Excellent service. Kind and attentive staff. The kitchen didn't seem to mind accommodating our dietary needs. Everything was delicious! It's a cozy, mom and pop sort of place that delivers on nice portions, good flavor, you leave feeling satisfied and full. Will come back again:)

The service here is slow, and not professional. Waitresses take forever to attend to you before your meal. Never refilled drinks, or chips and salsa. We ordered fajitas, and they were okay. I have better ones at home with better cuts of meat. We also got tostadas, those were fine. Our waitress was on her phone causing her to only bring us two small plates or one plate at a time to our table. Our food arrived without tortillas, and we waited about 1 minute before I started writing this review, and we still don't have them. It's been at least 5 minutes. I saw them sitting at the window, ended up just getting them myself. When ready to checkout they had to track her down again. Hopefully that gets resolved soon

    Chicken enchiladas at Jorge's Cafe

I did not spot too many options as I passed through Ruidoso Downs but I'm glad that Jorge's caught my eye. This place isn't fancy but it's delicious. I arrived during the super busy lunch rush but there was no wait right then. Five minutes later, the line is out the door. Oops. The lunch special was completely keto unfriendly. It beats up keto in the schoolyard and takes its lunch money. It was chips and salsa to start. Warm chips and a wet salsa that I somehow didn't wear. Main course took about five minutes - two enchiladas with rice and beans. I chose both green and red sauce and it was great. Stuffed with a spiced chicken and topped with cheese, all the carbs you need for an afternoon nap. Cheap as heck, too! [Review 17464 overall - 74 in New Mexico - 982 of 2022.]

We came back to visit family here in Ruidoso. So we enjoyed our last visit so much because the food was so good so we had to come back. Great service.

We ate at this gem twice while in Ruidoso. We have been all over Mexico eating different regional food and this is some of the best Mexican food I have ever had. The Green chile sauce is fantastic. On our last visit we had Chili Rellenos Burrito and suiza enchiladas. The caramel stuffed Churro is also off the charts. The service is excellent. The Margaritas are made with agave wine and are very unique. Go there and go again.

    A work in progress!

Loving the expansion to this gem in Ruidoso! More people will be able to experience their phenomenal food!!

Do they use tequila or REAL alcohol in margaritas. Just says agave based. That doesn't mean tequila?

Tequila is made from the Agave plant, and the drink is in the section of the menu that has other alcoholic drinks, so I think it's safe to assume it has alcohol. I've also seen other menus that referred to them as Agave Margaritas and they contained… Read more

The chicken fried steak was very good with white gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and a toasted biscuit. I always toast my biscuits at home, but this was the first time a restaurant toasted my biscuit and it was great. Service was prompt and coffee refills were provided when needed. I've decided this is my go-to restaurant for comfort food. Since my first visit to Rustic Cafe a month ago, I have eaten there three more times. I tried the hamburger steak with grilled onions and mushrooms on my second visit. It was very good too, but the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese sides were only Lukewarm. I guess I could have sent them back, but the steak and brown gravy was hot enough. The mac and cheese was nothing to get excited about. On my next visit I tried the BLT on Texas toast. It seemed a bit small for the $8.99 price and the mayo tasted a little weird to me (I only use Best Foods mayo at home.) It did include plenty of thin crisp bacon, but I had trouble biting through the tomato slices since my top and bottom front teeth don't quite touch. On my last visit, I had the Rustic Cheeseburger (medium) with onion rings as a side. The 1/3 lb. burger was very good, and I thought the quantity and quality of the onion rings was excellent. Only after I got home and looked at my receipt did I realize that I'd been charged a separate $1.49 for onion rings that were supposed to be included as side with the burger. I didn't really mind the extra charge since they had given me so many onion rings and they were the best I've eaten in many years. On one visit, the waitress gave me a 10% senior discount that I've not received on any other visit, so I don't know if this is a policy or just at the discretion of the wait staff. I know others have complained about slow service, but I'm retired and always bring my crossword puzzles with me to work on while I'm waiting, so I've not really noticed if the service is slow. Rustic Cafe is not advertised as a "fast food" joint, so I am happy with the speed of the service. My servers have always been pleasant and accommodating to any of my requests. Breakfast was always my favorite meal, and I'm pleased to find a place that offers breakfast all day. That'll have to be my next visit though.

I rode in half expectin' a little more alien flair maybe a green fella slingin' hash behind the counter but that ain't the hand they deal. What you do get is a clean joint, friendly service, and a plate that shows up honest and hot. That patty melt? Solid. Crispy, greasy in the right way, and worth the stop. Breakfast holds its own too eggs done right, no nonsense, just good fuel for the road. And for the record, the whole UFO business traces back to the Roswell Incident, which actually went down a ways outside of town but Roswell's been carryin' that legend ever since. End of the day, Cowboy Cafe ain't about gimmicks it's about doin' simple food right. Clean place, good service, strong local backing. Not quite outta this world... but a dependable stop all the same.

Ending 2025 on a positive note…read more If you are an uppity person, you will not enjoy Hop in Cafe in Roswell, NM, as yes - I will admit - it is in dire need of perhaps remodeling in the women's restroom but a deep cleaning all over the place as well. It's a reasonably sized patriotic diner on the side side of the alien-themed town. But the service on November 29, 2025, was wonderful. Very down-to-earth. I popped in to get a table for 5. I warned the first waitress I had that my company would be much later and I could wait elsewhere if necessary. She wouldn't have it. She asked what I was drinking and brought out an orange juice to me promptly. I had great conversation with her afterwards. Once my party finally arrived, my waitress's shift was over so we switched to a younger much less experienced girl, but she was still fine to me. My ex was less impressed and proceeded to speak negatively about the "people of Roswell," but I'll keep it positive... at least he paid for lunch. I covered the tip since I appreciated their welcoming, warm attitudes. All of our burgers were juicy - not overly greasy. The portions were huge. If you're law enforcement or military, you will be especially appreciated here - and thank you for your service. Ample parking out front.
