We're grateful to have our deck protected and looking new again. I must confess that I'm picky. I've done a fair amount of painting over the years and probably have a higher standard than most. The two men went above and beyond what I expected and were meticulous in every step of the process. Our deck is 10' x 32' which includes a step-up platform that leads to a door. The platform has a built-in brick planter that has to be accommodated when refurbishing. The cedar boards are constructed diagonally and a couple of the long ones (over 13') were damaged as well as two shorter ones on the platform. We did not know of the damage until we were clearing off some large planters to get ready for them to start the project. I was surprised when Andrew said they could replace those boards for us. That was an extra skillset I did not know they offered. He adjusted the quote and put in the extra effort to locate and pick up the boards, miter the edges, and replace the existing deteriorating ones. After securing them to the deck, they also sanded them as needed to make sure the stain would bond well. They did a great job cleaning and preparing the deck and taped on large pieces of paper to protect our steel siding during the project. They rolled on a first coat of stain and then sprayed a second one. We had previously used Sherwin Williams SuperDeck solid Taupe Gray stain but I wanted to change it to a warmer color that would go better with the wicker-colored siding on our house. They recommended using one of the Sherwin Williams IR stains in that SuperDeck category, as they can withstand the summer heat better. We settled on the Lodge Brown which ended up to be perfect and also went well with the stone steps leading up to the front of the deck. These two know well what they're doing and are committed to providing a great service at a reasonable price. Don't think twice if you're looking at Two Men and a Brush. He said "not a drop of paint will be on the wood." He was right. His precision was what we needed. His quote included the paint. It was quality paint and the right colors. Beyond that the experience was not a good one. Ernesto said that they would get me an estimate either that night or the next day. He did not. After the holiday weekend I spoke with Ernesto on the phone regarding the missing estimate. He assured me again that it would be sent that night. I contacted him the next day via email again inquiring about the missing estimate. No reply. Since then he has not taken or returned my calls. If he didn't want to do the job I'd very much appreciate if he would have just said so instead of wasting a week of my time in trying to follow up on an estimate that clearly will not be delivered.
