When he first started, he was really shy, hardly spoke, and would prefer playing and being alone, which was concerning me. However, my son soon began to excel. He's become more social and verbal, constantly learning new things and continuously showing improvement. When I pick him up from school, I love seeing how happy and comfortable he is playing with the other children. He now tells me about his friends and what he did that day, and sometimes, out of nowhere, he'll sing songs he learned at school. The teachers are incredibly kind, caring, and patient with all the children. They genuinely show how much they care for every child's development, well-being, and education. They are always willing to discuss any questions, recommendations, and concerns I or they may have. I appreciate it when the teacher not only informs me of his progress but also points out areas that he needs improvement in. The staff also helped me with potty training and were always understanding and accommodating to schedule changes. I have peace of mind every day when I drop him off, knowing he will be safe, well cared for, and in good hands. I completely trust my child in their care. I 100% highly recommend Discovery Montessori Preschool to any family searching for a high-quality, reliable preschool where children are encouraged to learn and develop. Thank you so much Ms. Nilani, Ms. Dishani and Ms. Ayanti! You are all greatly appreciated!

His speaking skills have improved tremendously, he's very good at math, and he has developed great behavior. A big thank you to Ms. Nilani, Dishani, and Anyati -- they are all wonderful teachers! With my son starting kindergarten this August, I know he will miss this school very much.

I attempted to contact them multiple times through phone calls/ emails, with no answers/ replied. If I showed up in person, sometimes someone buzzed me in to the office, sometimes no one in the office and I had to try another time. Good thing my kids already older and they can communicate things with me. But I will not consider this school for regular attendance based on gap of communication among staff, educators and parents. It feels that parents concerns are not appreciated. The issue that I had was class changes, updating pick up person form. Had to do it multiple times and still not updated. So if you enroll your kids in summer school, pick your classes wisely. My daughter accidentally picked 3 science classes back to back and the school did not make any attempt to help us to change it until the next two days. One of this science class, my daughter was the only student there. For third week of summer school, my daughter chose spanish class as her last class of the day, and she was enrolled to something else. ---update 7/22/26 in response to South Hills Business Manager--- Thank you for your response. I appreciate your feedback. However, I would like to understand how South Hills Academy ensures that parents are able to effectively communicate their concerns with the Summer School division when emails go unanswered, phone calls are not returned, and, upon visiting the front office in person, I was instructed to "just email the director." I followed the process your staff directed me to follow by emailing the director, yet I did not receive any response or acknowledgment from South Hills Academy. As a parent, this leaves me without a clear avenue to address legitimate concerns. I would appreciate your clarification on how parents are expected to communicate when the established channels are unresponsive. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to your response.

I am very disappointed with the Pre-K Program headed by Martha Macias…read more I am giving a warning to the parents that are looking to enroll their toddlers into the Pre-K program. Do your research and refer to the parents' experience before doing so. The way Macias is running the Pre-K program may affect your kids negatively. Don't do it unless the school decides to change its Pre-School Director. My kid was doing really great with Mrs. Lisa (Monalisa Cabrera). If there's someone good that remains in the Pre-K program, that's Mrs. Lisa. My wife and I have nothing but praises towards Mrs. Lisa. She's done a tremendous job taking care of our son and other kids as well. Few months after my kid transitioned to Ms. Thompson alongside Mrs. Macias. My kid developed an aggressive behavior something that we've never seen him had before. On March 4, 2026, Mrs. Macias informed us at "the classroom entrance" that our son was no longer allowed to attend the school due to behavioral concerns. The conversation with my wife was conducted "outside of her office, in front of other parents, kids and staff. "VERY UNPROFESSIONAL" and she's considered as the Pre-K Director. This is very concerning and scary at the same time. We feel it would have been more appropriate to discuss this privately rather than at the classroom where others could overhear. I guess our privacy and confidentiality is not of her concern. My wife had only just entered the classroom when she began speaking, and even my mother-in law, who was there to pick up my son, was standing outside. The conversation was very one-sided, and we weren't given an opportunity to share our perspective. We were simply told that "your son can no longer come here." Straight up rejection from Mrs. Macias. It was upsetting to see our young son face the reality of being rejected and asked to leave a place where he was beginning to build relationships with classmates and teachers. We believe this was a difficult situation for him to understand at such a tender age. As a 20 year Airforce and Navy veteran, if I deploy, I want nothing but the security and safety of the love ones I leave behind while fighting for this country. It's very disappointing that a supposedly "Christian" school that should provide security and peace of mind when I leave my kid in their custody wasn't able to accomplish such an important task. After this experience, I will never ever be at peace leaving my kid on any school regardless of whether it's a Christian school or not. I have a lot of colleagues - Military and Christians - and I am not advising them to enroll their kids into South Hills' Pre-K program under Mrs. Macias. As of this moment, until changes are done with the Pre-K Program, enrolling your kid is not recommendable.

Since before we even started, their administration worked with us to get my son in on a short notice. Everyone was welcoming and friendly, and made me feel secure in my decision. They are not only kind and caring, but they also challenged my kids and I was able to see their growth socially and academically. Mrs. Raquel and Mrs. Cecilia are both so wonderful at what they do! Ms Shiela was excellent in introducing both my daughters to writing/math/reading at the beginning of the year. She was able to identify different needs for each of my daughters and created a plan for us to follow at home to reinforce what was being taught at school. The time I had with Ms Shiela in the teacher parent meetings showed me that she really cared about her students and treated them as if they were her own. I am so impressed with my daughters' growth throughout the year; seeing the work they did in class and also the activities they have and are doing now at home is just amazing. We are so grateful to have had Ms. Ana and Ms. Shiela take care of and teach our kids. Ms Ana and Ms Shiela's kindness, patience, and dedication are qualities that every parent hopes to encounter on the first day of school.

I can genuinely say we have loved our experience here and both of my boys have absolutely thrived! From the Montessori-style independent learning and social environment to all the fun add-on classes like golf, dance, gymnastics, sports, and more, I've always loved how BSMA gives the kids so many different opportunities to learn, explore and just enjoy being kids. Both of my sons are pretty social, especially my oldest, and I truly believe BSMA played such an important role in building his confidence and social skills. He grew SO much during his time here, not only academically but as a person. And the teachers!!! When I say we have loved ALL of our teachers, I really mean it -- both the current teachers and some who have since moved on. They have always been so thoughtful, kind, patient, and genuinely caring toward our kids. What I'm always so impressed by, was the way teachers/director remembered every student's name, including students that weren't in their class. A huge shoutout to Ms. Mary, Ms. Brianna, Ms. Adrienne, Ms. Olivia, Ms. Kayenne, Ms. Saide, Ms. Valerie, Ms. Malorie, Ms. Bethzay, Ms. Yu, and ofc Ms. Jin! Ms. Jin was actually one of my oldest son's former teachers and is now the director, which makes it even more special. One thing I will mention is that the structure and facility are a little different from a traditional classroom setting. It's much more open and the kids have opportunities to interact and socialize with one another throughout the school. I know that might not be everyone's preference, but I actually LOVED that about BSMA. I really think it contributed to how social and confident my kids became. My thought was always: they're going to spend Kinder through high school sitting in more traditional classrooms, so why not let their first educational experience be somewhere fun, creative, open, and different? Academically, I also feel BSMA gave my oldest such a strong foundation going into elementary school. He entered Kinder incredibly prepared, to the point where I sometimes feel like he isn't being challenged as much now because he already learned so much at BSMA! That really speaks to what a phenomenal job they did preparing him. Another thing I really appreciate is how well they keep parents updated through ClassDojo. Throughout the day, we get photos and detailed updates about what the kids are learning and doing, what they ate, restroom updates, and more. The teachers will often include lengthy descriptions explaining the activities and what the kids are learn/play, which I've always appreciated. You really get a glimpse into your child's day instead of just dropping them off and wondering what they did for the day! I'm so grateful that Bright Star Montessori Academy is where both of my boys got to begin their educational journeys. It will always hold such a special place in our family's heart. I was really sad for my oldest to move on from BSMA but glad my youngest is still there.
