    Wounds on back.

First let me start with the positives as I believe there are some at Joyous Montessori. Our child attended this facility for about 15 months or so. First in the infant care and then transitioned to the toddler classroom. She seemed to enjoy going to school for the most part until closer to the end of her time here. She was right at 2 years old when she left and I understand some of this is just how a child grows. She learned a LOT of stuff here. Colors, shapes, numbers, some letters, and her speech flourished. Definitely saw a positive change in her development. Now let's get to the bad stuff. There are several small gripes, but I won't include those as I think any place is going to be a little bit different here or there and you can't please everyone. What I will say is we always felt in the dark about what exactly what was going on at the facility. Just a general lack of communication. From what they were learning day to day to upcoming events and closures it was basically as little communication as necessary. The biggest issue I have is this place is unsafe for children. The facility itself seems fine, but the staff seems a little too distracted. I will be the first to admit that as with any environment with multiple children present there is the potential for things to happen. I think this is just part of life with kids. However, this place has several deficiencies. For instance on May 16, 2023 my wife gets a call in the middle of the day informing her that our child has hit her head at home and that it definitely didn't happen at school. Also implying that we need to be careful with her to avoid these types of things. This did NOT happen at our home as she was totally fine before leaving for school. Upon picking her up my wife found that she had a massive knot on her forehead. It ended up turning blue and she had a bump under the skin for nearly 2 months. It was a HARD impact. So in this case one of 2 scenarios happened. 1st: it happened at school. The staff knows, and they are trying to cover it up. Or 2nd: it happened at school. The staff genuinely doesn't know. Which means it happened, and she was able to cry it out all while there was no teacher present to witness. Not sure which is worse. Incompetence or dishonesty. But as any parent who wants to trust their child's care provider we chalked it up to just an accident and we gave them the benefit of the doubt. In hindsight that was not the way to go as we found out in July. Imagine the guilt felt by my wife and I after looking back after the next incident. How could we send her back here?! Ok so the second incident: July 6, 2023 my wife again gets a phone call from Joyous Montessori staff. This time near the end of the day, stating that she had a rash and we should take care of it. Wife picks up daughter at normal time and again we were told it was a rash. She was also visibly upset as it appeared she had been crying hard shortly before. Sniffling and the whole boohoo thing after a hard cry. Upon getting her home we find on her back what appeared to be somewhere between 6-10 bite marks. There were also scratch marks that broke the skin on the front of both elbows, one of her shoulders, and a mark that looked like she got hit on her nose and left ear. So at that point I called the director. Mrs. Vandana. Informed her about the situation and that we were going to have a meeting the next day. We brought pics of what happened and she admitted that it appeared she had been attacked. I was also shown a video of the incident that was played back on the computer but recorded on Vandanas phone. No audio and the video picked up when the teacher was holding Lily. So who knows even if this is when it happened. But since this video records over itself there was no way to review. Only showed teacher holding child. Nothing else. Here's the thing. A child with multiple bite marks is going to cry. They not only couldn't tell us what happened, they couldn't even tell us WHEN it happened. So again it looks like they were unattended. In both cases there was no report made as it was stated to be "a rash". Again 1 of 2 scenarios. 1st: Unattended children. 2nd: Lies. This is totally unacceptable and now that refund check for July has been deposited and cleared we will be reporting to the licensing board. If this only helps 1 other child it will be worth it. THIS FACILITY IS UNSAFE FOR YOUr LOVED ONES! Also, as I have seen on another review made for this facility, I would expect Vandana to respond to this review and try to attack the validity of my claims. For this reason, and to convey the severity of the situation I will include a pic of my daughters back. EDIT: I find it curious that a new review was posted 4 days after this one by a reviewer with no other reviews. Seems suspiciously dishonest. Especially since it specifically addresses all the issues I had and all the people involved. But hey, hopefully I'm wrong about this.

I would like to respond to Sue M's response to my review. I am not a "random or not so random"…read moreperson. My granddaughter attends this daycare and upon enrollment, we asked if management was able to hear the audio since we were made aware that we as parents could not. This is not "inside" info. Maybe that's a question you should think to ask your future daycare providers, as I'm certain there will be more than a couple. I am by no means invalidating your experience. I stand by my comment that you should be ashamed, not for posting the review, but for name dropping employees AND calling them racist. You do not know these people. It is one thing to leave a bad review since you obviously had a bad experience, but name dropping and calling people racist is a totally different scenario. Your review will follow these employees should they seek other opportunities. And for the record, my granddaughter is not 100% white and we have had zero problems. Just thought I'd throw that out there before you make assumptions as to the race of my granddaughter. I would like to address the previous review given by Sue M. Sue M's review infuriates me for several reasons. My granddaughter attends this daycare and we have had zero problems. It is diverse and the staff are amazing. If I were Emma or any one else you name dropped, I would personally file a law suit against you for defamation of character. Your child attended this facility for all of two months. You do not know them. At all. You should be ashamed. It is my understanding the management has access to the audio recordings for the classrooms. Have you asked them to review the footage? Have you even considered the possibility that your child is not being truthful? In this review you definitely sound like the "my child can do no wrong" parent. You should consider removing this review. Just my opinion. Hope you and your family can find a daycare to meet your standards. Good luck in the future.

So If they can not even find my child's records or application in the system, how can we rely on them to really care for our children for 8 hours a day?? I worked with Hannah about 2 months prior to starting my child at this daycare and provided her application form, payment details and my child's vaccination records, but she forgot to run the application as well as she forgot to put my child on waiting list. When I called a week prior before starting my child, Jennifer (the director) answered the call and she was not able to find my child's application. Since Hannah was not available, she had me waiting until Hannah comes in. Hannah returned my call and told me that she forgot to run the application and put my child on waiting list so now I have to wait for another two months before my child can start daycare there. With all of that she was not even apologetic and the director did not even have courtsey to call me back or apologize. I was so much relying on them and now I have to look for other daycares who can take my child in just one week. HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.

Then when I come to pick up I believe her name is Alyssa? She is always so happy and always has a smile on her face. Mrs. Cain- Preemptively enrolled my children in this daycare even though my ex and I share 50/50 custody and everything went down hill from there. ( They are only profit driven at least at this location) The kids continue to tell me that there is never any soap refilled in the dispensers and therefore my children were coming home sick every other week because basic safety features were not followed. Moving forward- The accounting department knew we were 50/50 custody and I asked a number of times to type up two different accounts so my ex (The FBI Special Agent) and I can keep our billing different. Things got progressively worse here and we came to a head when Mrs. Cain didn't know my children's whereabouts, even though they ride the CLA busses. How is this safe?? I own and operate a small business myself and I would never care for my patients the way CLA care for their children and respective families. I am a doctor and I am appalled that Mrs. Cain did not follow the divorce decree from day 1 and went by the verbal consent of my ex Mr. FBI Special Agent. I cannot speak any worse of this facility. My girls were called into the office and nothing was ever documented if it made the center look bad. Clearly, this business is profit driven and I will not cower to speak my mind just because my ex-husband Mr. FBI SPECIAL AGENT TRIED TO TRUMP ME and the school didn't follow our divorce decree. Ironically- Mrs. Jaimie Cain has stepped down and now they are under a different management. Only in Texas could this occur- when we all lived in DC things were much more professional and buttoned up. Sincerely, Sandhya Sharma LPC CACII EMDR

I switched my kids to this daycare because there seemed to be more structure in their schedules, and my son was especially unhappy about attending his old school every day. I was shocked when, on day 2 of attending Southlake Early Care, my son did not have a meltdown about being dropped off and just casually walked into his classroom, excited to see what everyone was up to. He didn't even turn around to say goodbye to me. He is just so happy to come here every day. At the old school, some days he would come home with the same diaper he had on when I dropped him off. They were under the impression that he was potty trained, when he was actually still working on it. But at Southlake Early Care, he was consistently reminded and helped in using the bathroom. He is now completely potty trained (for daytime) and doesn't wear pull ups during the day at all. As for my daughter, at her old school, she was getting one 20-minute nap for the whole day because they did not have a consistent nap schedule for all the babies. When we moved her to Southlake Early Care, I was a little wary about how they get all the babies in the room to nap at the same time. But they do. She now naps at least two hours every day, and she is so much more lively and happy in the evenings at home. One day, when I dropped her off after a long weekend, she ran straight to her teacher, who was sitting on the floor playing with the other babies. She jumped into her arms and gave her a big hug. It makes me so happy to see that my kids have a connection with the people I trust to take care of them all day. The staff are also very friendly and easy to talk to. They know my name, always ask how things are going, and they instantly know which kids are mine (unlike previous school). Oh and it is cheaper than most other daycares!!! Not only is it cheaper, but they also include supplies -- diapers, wipes, formula, all meals, etc. You can also tell that their teachers are happy to be there, which was not the same at the previous daycare. From what I can tell, Southlake Early Care treats their teachers well, and it makes the kids happier, too.

Teachers are well taken care of which means they'll take care of your children too. There were a couple of times that a teacher could be nominated to go on a cruise for their efforts. This place is very clean, cutely decorated, and well monitored for safety. The director and assistant directors are excellent. They are friendly, helpful, and very professional. They make a point to be sure to greet you when you come in and go out. It feels like a family here. My children have always felt loved by staff...literally knew that they were loved and important. They us Conscious Discipline and help children to recognize the importance of learning to manage emotions at an early age. They always have developmentally fun activities going on. They serve healthy meals and my children love to eat fresh fruit and veggies. In fact, I was about to serve a build your own taco and as I set out the ingredients, my daughter was asking for the ranch because we was excited and hoping for a salad at age 5. My first requirement in childcare was looking for a place that teaches the Bible and are unafraid to pray or talk about God. This place does incorporate some faith into their childcare curriculum. My children are school age now and they wanted to come back for their summer care program, which we love. They go on trips twice a week to places that we can't always make time to go to as a family so I enjoy hearing about their experiences. If you're on the fence, schedule a tour and get your application. It's beyond worth it!

I can walk into the director Heathers office at anytime either at drop off or pick up. No matter what chaos she may be dealing with, her demeanor is always the same: welcoming, cheerful, compassionate and an overwhelming sense of love for her job. Everyday at pickup, I watch every child say goodnight Ms Heather with either a wave or a smile. There was an incidence where my daughter was being bitten by another student. Ms Heather had called me and when I expressed my concerns, assured me that an action plan was set in place and resolution was on the rise. My daughter's teacher along with the other staff members helped me with potty training. I asked them what they were doing at school to obtain so much success and mirrored that same behavior at home. My daughter is fully potty trained now and has moved up to the next class. My daughter is definitely a picky eater. She's only ever eaten mac and cheese and chicken nuggets only because I called them Dino nuggets. When I asked her teacher how she was getting her to eat other foods, she told me that she encourages all the kids to at least take a bite and if they truly don't like it, they can discard the bite into a napkin. This is a technique that I have incorporated at home. There are a few staff members that my daughter is partial to. One being Mr Ian. All the kids are draw to him like a magnet. There are echos of look at me Mr Ian or Mr Ian can you come play with me?? Ms Hunter is fairly new to the staff. Probably within the last 2 months or so. She's the office manager and has a presence about her. When my daughter sees her, it's always a shriek of joy! She runs to Ms Hunter who always has open arms for a Huge hug. As a parent, you always want to make sure that your child enjoys who they spend time with the majority of the day. I absolutely would recommend that you bring your child here to be cared for by the TLE Staff.
