I was very disappointed with both our stay and, even more so, how management handled my concerns…read moreafterward. We stayed at the St. Mary / East Glacier KOA for two nights, July 17-19, 2026. I specifically chose this campground and paid a premium rate in large part because of the advertised pool, hot tub, and sauna. During our entire stay, the hot tub was out of order, the sauna was out of order, and the pool heater was not working, leaving the pool extremely cold at approximately 70°F. We reported the problems to the onsite office staff, and maintenance personnel checked the equipment and confirmed that repairs could not be completed immediately and would require outside service. I understand that equipment can fail unexpectedly. What I found unacceptable was the way management handled the matter afterward. I called the campground twice and was told messages would be left for the manager. I then sent multiple emails requesting a reasonable partial refund, not a full refund, because we did receive the campsite and hookups. Despite those efforts, management did not respond. Only after a few weeks passed and I contacted KOA corporate and KOA forwarded my complaint to the campground did management finally reply. They acknowledged that the hot tub, sauna, and pool heater were unavailable during our stay, but still denied any partial refund because the campsite and hookups were provided. That response misses the point. We paid a premium price for a campground offering amenities that were an important part of why we selected this location. Had we known those amenities would all be unavailable, we would have stayed at a considerably less expensive campground nearby. Mechanical problems happen. Good customer service is demonstrated by how a business responds when they do. In this case, I was especially disappointed that it took repeated phone calls, multiple emails, and ultimately intervention from KOA corporate just to receive a response from campground management. Based on our experience with the unavailable amenities and the way management handled a reasonable customer concern, I would have difficulty recommending this campground at its premium pricing.

We heard every conversation in the rooms around us- I mean we could hear EVERY WORD said in the room next door and they could hear us too! Every bump and noise from above. Absolutely horrible. Wifi was spotty and intermittent. Extremely overpriced! Only booked here because we couldn't find anything else available in St Mary. Now I know to just stay somewhere else- anywhere else. Drive an hour just to avoid the Red Eagle Motel. We were in Room #6. Would never ever come here again and wanted to warn others! Only nice thing was the location and the view.

Wi-fi that does not work in the rooms; it only works if you are directly in front of the office. No hair dryer provided. No bureau or other horizontal surface in the room to place anything. Low shower water pressure so you feel like you are being misted rather than showered with a temperature that only scores tolerable, certainly not warm. No ice available on site. No phones in the room. No air conditioning, only a rather loud fan that does little to cool the room. Surly front desk attendant who didn't bother to provide any information about the lack of housekeeping or the crappy wi-fi password upon check-in. One star for not having bed bugs, or at least none that were evident. Perhaps they should rename this establishment the "Dead Eagle Motel."

The older one was average is condition, the main downside is that the water for a shower is not a temp control handle but one of the push button, no temp control. The temp turned out to ok but the problem was the water only stays on for 4 seconds. I had to lean on the button non-stop to keep water going so that leaves you only one hand to shampoo, wash, etc. I checked out the new shower house which had I believe only one shower. When I tried the push button to see if it stayed on longer than the older shower house the ENTIRE bathroom flooded. Poor slope planning for good drainage when the floor was poured.

It was nice to walk around the property and walk up to the pond. The people who run the place were great! We even had our fridge go out on us and they had an RV repair guy to call. They were very helpful! The location is great! I highly recommended bringing your own food and grilling out since most of the restaurants and bars around are not the best. The campfire meals is such a great experience at this place too. Plan ahead for your trip into Glacier National Park and make sure you have all your driving passes and day passes to where ever your going. Or make plans to go into the park after 3pm when it doesn't require passes. There is so much to do in Glacier that this is a great place to stay for exploring the West Side! We had asked to drop our trailer to park while we went to explore the area and as well if there was any possibility of an early check in, which in our case the previous guest had left and cleaning was being done a little earlier than our time which isn't always the case so that was awesome!! Rooms were very clean, comfy, and well kept. Don't let the word motel deter you by any means! This is way nicer than most hotels. Smaller space as we had the 2 queen room but very functional for the one night we needed. Guests had access to the pool and a grill area which was great. There was no breakfast but they did offer coffee/tea. Very close to the West Glacier entrance and close to Whitefish and Flathead lake area as well. Would stay here again!

We picked 2 sites that were next to each other, were big enough for our 35 foot rigs, and had room to sit outside and enjoy each other's company. When we arrived, they had moved us to different sites that were far apart from each other and had hardly enough space for our rigs, and absolutely no space to gather outside. My husband and I had to park our truck 3 ft in front of our door where we would typically sit outside and our friends were smack up against the back of a cabin, so no place to hang out there. We were first told they moved us because someone else couldn't fit into the site they picked. Once we discovered where we were placed and that we hardly fit, we complained and were told that it was the website that "optimized" the grid. Since there were other people in the sites we had originally selected, we asked for a discount as we didn't get what we paid for. The staff person said he would call and talk to the manager. Soon, he relayed the message that it was all our fault because there was a box we were supposed to check if we wanted to guarantee our selected site. We went back to the website and did a whole walkthrough of the booking process until just before you actually click to submit the payment. No check box. So they lied again!
