the native California plants and irrigation to accomplish my goal. I had in mind plants that would attract Butterfly's and Hummingbirds and that is exactly what I got! We used natural elements like decomposed granite to soften the hardscape and took advantage of the natural drainage flow line with a rock river bed. Working with Jordan was a pleasure. Very disappointed. Work was completely shoddy and rushed. No attention to detail. Two sprinklers were broken which he had to come repair. Then another one in my backyard broke that flooded my yard that I had to replace myself. They used wooden stakes for my bender board and smashed nearly every one, with nails sticking out. I had to go buy nice plastic stakes myself and replace them all. My backyard was supposed to we leveled and removed of roots, that didn't happen. Couldn't be happier with our new yard! I'm not usually one to write reviews, but we had the best experience with Preston Landscaping, so I hope others can benefit from this. We thought we had a good idea what we wanted for our yard, but Jordan was able to make it even more beautiful than we imagined. He has a knack for aesthetics and created a beautiful design for our backyard through use of borders, a variety of plants, and different sizes of rock for texture. They were late EVERY day.... not a few minutes late, HOURS late. All I wanted was mulch put in along with some more drought tolerant plants. I had worked VERY hard on my yard over the years and had beautiful established mature plants and trees but became pregnant which is why I hired them. I told them many times to keep my established plants and trees. I came home and everything was gone. My whole front yard is just mulch now and the FIVE yes only 5 plants they planted already died. He actually met with me about a few hours after the first message. I explained to him about what I was looking for and told him how much I could spend. He was absolutely great about drawing a great quick design end executed on it brilliantly. I was very happy with the end result. These guys did a great job on my yard with my limited budget. After reading the reviews on Yelp I already knew I was going to have Jp install my landscape. He showed up on a Saturday morning had the bid and design sent out later that evening. I agreed on the proposal and happily sent them half down to start the project. Sure enough they showed up the following week 8am, began leveling the dirt clearing the weeds laying out curved edging and weed block. Very satisfied customer here! While looking around for someone to replace and upgrade my backyard Preston Landscaping was recommended to me by some folks in my neighborhood. After contacting Travis he was at my house within 48 hours to consult, measure and help me plan out the project. The bid came quickly, wasn't the highest, and wasn't the lowest....but I was sold on the customer service. Demo began within the week, and the yard was completed in 2 weeks....just what was promised. Travis Jordan and their crew were prompt, considerate, and very skilled at their craft. Both of the brothers were available to answer any questions, and worked with me on changes along the way. Travis kept in touch with updates daily, even asking if it was ok to work on weekends. We were most likely impressed by how clean they kept the job site. It was great to see that they cared about how the job site looked when they left for the day! I got Jordans bid that was a little on the higher end but the confidence I had in them made the choice easy. I had a budget that I NEEDED to stay with and an idea of what I wanted. They were able to do that without cutting corners. They did concrete, flagstone patios, put in a fountain, decomposed granite pathways, an amazing fire pit as well as a small vineyard. I had Preston landscaping switch my pain-in-the-butt-water-hungry parking median to be drought friendly, while adding some punch to my curb appeal! After settling on the details they were able to complete the job within two days. The job consisted of removing the old grass, installing a solar drip system, planting a variety (about a dozen) of plants, and covering everything else with pea gravel rock. I'm so psyched about everything Preston Bros landscapes did for me. I needed their help doing all the things I couldn't realistically do myself. Jordan and Travis gave me a quote for everything I was asking for at my house in Manteca. I wanted my lawn converted to a zero-scape, decomposed Granite walkways installed plants alongside my pool area and a small dog fence. The guys that came in every day nice respectful and efficient. **BEWARE!!! Jordan Preston of JP Landscaping took our $1,500 deposit and ran!! I inquired about an estimate from him because of all his 5 star reviews on yelp. He came by and gave us an estimate on our backyard landscaping project for $10,000. We agreed to the bid, he then asked for a $1,500 deposit up front which we regrettably gave. The next day he came in and did half a day of work (maybe $200-300 of labor) and never came back. After he stopped showing up for a few days I emailed him and he said he "had a baby" and would be back next week. Not only did he not show up again, but I never heard from him again either. I emailed him several times, called and left voicemail and text messages and zero response!! How can you bail on your customer like that after taking their money?! He still owes us over $1,000 of our deposit back which I am already filling out paperwork to take him to small claims court for. I did a lookup on him and low and behold he has an existing judgement against him as well. I did a search for "JP Landscaping" through sos.ca.gov online business database and his business doesn't exist either. There's no license # or anything associated with his name and he is the supposed business owner. DO NOT work with this scam artist!!! read more

After finding them #1 rated Landscapers in my area my husband and I decided to go with Jordan at JP-Landscaping. He created several designs for us and was able to work within our budget. Jordan was knowledgeable about all of the plants and materials needed for the project. He was available when he said he would be, and his workers were on time too. When we decided to transform our large front lawn into a drought tolerant yard, we were surprised how few drought-tolerant landscapers there were with positive reviews on Yelp. Preston Landscapes was among the few. We gave them a call and now we get to add our take. Travis and Jordan are a great team, listening to our ideas and then doing it right with their talented team. We talked about having a mini-rock garden as seen on PINTREST, and that's pretty much how it's turned out. We often see walkers and even cars stopping to look at the yard, which sure didn't happen when it was boring grass! We've been shocked by how fast the plants have grown and how the maintenance guy doesnt come every week now! These guys seem to be motavated and really trying to expand thier client base to succeed. HOMEOWNERS...ALERT...ALERT...ALERT...ALERT...DO NOT HIRE! After a lengthy search for a drought tolerant landscaper, I also found Preston Landscaping on Craigslist. After reading the only review on Yelp, and it's a 5 stars, I decided to give them a call and see what they have to offer. I contracted Preston on 8/14/2015 and scheduled an appointment for them to come out and give me an estimate. They said, they were busy with some other projects and will be more than happy to meet on 08/21/1015 between 10-11 am. The day before the appointment, i received a text confirming the appointment. On the day of the appointment, they arrived late. The appointment was from 10-11 am, they didn't show up till 1140 am. Travis and another gentlemen by the name of Jordan showed up. My wife and I spoke with Travis and told him that we wanted a drought tolerant landscaping. They took the time to listen to our needs and wants and appeared to be very knowledgable. Like a car salesman, they gave us a GREAT SALE speech of what they can do with the budget that we had. They gave us a rough estimate and told us to wait for his email. As promised, the email arrived within 24 hrs. And on it was a landscape bid and design. We were given several options on materials and plants. My wife was not happy with the design and material selections that will be used. Over the next couple of days, we exchanged text. I texted him numerous pictures of ideas, materials and drought tolerant plants that my wife wants. They redid the design and incorporated the materials and plants that my wife requested in the new bid. We agreed to meet once more to go over some details before the start project. We meet on 08/27/2015, and again they were an hour late. We review the contract and details with Travis and Jordan. We were verbally told the plants that will be brought for the project. These plants included, Blue fescue, Mexican feather grass, and Agave. We agreed to proceed with the contract with the start date of 09/08/15 between 9-930 am and a completion date of 09/12/2015 by 4pm. Again, they were late the first day. I have to text Travis to find out where he's at. He finally texted saying they will be here before noon. With a work crew of 3, they started their day. They rototill the ground and removed debris from 2 of 3 areas that was supposed to be done. They ended the day, collected the deposit and told me they will be back the following morning. Guess what!!! NO SHOW, AND NO CALLS....All i got was an email with a receipt of the deposit and a note saying they will be back on Thursday cause materials were not in. Thursday came, and they didn't SHOW OR CALL.. Their excuse was that both of their trucks over heated. I gave them the benefit of a doubt and didn't question any further. 9/11/2015, Friday morning, they were off to another late start again. They arrived, and appeared to be rushing now. They off loaded the materials from the truck and started their day. I came out and was looking at the plants and raw materials that was purchased for the project. I was not pleased with the plants and the "BOULDERS" that were purchased. Per the contract, they were supposed to have "COLORFUL" drought tolerant plants and MEDIUM to LARGE sized moss rock "BOULDERS". Instead they were all SMALL sized moss rocks. My wife also came out and inspected the plants. She was disappointed, NO AGAVE, and NO MEXICAN FEATHER GRASS. There were 8 small blue fescue displayed in a single row in the yard. There was a variety of ornamental grasses that were in a "SORRY" state. We were further confused as both Travis and Jordan didn't make eye contact or talk to us as if they were avoiding a conversation about the plants. When we finally got Travis attention, he told us with the plants that were there, "that's what we could get for our budget, and not cutting into our profit". Prior to starting project, Travis stated that if we did not like the selection of plants, there were no problems switching it out for something else. It was clear from their demeanor that we had no choice but to proceed with the project. As my wife and I spoke, we decided to not make a fuss since we are planning to sell our home. We just need our yard landscape and make it drought tolerant period... We let them get on with their day of work. By 7 pm that evening, they said they were done with the project. I was caught off guard because the project was supposed to be a 4 day project. They insisted the project was completed. Before even getting a walk thru and even inspecting their work, I paid them in full.. BAD MISTAKE. I asked Travis to demonstrate the drip irrigation system that was installed. He stated it was installed and set to come on at 330 am in the morning. He reassured that each and every plant has its own drip. I had reached out to Travis but to no avail. I have no other choices but to forward my complaints and concerns with the BBB and CSLB. read more
