Frog Rock - Where the Yelp map initially took us on opposite side of the road :(

EDIT: the map took us to the wrong side of the road! It's across from the Ramblers Bar / Restaurant and a bit more south. You can see it from the road. Park on side of road and can walk over to it.

Mood- My Weird Travels…read more I knew it was a peculiar day. When the day goes in that direction it is time to do peculiar things or look for strange things to entice the mind. Thus this roadtrip. Frog Rock quickly got on the radar as I have heard about it, but wanted to see it for myself. We followed the directions and sure enough to the left of the highway there sat this enormous Frog looking as if wanting to leap and be free of that area. This rock was created by the legislators wife Sara Perkins in the 1920's and her 2 sons. They would climb up the hill and work to paint this rock until completion. In an attempt to garner attention to the family business her and husband owned at the time. There have been custodians over the years to do touch ups to the towns mascot even as recent as Mrs. Goodson who was 76 years old with a ladder and lots of paint. I hope she had help. This frog is painted on all sides. Would def recommend even if your into a slight climb. My pictures dont do Mr. Rocky the Frog justice as he is enormous. Weighing in at 60 tons at least and standing at 16feet tall. There is a barbed wire, but people over the years have gone on past that wire to take pictures. Wear solid shoes if your daring enough to climb to the top. Location is Highway 89 - Congress AZ - parking is on the shoulder of Highway.

Visited 12/26/2025…read more The Jail Tree in Wickenburg AZ. So Worth a visit. The Jail Tree https://share.google/Fz0n196FKvWbaQkQ5 Hi Guys just thought I'd share a short day trip yesterday to Wickenburg a little over an hour from Brenda Arizona. What a great little Historic Western Town. The jail tree was just one of the things to see in the Old Town part of Wickenburg. We were so impressed with the great old restaurants also. I'll post later where we had the Very Best Chicken Fried Steak Breakfast We both have ever had. For those that have never ventured up the 60 to Wickenburg you should treat yourself and enjoy a visit. Loretta and I are looking forward to our next visit.

There are murals and quite a few cafes & restaurants, shops, and museums to venture to. When I found this spot, there was a small parking lot right in front of the tree area. It is blocked off for traffic. It looks like a coffee vender has a food cart parked there. It was closed by the time we were there. There is parking close by. The tree looks like it's been there for a loooong time. It is interesting to see this man sitting on the ground, chained to the tree. There is a recording of the story and with a push of the button (it is working again) you can hear a tale. This stop has a Knotts Berry Farm feel to it. It's always fun to look for something new or unique. This stop is fun. It doesn't take long to check it out, & take a pic. When you take your next road trip and you find yourself in the area, Check it out!

The tour guide Joseph was so kind and full of energy. The video you watch when you get there is a very heart felt explanation of the passion to continue this community. They own 800 acres and the property is built on 20 acres, it was built between 1971-1975 for the main spaces that are shared. 45 people live there but could range to 80. They show how the products and structure are made. I had no clue about silk casts and loved the hands on understanding and history. They have concerts, events, gatherings. Etc at the amphitheater. Check out the website. The cafe is closed. You can stay as a hotel guest overnight. They offer apprenticeship also.

Clearly what the original architect had in mind many years ago never came to fruition as it really hasn't changed in years. Is appears to be a small artist community but we didn't see anything going on at the moment so couldn't tell if it id still active or they make everything south in Scottsdale at Cosanti. There is a gift shop where you can watch a brief video on the history and learn about their wind chime creations. Personally I've received many of the wind chimes over the last 20 years for housewarmings or Christmas gifts. Each is unique. The greeter in the gift shop was friendly and stated there is a tour available as well. We didn't have time for the tour but purchased a couple of small gifts. He suggested visiting the Scottsdale location as well which is called Cosanti. I had no idea it was located in Scott's well. Will check it out.

Upon arrival we had to wait a few minutes longer than start time, but it was because agent ensured we were able to tour without any other group issues! We had John T as our driver and this was one of the best tours we have had in a very long time! We laughed so hard, we literally cried. He was knowledgeable and funny and accommodating, and we would recommend this tour and John T to anyone even thinking about it. In terms of difficulty, there were moments that were a little harrowing, but we were definitely at ease with our driver. The views and experience more than make up for it though! Please do yourself a favor and utilize this company and ask for John T. Because we booked more than one tour with them, they even accommodated a deal for us on our next tour! Such a great time had by all!!
