DO NOT USE THIS GUY!!!…read more First off, Zack Long (the owner and I believe sole employee of the company) just moved here from Colorado, and told me more than once that he didn't know what the codes were here (of course, he didn't bother telling me that before installing my water heater). When he installed my new water heater in February (at a premium price), he apparently did it against code. The new water heater kept failing (I mean, no hot water - It wouldn't stay lit long enough to even get it hot), he tried a couple things, such as punching a hole in my wall (which was still against code) and replacing some parts. But instead of standing behind his product and work, he blew me off and blocked me when I inquired again. As this was for an Airbnb, I haven't been able to rent it, and it has cost me at least $25k in income. I am actually having to speak to my lawyer on Friday to file a lawsuit against him since he is refusing to stand behind his work. Also, side note - he also installed an outdoor water, spigot, which broke the third time I used it, either from janky parts or faulty installation, I'm not sure which. I also just noticed that he is now moving his business to Southern Missouri, after having just moved it to Northwest Arkansas from Colorado. It not only raises a red flag when a business has to keep relocating in such a short amount of time, but it also makes it impossible for him to keep up and be knowledgeable on the codes he is supposed to follow, etc., which was made very apparent during his work with me. Moral of the story- DO NOT USE ZACK LONG OR HIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO HAVE TO GO TO COURT!!!

Cannot recommend Zach highly enough. Speedy, knowledgeable, super nice and friendly. He's the only…read moreplumber I'll call from now on.

(I have owned many homes at the same time here for years) What really burned me was the last bill I got from them. They charged me over $450 for a small (less than an hour) job they did for me. How did they get the bill that high you may ask? They itemized every thing in lieu of their hourly rate. Mind you that I had everything they needed to complete the work on site. I have had numerous rental homes in the Joplin area for over 10 years, so I am not exactly a novice. I had never had them bill me in this fashion before. My husband and I were obviously not happy. My husband tried to call Gary to no avail. I agree with AJ that Gary avoids discussions about his billing practices. I paid the bill on the same day the work was done, as I always do. That was the last job they will ever do for me. They lost our business because of GARY MCKINNEY'S unwillingness to have a conversation about his apparently new billing practice. Had I known that he was going to Itemize everything on that visit there were several things (nearly all) I would have done myself. HOMEOWNER BEWARE if you choose to use their services you may encounter the following: Repeated calls to fix the same issue that they just fixed. Billing practices that are inconsistent. They may bill you one way one time and then a totally different way another time. Stonewalling when you have a problem that you would like addressed. Gary will not talk to you if you have a problem. Now, obviously my experiences with them have not been all negative. I'm just saying beware. Good Luck!

What started as a 5-star experience has sadly become a 1-star (zero star?) experience and a…read morerecommendation to not do business with this company. It has to do with communication and honesty and follow-up. We had a great experience with Gary's crew when fixing some plumbing issues at a rental property we invested in about a year and 1/2 ago. They were timely, they did solid work, the price was reasonable, and the quote, invoicing and payment process was easy. Cut to 3 months later and we had gone out of town for work for 5 months. Our adult daughter was house sitting. The temperature dial on our shower broke and we told her to call Gary. He sent someone out who wanted to take the part away to do some research, but we had already done the research and knew that the thermostat needed to be replaced. It would've been (was, ultimately by another plumber) about a 1-hour job. Even though our daughter asked the plumber on-site to not go do any research, he took off and started making calls and visits to figure out how to do what we'd already said needed to be done. We never heard back, so we had another plumber come and do the job... that was until we received a bill for $170 for the plumber's time to do research we didn't need performed. Originally the bill was coming to our daughter's boyfriend (who signed for the quote visit), and when the first one arrived, I called long-distance to talk to them to explain the bill amount was bogus and we'd pay for the house-call. I left 2 messages and never got a reply. When we got back, I got another bill, finally in my name, and called them twice before speaking to a gal in their office and re-explained what had happened. She said she would have Gary call me back to discuss and we left it at that. He never called back... I don't know why, I was nothing but courteous and professional, and felt it was totally fair to pay for the house-call. We planned on doing years of business with this man and his company. Now it's months later and I've had to leave town again to care for an elderly family member out of state, and now my daughter sends me a picture of a bill... the bill that I never got the call back on has been turned over to a collection agency. Unbelievable! No calls back and instead of facing me and discussing what happened, he just writes off our family and our business and sends the bill to collections. I run my own small business, and I would never do this to a customer, so I'm sad to be writing this review. This guy is willing to lose lifetime customers - not only me, but my family and friends born, raised and still living in Joplin over what amounts to $110. It's petty, incredibly rude, and bad business. I don't recommend hiring Gary McKinney plumbing even though their work is solid, because their backbone is not.

I had them come out to look at a leak in my laundry room.Turned out to be my new washing machine…read morewas leaking .They cut a hole in the drywall- behind the washing machine and also behind my water heater in my garage. So now I have to pay somebody to get that drywall replaced/repaired. I thought they were a great company that day becausethey spent 2 hours looking for the leak. So I went on there, monthly service contract for $34.99 a month. First guy came out to look at my hvac system. He said, I needed a new Hvac system within the first 30 seconds that he was here. I said really? Why is that? He said it's old. I said "I just had that whole thing redone/ upgraded last year, when I bought a new air conditioning unit, there's nothing wrong with my hvac system at all. It works beautifully, but he was adamant that the whole thing needed to be replaced. So that raised an eyebrow. ( btw you have to purchase your own filters that they replace) My last co replaced/ provided the filters free with the service contract. So then I had the plumber come out on a different day to look at my water heater. Same guy that cut the holes in my drywall. He said he could not drain it, he could not service it. He could not do anything. It just needed to be replaced right away before it "blows up". He said, I only had about a foot of water in there. And the rest was calcium deposit and lime scale . So he put a lot of fear in me. I said, okay, let's replace it. They put me on the books. They gave me a price. The price was gonna be $2180 for it to be replaced. I said, okay, let's do it. They put it on the books for next month. Later that day, I got a text saying, hey, if you get it done this week. We'll take $600 off. I didn't have the money until next month. Why would they send me a text saying? They'll take $600 off after I've already made the appointment and agreed to the price. That really bothered me!!! Also, they could not tell me anything about the NEW water heater. They could not tell me what type it was, hew it would energy efficient, how it was a good value? They knew nothing about this NEW water heater that they were going to put in. They never called me back about the water heater or answered any questions at all. The gal said "I will call you back in 1/2 hour to go over it with you ok"? All they did was send me a text saying, they would take $600 off. If I replaced THIS week, I canceled right away. I also canceled my monthly $34.99 with them. The gal said "ok your removed, you won't get billed for the monthly service fee anymore. I'm still getting billed!!!!! They billed me last month, November 20th, and this month, December 20th, and Ive called them twice now, and a follow-up text.To get that service ended. When I texted them and said, "hey, stop charging me $34.99. I didn't use you.I used another company who did an outstanding job!" ( WHITE PLUMBING is amazing btw) they said, well, you have to talk to somebody to get it canceled.I said," I have twice"!! I'm going to go to the better business bureau.I'm going to go to my bank and get this monthly thing disputed. Paschal is very pushy. They don't know what they're doing. Theres too many people NOT doing there job. I don't appreciate somebody putting the fear in me that my water heater is gonna blow up if I don't get it replaced right away!! The gal in the office LIED saying I was not on the mo. service contract anymore. But there still charging me!!!!Watch out for these guys. They're sneaky and pushy. They DONT KNOW WHAT THERE DOING!!!

The tech led me to believe the part's cost was that much before the work was done, while his boss told me that I signed an agreement ahead of repair (which I didnt) and that cost was for the tech's troubleshooting and part. I initially called (Dec 12) because I could tell there was a leak somewhere (damaged floors) and assumed it was my hot water heater. I just bought this home a few months ago, so still learning its quirks. He was able to come out the following day (thank goodness.) The guy said the element and thermometer were bad but couldn't find a leak. I suggested maybe it was a pipe under the house so he went under to check...and it was. So he fixed that and said he would be back on Monday (this was Saturday) to fix the water heater. He changed the time Monday (Dec 14) twice and then just didn't show. I received a text at 8:26pm saying he would be there the following morning. I acknowledged that was fine at 9:06pm. The next morning I received a text that he didn't see my response so it would be afternoon, by 1pm. I was already off of work for this so I continued to be patient and said that was fine. He came at some point that afternoon, changed the element and thermometer and flushed the heater. I took a shower that evening (Dec 17) and it was hot. The next morning it was cold. I called him Dec 18th at 11am to discuss. He said he would call me back, I waited patiently and received no call back. Friday, I'm working, comes and goes with no call. Google helped me find and hit the reset button which allowed me a hot shower. Saturday (Dec 20) it's cold again. I went to work, and called him AGAIN at 11:28am. He said they'd be there Monday to replace the other element. I informed him that also the valve where it was flushed is now steady leaking. He sent me a text to confim he would be there Monday between 1 and 3 so again, i take off work Dec 22 so i can be home for this. Guess who doesn't show at 3! So I sent THE most polite but firm text I can muster without losing my absolute mind. Response is that someone else was supposed to tell me it wouldn't be Monday. No new time. Just blame shift for MORE bad communication. Tuesday, I take off work again, and get a text at 9:11am "Are you free now." So he comes and goes. The next morning, no fcking hot water AND its still steady leaking so my floor is now fcked in that room too! I sent him a text yesterday, I've had family in the last two days, i told him i realize it's Christmas and it can wait until after. Here I am 10:30am on Dec 26th he has read my text and not responded. I started with a floor that was showing issues, a water heater that worked mostly OK was WAS NOT LEAKING and now have messed up floors in two rooms, no hot water for two weeks and a leaking water heater. The communication is horrible. The knowledge is clearly not there, the ownership of problems caused is lacking. This is really poor business behavior all around and I do not recommend. I paid this guy nearly $1k to mess up my water heater and my floors and then skirt responsility. Merry Christmas.
