Joplin 44 is easily one of our favorite truck stops in the country. Plenty of truck parking (including reserve spots), a hotel on site, truck service, laundry, and some of the cleanest, most spacious showers we've found -- and we almost never have to wait. We love all the Route 66 throwbacks and really hope they never change the Route 66-themed bathrooms or move the Mother Road show semi out front. It gives the whole place such a fun, nostalgic vibe you don't find at most travel centers. There are tons of food choices, a truck wash/tub, and even a barber on site which is pretty rare these days. Everything is well kept and the staff is always friendly. Special thanks to Pat for the nice laugh this morning -- she sent us off smiling before we hit the road. This is a HUUGE travel stop--big enough to enclose a full size tractor trailer, tractor, and antique truck. The gift shop rivals stand alone stores and has a separate toy section. The convenience store is bigger than a 7-11. Buy a T-shirt or hat and have it embroidered or imprinted on-site. The pro trucker's shop has two full size semis--one with trailer. Multiple national fast food outlets plus a full service Iron Skillet provide dining options. Of course, gas and diesel fuel are available. Naturally, there's a laundry. Showers available. Restaurants are as clean as can be for a busy stop. read more

i bought a keychain knife two days ago from them, when I brought it to the cashier I asked what their return policy was and she told me I had ten days to return the keychain. I came in today and the manager said since it's technically a tool they can't return it and I told him if we're being technical the box says keychain not tool or even knife and that one of his employees told me i had ten days to return it regardless of how it was advertised weather it's technically a keychain or technically a knife. he told me he was done arguing about it and I am not petty enough to drive two hours back to talk to his manager in the morning so I wasted my $38 dollars And will not be back!!! read more

This truck clearly does not care about drivers, was woke up in middle of night. Legally parked in a parking spot mind you, so they could fit more show trucks in for a show that starts on Friday and it was Tuesday night. Absolutely horrible truck stop! read more

Kind of like a mini "Iowa-80" version truck stop. Employees were friendly and helpful. No wait for showers even though there were tons of truckers there. Prices, unfortunately are "truck stop high" and border on the ludicrous. Overall better than the average truck stop with LOTS more choices. read more

Good solid truck stop. Large with plenty of amenities such as a hotel if you don't want to snooze a few hours in your car or are a trucker tired of your rigs cramped quarters. Nice clean showers for fair price for those who indulge in the truck stop life and know their way around a good truck stop. They also have an Iron Skillet restaurant serves a decent breakfast, lunch and dinner. A large gift shop with coffee and other beverage or snack choices. A nice large parking lot to park and crash in. A cop parked in the lot probably sleeping off a shift so it's a bit late of added security for free. read more

The largest truck stop I've ever been in. Is it the largest? I'm sure someone knows. Let me know. The trucker's area is in the back part, but don't get it twisted, this isn't all about trucker supply. Yeah, they have customizable items as well as hard to find anywhere else floor mats and such, but there's also non truck related items to shop from. In the front, there is home decor. It's very strategically organized and displayed too. There is a section of country themed, another for nautical themed, you get the idea. There's something for everyone. The clothing was a bit too cowgirlish for my taste though. I'm not knocking the cowgirls though, I can rock my cowgirl boots too. I was there super early in the morning, and the most of the restaurants were closed so I can't comment on the restaurants, which includes: Iron Skillet, Caribou, Taco Bell & Pizza Hut, Blimpies, and Dairy Queen. My only complaint was the lack of grab and go food or drink options. They literally had less than any of the usual TAs or Pilot truck stops. I guess with the abundance of restaurants, they wouldn't sell the supplies like they need to? That's all that I can figure. read more

This place is enormous and has several selections for food. But not a Blimpie! We stopped there because the highway sign AND their outside sign said Blimpie. I really didn't want any of the fast food choices, so I wound up with a cup of broccoli cheese soup that had a thick skin on top like it'd been there all day. This has to be one, if not, the biggest Petro Truck Stop ever!! We were staying the night at the Sleep Inn next door and the key card gets you 20% off at the Iron Skillet here, so we had to walk over and oh my!! The Petro has everything a trucker could need, even to do shopping for birthdays or Christmas! We found purses, billfolds, watches, lots and lots of toys, signs, candles, snacks among all other great items. My son had to check out the truck seats and was in awe of the truck inside and there was an antique car that held biker things in the back. There was at least 2-3 fast food restaurants inside besides the Iron Skillet. I know we didn't see everything there, we would've been there over an hour or more. I'll have to let my hubby know of this place if he's ever truckin through Missouri again, if he doesn't already know..huge parking lot also!! read more

Wish I could leave a -5 I would!! terrible experience with Aaron,the Aaron the truck room manger, I ate dinner,it was fine,bought a New zippo plus fluid,in the convenience store lady was super nice, things went horrible in the truck show room, the management was,rude,I even asked him even if he got that how important customer service was, he was a young boy,and said no,it made me so upset I returned The Zippo collectors lighter,and wanted a full return. They've lost me as a regular customer for life, That's what's wrong with the young folks they think you owe them or there somehow that important that the little man Business isn't important enough to treat each customer as there number 1 Customer, In short I feel this place has grew too large, too have that great customer service,I'll simply order my stuff from another dealer. read more

Not many places open all night on the Interstate besides truck stops. We stopped at this one for some quick chow. I've eaten at quite a few truck stops in my day and I've seen better I guess. This Petro and the one in Walcott, Iowa are owned by the same people and they are both awesome! The show truck o the inside are very cool, they sell pretty neat blankets and stuff for your truck, and there are plenty of options to choose from for food. I dine at the Iron Skillet quite a bit and the food AND service is always up to par. If you want something a little lighter, there is a DQ, a Blimpie, and a Wendy's inside. This is one of those classic, iconic truck stops. This place offers it all to your casual traveller to road warriors and pro drivers. This facility is huge and had a full service restaurant as well as a Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Orange Julius/Dairy Queen plus a Caribou Coffee. There is a custom the shirt store, barber shop and other things to look at or get done while inside. Even if you're not a truck driver go to the back of the store and check out the I44 mural painted on the trailer that's inside. There are 2 semis parked inside to look at. There are clothes and toys and other collectibles inside to browse for and a decent selection of snacks and drinks to get. This is one of those places I look forward to stopping and just walking around on a long trip. read more

One of my all-time favorite places to stop. Owned by the same people who own Iowa 80, the World's Largest Truckstop, I am comfortable calling this the World's Second Largest Truckstop. They have a full-size tractor with a 53-foot trailer in the showroom! They also have another tractor down there and you can crawl up inside them and take cute pictures with your kids sitting in the drivers seat. (Or you, for that matter) All shopping aside, showers are clean (although cramped) and they have a huge bank of washers and dryers, a barber, and a printshop/custom embroidery place that can make bumper stickers and t-shirts read more

I stop here every time I travel I travel from AZ to WI. After coming off the turnpike I'm looking for gas and a restroom. this is one of the first once crossing the state line. The Joplin 44 is one of the nicest truck stops I have been to. They have anything you need for traveling. You can even get a GPS. The restrooms are clean and prices are reasonable. There is a restaurant there which always seems to be packed. This will continue to be a regular stopping place for me. read more

Tables not well kept. Crumbs in the seats. Buffet has few healthy choices. Mostly fried items, few vegetables. Salad bar had only iceberg lettuce. Entire buffet looked picked over, not recently refreshed. Meal okay, had Meatlovers' Omelet & Home Fries, Steer Burger & Eggs w/ Cottage Cheese. Had breakfast this morning, buffet looked better. This truck stop is located in Joplin, MO there is easy access on and off I-44. It is HUGE, well lit, and has a variety of fast food restaurants and a sit down diner. They have a large selection of gifts, souviners, clothes, drinks and snacks. There are areas for showers and the bathrooms are clean. There are plenty of gas pumps and parking. This truckstop is always a stop when we travel from AZ to WI and back again. read more

Easy to get to off the highway, and a traffic light to help get you back on quickly. Lots of room to walk around and things to see. You can tell it is a trucker Mecca. Several bathrooms and food options, shopping, laundromat, even a gym! They have big semis parked inside that my son really enjoyed. What the hell has happened to Iron Skillet lately? We used to stop at them all the time when we were on road trips. It was always hard to beat an Iron Skillet late at night on a long drive. This one was the worst of any across the country we have tried. I never get their buffet as it's mostly fried food that's been sitting there way too long and gravy that has hardened into concrete. But I have never had any issues with their basic regular menu items. Until here... How do you screw up oatmeal!? You make it goop and serve it with stale brown sugar. How do you screw up an open faced roast beef sandwich? Make the gravy gritty and tasteless and include some freezer burned beef chunks. How do you chase away some loyal road trip customers? Serve crappy food in a too run down for even a Quentin Tarantino movie atmosphere. Servers were nice and prompt. None of the above is really their fault. It gets two stars because the ham my godson got with his breakfast was really good. Actual ham...don't know how that got in their kitchen. Drive a bit up the road to Range Line and pull off there. There's a Waffle House. Eat there. read more

Showers are disgusting, Filthy and no bar soap given and liquid soap dispensers are not locked. Gross. Just gross. God knows what's in those dispensers. Thanks but HIV is not what I want from a shower. Restaurant food sucks, not at all in keeping with the Iowa 80 name. Store is nice, but chrome shop Mafia is across the street, so not worth going to Joplin 44. Fuel islands smell like urine. Not a pleasant place. read more

This was one of the stops on my trek to Nevada, MO for a little family vacation. A Denny's sort of feel or IHOP would explain this place, in my perspective. Never being to Joplin, I had the opportunity to see how the places were as good as people tell me they are. The restaurant is in the middle of a center with many restaurants and stores surrounding it. They let you seat yourself and there's plenty of seating. Anyway let's get to the food options. I ordered the ham breakfast with over medium eggs, hash browns, and toast. It wasn't your average ham. It was pretty big and tasty. I had no idea you could have one that big. The eggs were tasty, as well as the hash browns. It was a breakfast that I would say was slightly better than a Denny's restaurant would make. You pay up front when you are finished and then you could check out the other stores or restaurants located in this little center. It was a quick little pit stop for me, but I got to try some decent breakfast food at night. A really nice road stop place if you're into one. read more

The Joplin 44 is still on of the better truck stops on the road. It is part of the Iowa 80 family of trucks stops. They have about 450 parking spaces so, that's never really and issue. The full service shop is better than the average TA/Petro. They have the iron skillet for sit down meals. If you are in a hurry they have a Taco Bell and a Pizza Hut Express. The main truck stop has been newly remodeled and the fuel island has a blimpies. The iron skillet is a little better than your average petro being as it is part of the Iowa 80 family. Overall, if you are in Joplin, Mo for the night. This is the place you will want to stop. read more
