Jonathan Braddick was our chosen architecht for our recent house extension and rennovation and we were thrilled with the results. He was lovely to work with and really knew his stuff both in terms of initial design ideas and later the complicated world of planning and contracts with the builder. He seems to have a good understanding of how much things cost and end values so, aswell as having great ideas, his suggestions were well thought through and he gave us a realistic idea of costs. I always felt that his advice was based on fact and therefore felt comfortable that ideas were achievable within our budget rather than just lots of wonderful artistic ideas but that would end up taking us over budget! He was very detailed and acurate in his plans which meant we got planning permission immediately without any conditions which was great! Having had such a good result with the planning, we also decided to use Jonathan as our contract administrator during our build and we are very pleased we did! Initially I had thought I would do this myself and was hesitant about spending the money on this part but, in hindsight, I am so pleased we opted to use Jonathan for this as his knowledge in setting up the spec and contract with the builder was invaluable most of the problems that cropped up, he had foreseen as these are apparently very common things accross most projects and so he had made sure they were all covered within our contract with the builder. This meant that despite trying constantly, there was no room for the builder to add in so called extras as they were all included in the fixed cost we had agreed with the builder upfrontThis saved us a lot of money by the end of the project!
