He fosters a very relaxed atmosphere in the shop with lively conversation, and even though there is often a wait involved, nobody seems to mind. When shops were closed with COVID, myself and others I knew opted to wait until he was open rather than shop around. When he was out with personal health issues, I was happy to keep visiting the shop to see Chuck (meet him on Fridays!) and happy to know the shop remained in business. The prices are very reasonable for the current market ($12 for a cut), and that includes a hot neck shave too. If you're coming here to be in and out in 20 minutes, this isn't your jam. But if you want a high quality cut, beard trim, neck shave, and all in the context of good old fashioned barber shop, this is the best joint in town.

Fortunately, John is located in High Point, which is a short trip for me. I found and booked John on Booksy and arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. Barber Edge is located in a house facing Green Street and has plenty of parking in the back. John is a great guy and I especially enjoyed the conversation. He is incredibly detail oriented and asked me questions about my hair style and skin care regimen that I quite honestly had never given much thought. On top of the great cut and shave, I learned a lot as John had some great advice and recommendations. Not in a salesy way, mind you, but in a way where you can tell that John genuinely cares about his clients. I left Barber Edge looking great and feeling much better than when I walked in.
