Sausage egg and cheese on GF wrap
Taylor G.

Very good breakfast wrap. I got something simple. Sausage egg and cheese on a gluten-free wrap. Only thing I would adjust is the amount of cheese. There was a lot in each bite but I'd say one or two slices would be enough for me haha. My boyfriend got the chicken and egg which was also amazing.

JP Gifford is on Main Street in Kent, down by House of Books. It seems to a hot spot amongst "kids these days" because when I went in it was packed with teenagers. It makes me feel so old to say, but egads! There was no space to sit, little space to maneuver into line. The ambiance was a bit noisy. Maybe if the outdoor seating had been open... Anyway, there are cold drinks and a coffee station, and if you're not up to waiting for a table, there are many delicious pastries to order to go. They also have a display for self stable items like cocoa powder and dog treats (my dog is loving the salmon flavor!). The pastry I ordered (a chocolate coffee cake) had good flavor, a solid line of chocolate, and traveled well with any breakage.

Devil on a highway burger

Came here with some classmates on a trip. This was one of their childhood spots and he recommends the chicken sandwich. I enjoyed my devil on the highway burger, which I got well done, and other folx enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches and pastries (like the lemon poppyseed muffin, which was very soft and most). I was pleasantly surprised that my burger was sweet, and it was filling. The Avocado Toast another friend got lacked seasoning and my hot chocolate was bland, those were not worth the price. I'd come here for a burger again though. Employees were nice and brought food to our table, calling by our name. My friend didn't get their pastry until their coffee was ready. Space wasn't too crowded on a weekend at brunch, it's a good spot whether you're a senior or you have kids.

Tried the meatloaf sandwich special and loved it. Best place for food on the stretch.

Sausage & White Bean soup

This is excellent restaurant quality food served without fuss in a deli style venue. I have to eat salad even though it bores me - the strawberry field greens had a fantastic dressing and I loved it. Props for the take out of Sausage & Bean soup too, packed with veggies and bursting with flavor. Gluten free is accommodated, so helpful. Am very impressed!

Stopped here on my way up Skiff Mountain to speak at my old high school. It was the perfect breakfast pit stop. I grabbed Sausage Egg and Cheese on a croissant- cause I'm fancy- and a coffee. It was a apple chicken sausage pattie to be clear and it was delicious. Just the right amount of cheese. The croissant was nice & soft and the sausage- again- was delicious. My classmate got the spicy sausage, egg and cheese sandwich on a roll. He said it was really good. My SEC looked way better tho- I got the flicks to prove it! The staff was kind, patient and helpful. No complaints here. There's enough seating for groups I saw some in-house made soups that I look forward to trying when I go back to Kent.

Love this place. Whenever I'm in town I come here to grab some lunch and leave with a handful of assorted pastries and cookies. They have a variety of sandwiches, salads, grain bowels and other prepared food. I usually get the white cheddar Granny Smith apple melt which is soooooo good. All the other sandwiches are also great! The French fries are also amazing. They also have an assortment of prepared food that changes day to day. Usually a selection of pasta salads Mac n cheese and some salmon. If you're in Kent this is definitely the place to get lunch.

Excellent. Delicious sandwiches and fries. Excellent service, highly recommended.White Cheddar Granny Smith Apple Melt

I stopped here to grab a breakfast sandwich after taking a hike along the nearby River Rd walk. I was able to call in and place an order for two breakfast sandwiches, one on an english muffin and the other on a croissant. They were ready quickly and delicious with their high quality meat and cheese. I will say that they were a bit more expensive than I was expecting, the bill for two sandwiches came to $15, but overall delicious. I'd recommend a visit in, they are clearly being very clean and wearing masks and gloves at this time.

Quaint deli atmosphere in downtown Kent. If you are a fan of dark coffee, order the sledgehammer. It is a wonderful roast. The customer service is nice. I stopped in with my mom, who is a tad picky. They answered all her questions in a friendly and courteous manner. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich. Delicious. Super fresh bread and the avocado and balsamic vinegar reduction really worked well. Utterly delicious and fresh sandwich. I also had a corn muffin that was very fresh and tasty as well.

Everyone seems to use pretty much the same recipe with some slight variations. The muffins I had here were weird. I don't know what that dominant spice they used is but it was really kind of awful. Weird is just the only word I can think of to describe it. And the muffin was not dense at all. It kind of fell apart when you bit into it. I took a "sour cherry" pastry home snd it was ok. However, they were out of a lot of bakery items by noon, so I'd recommend getting there early on the weekends. I went for the Smoked salmon bagel, and I kid you not, it was a religious experience. By far, the best jalapeño cheddar bagel I've ever had. I don't know how they made it but angels most definitely had to be involved. Order it with the scallion cream cheese and pay the extra $0.50 for the capers, it's worth it. I don't live in the area, so I will pray to the food gods to present me with an opportunity to return & eat that sandwich again.

She was very friendly throughout our 10 minute stay here as we chose what we want, purchased, and sat down to eat our pastries. The inside of this bakery was spacious and clean. When we came, there were no other customers since they close at 4pm. In terms of selection, I was kind of disappointed to see not a lot of options. However, we were informed that if we were looking for more choices to pick from, that it would be best to come early in the morning. That's understandable and I will certainly do that going forward when I have a craving and am in the area! Excited to see more delicious options! From what we saw, I ended getting a chocolate frosted doughnut, and my friends got a jelly filled doughnut and a cannoli with chocolate and pistachios. The chocolate frosted doughnut was more dense than I wanted but it was still good and satisfied my craving. I also tried the jelly doughnut and that one was more airy and less dense and more of the consistency of how a doughnut should be! The cannoli is different than the typically Italian ones - the cream is light and whipped, not at all dense, and less sweet. The chocolate dip and pistachios are a nice touch!

Traditional old-style dark wood, a sense of community, perfect decor to harken back to the days of stage coaches and taverns being the center of a town's social scene. Service was excellent. We never wanted for anything - but yet were not bombarded or crowded in the quaint dining room setting. The best and most important part of our meal was - well - the food. The menu is suitable for literally any dietary need without compromising their spin on elevated tavern/comfort food. Ample appetizers, interesting salads, tacos, meat/non-meat and even vegan options abound - all with terrific portion size and execution. Our entire group was pleased (and some are persnickety). Very much looking forward to returning and grateful they are in our great town.

The menu is varied - salads, sandwiches & some nicer dining options. I had the burger with pineapple chutney, cheddar cheese & bacon. My husband had a turkey club. Both came with thin crispy fries. And both were very good. Actually, my burger was very delicious & very difficult to eat (the bottom of the brioche bun was soaked from the burger/toppings) . The pineapple salsa did go really well with the burger though - I wished there was more of it. Maybe serve it on the side? Relaxing music (soft jazz, Frank Sinatra, etc ) was playing on their speaker. And it looked like they had an actual piano bar there. Wonder when there is live music? No room for dessert, even though it looked like they had some great options: wild blueberry pie, Creme brûlée & Arethusa ice cream.
