Dr. Chang is incredibly skilled and explains everything in a way that makes you feel confident and informed. His associate, Dr. Evan Chen, was also wonderful--patient, professional, and very supportive during my visits. The entire Stanford ophthalmology team was organized and efficient, and the surgery itself was smooth and comfortable. My vision is now crystal clear. Truly outstanding care from both doctors.

Stanford in general is just a money machine and cares nothing about the patients. In brief, here…read moreare the main problems: - Wait 3+ months to get an appointment - Cannot schedule with any doctor, has to be from the limited pool they give you - They double-dip in billing and charge (1) for the facilities and (2) for the service. So each bill is crazy high. Check your EOB from your insurance and Stanford billing details to see how many services and CBT codes are there - The fellows are nice, but the doctor will spend at best 8-10 mins with you - And when all is said and done, when you want to get a copy of your medical records after you're done with your appointments and paid your bills, they will just ignore you. You message them on MyHealth and call the office and will get no answer back. Impossible to get a hold of clinical team in any way. Btw, their Guest Services is completely useless and will just ghost you to add insult to the injury. So overall, unless you have a very specific reason to go to Byers Institute, I'd say just stay clear.

He determined I need cataract surgery (which he no longer does), and he has been with me every step of the way to make sure he approves of the surgeon. (The first one he recommended has a very full schedule) One warning: he doesn't accept insurance. I knew that when I made another appointment with him, but I was willing to pay more, knowing how great he is. I was actually surprised that I wasn't charged more, because he spent around 2 1/2 hours with me.

As the day went on, the pain got worse and worse till I was basically holding my eye shut and hiding from any bright lights. My boyfriend called Dr. Fishman and saw me that day. He found that I must have scratched my sclera (white part of my eye) while I was sleeping. He gave me a prescription to protect my eye from bacteria as it healed, wrapped my eye to protect it and reassured me that my eye was going to be ok. Dr. Fishman is very friendly, loves what he does, enjoys sharing his knowledge about eyes and takes time with his clients. I appreciate his professionalism and help.

Before I start on the review I want to give the reader a little bit of background on my eye…read moresituation as well as some general info. I am generally healthy, 50ish male, who developed diplopia with no underlying cause (this apparently happens in a small percentage of people). I struggled to find good care for 1.5 years trying to get the problem diagnosed and treated. Fortunately my wife learned of Dr. Nyong'o via a strabismus subreddit! My experience with Dr. Nyong'o and his team at Crescendo MD (Amanda and Sal) was excellent. Before seeing Dr. Nyong'o, I spent over a year and a half in vain seeing or trying to see specialists to get my diplopia corrected - I wish I had known about Dr. Nyong'o sooner. His team provided me with excellent care and were available to answer all my questions and concerns as they arose. They will happily spend the time needed with a patient so that the patient has all the information they want or need to make informed decisions. This allowed me to have 100% confidence in him and his team as we proceeded toward strabismus surgery. The timeline from the initial appointment to actually having strabismus surgery was quite expedient (about 5 weeks). The surgical facility they use was excellent and is close to his office. The anesthesiologist for the surgery followed the trend of excellence of Dr. Nyong'o and his team - knowledgeable, communicative, and empathetic. The whole team has excellent bedside manors and is clearly an empathetic group. Post surgery follow up was straight forward and scheduling was easy (very unusual for a doctors office these days). I feel as if I can't say enough good things about this experience. I am now about 6 months post surgery with zero diplopia and I am back to being a fully functional human again. I also want to point out how straight forward the pricing and billing was - there are no surprise bills or anything like that here. In general everything is spelled out to the patient in a multitude of understandable ways. Most importantly I can see like a normal human again. I cannot thank Dr. Nyong'o or his team enough.

My daughter looks forward to her visits with him and has built up trust with him. We were so happy to be able to stay under his care after he left PAMF. Dr Liu was the first on the list of recommended ophthalmologists, given to me by my optometrist. I also checked Yelp reviews and Dr Liu had very positive reviews. I felt lucky to get an appointment with Dr Liu, just a few days after calling his office - due to a cancellation, and was able to schedule my cataract surgery less than 4 weeks later. From the first time I met Dr Liu, I felt like he was a kind and caring doctor, who listened to me and answered all of my questions. I was also impressed by all the technicians there, and ease of scheduling all of my appointments in advance. Over the last 6-1/2 weeks, I had my LAL cataract surgery on both eyes, two adjustments in right eye and one adjustment in left eye, and did my second and final lock in two days ago. I am very happy with the outcome of my LAL cataract surgery and my vision at this time - I can see better than I have in years! Thank you Dr Liu!!

My mom has macular degeneration in both eyes, and her right eye is already blind because of the disease. Over the past year, the cataract in her left eye worsened significantly--she could no longer read newspapers or view images on her iPad, and she had to stop playing cards. Her macular specialist recommended cataract surgery; however, her regular eye doctor refused to perform it, believing she was too old and that the risks were too high. We were very discouraged and began seeking a second opinion. I found Dr. Liu on Yelp. After examining my mom's left eye, he was confident that he could perform the surgery safely. The surgery went very smoothly, and my mom didn't feel much pain or discomfort afterward. Dr. Liu even mentioned that my mom is not his oldest patient--he has successfully performed surgery on patients over 100 years old, which is truly amazing!
