Master Lee's unprofessional behavior during the recent Black Belt testing was utterly unacceptable. During the event, he raised a contractual issue. After I explained that Master David had quoted me a different price, Master Lee immediately removed my child from the testing floor in front of other parents and children. This public action was inappropriate and humiliating. Such conduct violates the very principles he claims to uphold in Taekwondo training. Instead of addressing my concerns respectfully, he dismissed them outright and undermined my family by waving me off. This behavior will not be tolerated. Furthermore, his approach to business practices raises serious concerns. It appears that there is a pattern of dismissiveness toward African American families, which is deeply troubling. We are valued only when payments are made, yet when we question discrepancies, we are met with hostility and evasive tactics. I intend to escalate this matter to the appropriate officials within the Oak Lawn Village township. These shady contractual practices do not reflect support for the Oak Lawn community and must be addressed. read more

This is a great place to go if you're learning martial arts for the first time. Not only is it a good place to go for martial arts, it's also good for working out. Master Jared is as good as anyone can ask for! He's thoughtful towards his students and he understands them. He gives us time to improve and he also gives his students a chance. Master Jared takes care of his school too, I know I'm safe during the virus. He cleans the floor and bars after every class. He follows all of the rules while keeping it fun! I'm very thankful to have master Jared as my master. Erin is a great person to have behind the desk. Erin is helpful and I also appreciate her. If I'm being completely honest, this place has the best staff ever! I don't know any other place that can even compare to the staff. For example Dairy Queen, they have great food there but sometimes it's hard to understand what they're saying. I've bumped into Erin at a store before, she's still as nice as ever there! I can tell Erin is going to stay for awhile and I'm very happy for that. read more

Joon Lee's taekwondo school is the best martial arts program my husband and I found after trying several schools in the area. The program is well structured and the instructors do not only teach martial art technique but they heavily instill good moral and ethical behavior. Master Lee pays careful attention to the progress of each student and sets high expectations. Master Jared is an excellent instructor and also sets high standards through discipline. Our daughters' have never been given a free pass and have had to truly earn every belt level. They have consequently learned that hard work leads to achieving their goals and has also given them a sense of accomplishment. This program has definitely had a positive effect on their daily lives and has helped them to stay focused on their school studies. I highly recommend Joon Lee's school to any parent looking for a professionally managed program and one that makes it worth the investment. read more

Joon Lee's Taekwondo has been an incredible experience for our family. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this is more than just a martial arts school--it's a place where kids are truly supported and challenged to become their best selves. Master Jared is outstanding. He has a unique ability to connect with each child, pushing them to grow while making every class engaging and fun. His patience, discipline, and encouragement really stand out, and you can see how much he genuinely cares about each student's progress. What we appreciate most is how the program helps kids reach their full potential--not just physically, but mentally as well. The focus on confidence, respect, and perseverance has made a noticeable difference. If you're looking for a place that builds strong skills and even stronger character, Joon Lee's Taekwondo is the right choice. Highly recommend! read more

My boys started Tae Kwon Do with Grand Master Lee and Master Mike almost a year ago and they absolutely love it! They go almost every single day of the week and they have become stronger, focused and more respectful. The instructors are wonderful with all the children and are extremely patient. I would definitely recommend Joon Lee's Tae Kwon Do in Oak Lawn for everyone. From ages 4 to 64, this martial arts class is great to keep in shape, for self defense and for self discipline. The classroom is neat and clean, mirrors everywhere allow the students as well as the instructors to watch every move to ensure the moves are done properly. Everyone that works here is extremely nice too! They are respectful, kind and great with children. So much better than any other place I've been to! I would give Joon Lee's Tae Kwon Do +5 stars! We love this place! read more

My 10 year old granddaughter has been taking lessons from Joon Lee's since last July. She has progressed from a white belt to testing for her purple belt tonight. She is greatly motivated and loves going to class. I am very impressed with the instructors, especially Master Jarred. He demands respect in and out of class, and teaches his students with a very caring attitude. Both Master David and Grand Master Lee are also very involved in all levels of training. You need to be a very special teacher for the students to enjoy and keep returning and Master Jarred has this special quality. They are currently working extra hours with the students that are attending the Nationals in Orlando FL the end of May. I highly recommend this martial arts school for anyone interested in learning Tae Kwon Do. read more

Joon Lee's is a really great facility with really caring instructors that will make sure the kids are both learning and having fun. This place has developed a well run organization. I think they do an excellent job of teaching respect and good values to all students. It's really great to see all levels interact and help each other. Grand Master Lee never misses an opportunity to greet everyone that walks in, and it's not uncommon for him to be teaching any level. Masters Jared and David are exceptional instructors. They do an excellent job of teaching the skills along with core values. I highly recommend and have recommended Joon Lee's to anyone interested in Tae Kwon Do. While my experience is that if a parent, it is by no stretch just for kids. read more

This martial art's school is the best in the area. Before I decided where I would earn my black belt in Taekwondo, I looked at every school in the Orland area. I went to their free classes, I watched their class structure, and after a couple of months I decided Joon Lee's was by far the best one. The instructors, Masters, and Grand Master at this school are all very involved, passionate, and skilled in their art. Not only have they won many competitions and tournaments, they balance training with a positive self aware attitude. I not only wanted to learn how to be self disciplined and accomplished in the art of Taekwondo, but I also wanted to posses the mental aptitude of the art. I found this at Joon Lee's. I highly recommend this school. read more

I love Joon Lee's! My 6 year old daughter has been practicing tae kwon do here for the past 3 months and it's been truly incredible. Each and every person I've met here has been nothing but pleasant and helpful. My daughter has blossomed since her first class and is now almost a yellow belt. She looks forward to coming to class and has gained confidence, strength, and discipline since starting. I love how the components of tae kwon do are not only for during class, but are a whole lifestyle that carries over into home and school. All the instructors are amazing, especially Master Jared who is so great with the kids. He's always patient and calm and knows how to interact with each and every student. I'm so glad I found out about this place! read more

Discipline, leadership, friendship, are some of the values Joon Lee has brought to my and my families lives. A program paved in the roads of traditional Korean Tae Kwon Do, rounded out with boxing and Aikido. A nice curriculum of self defense for any age. The Grand Master Lee and his great instructors. Master David Lee, Jared, and Mike are fantastic with kids and adults of any age. And for the members convenience they have two locations, Oaklawn and Orland Park. Using traditional methods of training this is a great workout that keeps you on your toes. If your looking to go into Tae Kwon Do this is the place. read more

My husband signed up our son for classes here. I was hesitant at first just because I didn't know what to expect but my son has really been enjoying his experience there. I'm amazed at how well he follows along as he is only kinder age. He is so proud of himself when he gets stripes on his belt and he is working hard to move up to the next belt. Really good ratio between instructors and kids. Master Jared is great - he really keeps the kids engaged. My son practices his moves at home without any prompting from me and i think that is a direct result of his experience at Joon Lee's. read more

Joon Lee's has been a wonderful experience for our 7-year-old son. The school focuses on more than just physical technique; they instill core values like discipline, respect, and resilience. We are particularly grateful for Master Jared and Master Luke, whose dedication and professional guidance have helped our son grow immensely. He just earned 1st Place at a Midwest competition, and it was clear how much the confidence they've built in him contributed to his victory. If you're looking for a school that helps kids achieve their best both on and off the mat, this is it! read more

We can't say enough positive things about Join Lee's Tae Kwon Do! Our son has been going for a few months and he just loves it. Classes are offered almost everyday of the week so it makes it easy to find classes that fit our schedule. All of the classes have more than enough instructors to keep all of the little kids focused and all of the instructors are present on a daily basis. It gives classes a nice routine for the students. Everyone from the owner to the master instructors to the black belt instructors are amazing! So happy that we chose to enroll here :) read more

My 5 year old daughter has gone here since Feb. and she immediately loved it. Master Jared and the Grand master are very welcoming and make my child feel comfortable. Master Jared is also very patient with the children. Coming here has helped improve my daughters focus and confidence. There classes are very flexible and I like how we can come to as many classes as we would like to per week. So glad I found this school. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for an extra activity for your child or children. You will love it and so will they. read more

Our oldest son joined Joon Lee's last June and has loved every minute of it! Master Jared is one of the most patient people I have ever interacted with; he sticks to the values of Tae Kwon Do while still keeping a fun environment for the kids. Mrs. Erin at the front desk is beyond helpful with any question you have or anything you need. Outside of the staff; we can see a big change in our son! He has embodied all of the values that they have taught him and demonstrates those values at home, school and during class. Highly recommend Joon Lee's! read more

What's a great experience it has been! My son has been a student of Master Jared for about 10 weeks and he loves it! I had no idea that Tae Kwon Do would have such a great impact on my son's behavior, his self confidence, and his desire to set goals at the age of 5! The environment is supportive, and encouraging, but stern when necessary. He can go up to 6 days per week and always looks forward to it. It's great exercise and I really can't think of anything bad to say about the school or any part of our experience. Highly recommended! read more

Master Jared is the best teacher because in the beginning when I was only a white belt, my legs were so weak that they started to forget how to walk! But when Master Jared showed me how to do kicks and how to practice, that made me very flexible and stronger than before! Thank you Master Jared! And lets not forget Mrs. Erin, our staff! She is the best because for all students that want to sign up, she explains to them what will be happening politely. Her daughter, Lexi, is very good at making the students comfortable during class. read more

Our son 12yr. old Nolan has been attending Joon Lee's Orland Park location since last September. So thrilled that we got him into this as w/Covid none of the normal Park District sports have been operating. Nolan has learned from the Best in Master's Jared & David, and from Grand Master Joon Lee as well, and has risen to a purple belt already. Great people to learn from, Miss Erin has been a huge help to all of us! They're all very committed to the students and to the parents as well! Thanks for a great experience, Mike Walsh read more
