Our haunted tour was scheduled for January 6th 2024 at 7:15. Meeting place was 622 Pirates Alley. Six of us waited in the cold for 45 minutes. Emails and phone calls went unanswered by the host the rest of the evening. All 6 of us booked through Groupon so we will have to try to get refunds through them. Save yourself the aggravation and headache and find another tour than Jonathan Weiss. Sadly no ghosts just ghosted by the host. Edit to add: Groupon has issued me a full refund. The review still stands at one star. Communication is everything and disappointing 6 people who waited out in the cold for an hour is not a good business practice.

We booked two tours through Jonathan Weiss Tours during our week long stay in New Orleans. The first tour was their Cemetery #1 tour. I can't remember our tour guides name, but he was so much fun and was clearly very passionately about the history of New Orleans. We were able to visit 3 separate cemeteries and the Hurricane Katrina memorial. The other tour was the French Quarter Ghost Tour. Doug led this tour and was incredible. We were the only people on this tour so it felt like a private experience. We stopped by multiple bars so we could walk around with drinks while visiting some of the most haunted places around the French Quarter. These tours were well worth the money and I would love to try some of the other if we are ever in New Orleans again!

You MUST make a tour with Jonathan part of your New Orleans visit! Don't waste your time with the corporate tour companies. Jonathan is a real New Orleanian with a vast knowledge of the city's dark and colorful history. Whether you are looking for tales about vampires, ghosts, or pirates, Jonathan always delivers an entertaining and educational experience. I have gone back for three different tours with Jonathan, and each time I have walked away with a deeper appreciation of New Orlean's rich history. Just book a tour and thank me later!

My family and I went on the dark history tour. We all really enjoyed it. Jonathan was very informative and knew a lot about the history of the city. My youngest is 10 and it was appropriate and all the kids enjoyed it.

Text exchange of rudeness from this business The See? At the end of a professional service is definitely not what I am paying for.

I have emailed them with my groupon, then I called. No answer I left a voice mail and the rest happened by text. Very rude!

This was a really fun and informative tour! We really were engrossed with the stories told during the dark history tour and it was our favorite thing we did on our NOLA trip!

Jonathan Weiss is one of the most amazing tour guides that I have ever encountered. He is so engaging and so talented that by the end of the tour you will think he is some type of a immortal being who has actually lived the stories he is telling you. We booked our tour for October 14 and thought we were going to be disappointed when we learned. Jonathan was on vacation and would not be doing the tour. However Thomas the tour guide took us on our walking tour and he is talented funny and engaging and did an amazing job. I would definitely give the company, Jonathan and Thomas 05 star review.

Meeting spot. Great drinks! Champagne and Absinthe cocktail for 2!!!

Amazing! Wonderfully creepy and twisted with great information along the way. Handled Mardi Gras craziness with grace and felt like he was speaking directly to you the entire time, no matter the size of the group. Highly recommend!!!

She came across like an overly dramatic theater kid who couldn't dial it back. Her mannerisms and constant theatrics were cringey, and while maybe one or two stories had potential, the delivery completely ruined them. She would randomly go off on personal tangents (where she lives, her parents, and other irrelevant details) that had absolutely nothing to do with ghosts or vampires and added nothing to the experience. The worst part was her points system, where she'd give out points if people followed instructions or answered questions. For example, when we stayed on the sidewalk instead of walking in the street, she'd shout "10 points!" and point at each person while repeating it. It wasn't quirky or fun, it was just annoying. I wouldn't recommend this tour based on her alone. After our awful experience we tried another company called Nola Ghost Riders and I'd highly recommend them. They are located at the Voodoo Lounge off Decatur St, while French Quarter Phantoms is at Voodoo Lounge off Rampart St.

Date of tour: December 21, 2024…read more After a wonderful food tour in Prague last year, we wanted to replicate the magic stateside while visiting New Orleans, a city with a rich food history and scene. As requested, I will keep the individual location names secret as to not spoil your potential food tour but also because the stops can change and I don't want to have you disappointed if you don't get the same places on your tour. Ty was a great guide, providing us with local history and culture as we ate our way down Magazine Street. The only complaint I have is that they didn't really interact with us during the food portions, standing or sitting off to the side, or running to the next location to make sure we were all set. To me, the guide should be not only the bridge between the locations and food with us, but also a bridge between the different groups on the tour. Ty told us before the tour started that the other folks joining us were from Michigan, but we found out from them later that they were actually from New York. Had these connections been made earlier, it would have enhanced the tour. On to the food, wonderful that it all was! Please note that I may make some errors in the actual names of the food, while I took pictures, I did not write down the names and there wasn't a post-tour recap to assist me! Stop #1: A local sandwich and a seafood side. Both quite good, especially since I don't like olives! Stop #2: An unusual meat that was shockingly good! Stop #3: Seafood options. I've had a different version of one of these items in Asheville, NC. This wasn't quite as good but still tasty. Stop #4: Southern favorites that were so good! I didn't think I would like these but I did. Stop #5: A peppermint fudge cupcake. Sadly, the weakest stop on the tour. Other that tried the gelato came away disappointed and my cupcake was neither overly fudgey or pepperminty. It looked pretty, though!

This is a small group experience, which is why I wanted to do this one. We met at the Tableau Restaurant and were offered the choice of an aperol spritz or a French 75. We chose the spritz. We were told some history and ghost lore before going up to the wine room for some more stories. Very cool. They showed us video of a ghostly incident that had occurred there before. Next we walked down the street where we were told about the haunting at Muriel's Restaurant, where they also set a ghost table. Our last stop was at a psychic shop where we did a tarot card reading and we're given a Pan Am cocktail. I highly recommend this tour. It's unique and you get a little bit of all the good things you come to New Orleans for.

What is better than being in NOLA listening to haunted events while the sun was going down? Our tour guide was great. She was very detailed and very knowledgeable of everything that was discussed. The tour was about 1.5 hours long which was the perfect amount of time in my opinion. We went to numerous buildings that surrounded the French Quarter and Bourbon Street. My favorite spot was seeing the house in the Coven season of American Horror Story. I feel like your trip is not complete if you don't do one of these tours!

To say that the Storyville Museum achieved its goals and earned five stars would be an understatement; this may very well be the best museum I've visited in at least the past three years. The story of Storyville is complex, full of nuance, and with many unanswered questions. For me, one of the hallmarks of an excellent museum is that it lets these questions linger; the rough edges are not smoothed over, and visitors leave pondering big moral and ethical questions. That's exactly how I felt: the museum gave me a fantastic scaffolding of understand about Storyville, but it was also clear that its socioeconomics, its racial and gender dynamics, and its complex intersection with local, state and federal law are vast unplowed fields of potential for masters theses and PhD dissertations. For me, the intersection between prostitution and the political power structures were fascinating. Ton Anderson is a case study of contradictions, and one could spend a career trying to peel back the layers there. So too are the intersections with New Orleans's rich musical cultures and traditions. The stories of the madams themselves were equally captivating. Josie Arlington's and Kate Townsend's lives were riveting, but so too were the countless other women who didn't achieve their considerable wealth and power. The price of admission isn't cheap, but it's well worth the investment. Plan to spend at least two hours here, and learn about an important part of New Orleans's history that's well worth seeing.

The museum dives into the infamy Storyville crafted for itself, with newspapers condemning the women, yet some of these people who protested against the practice had took part in their services. My emotions traveled from being humored at this development, to fully facing the truth that this was not all for fun and humor--for many women of Storyville, this was the other way they could keep a roof over their head. The tour details tragic incidents like violent deaths and immoral acts that took place to bring in more visitors. It's an unsightly part of New Orleans' history, but this attraction presents such things with tact and well-thought out design. I was lucky enough to have the whole museum to myself and my partner, so we spent much time really absorbing this history and discussing the bleak and disturbed reality of what was promoted as a lively form of business. I recommend others to stop by this place; it is definitely not for children or those sensitive to sexual content, violence, or abuse. If your comfortable exploring those topics, then Storyville Museum is a great attraction to visit. It was one of the most beloved spots that I found during my vacation, and I'd be happy to go again!

He is a wise man who has lived through so much and he not only witnessed things but takes action to make right what is wrong. I was so impressed with his bravery and the many ways he initiated change for good. He defines terms for you (like how a Creole person is a child born of black and white parents). And like another Yelper mentioned, he provides a portfolio given to you that accentuates his tour and it's VERY well organized!! It is a very interactive tour and you get to hold very historical items. I won't say what they are so I don't ruin it, but those helped me learn a lot. It produced a strong emotion for me to experience something that was used for evil on precious children and adults. This tour really takes you deep into the mindset of things. Mr. Waters also teaches us about symbolism and how important it was in many aspects! It's about a 2 hour walking tour and I highly recommend bringing enough water (but there are no restroom breaks in between) and a hat.
