    Reaves Law Firm

Title Poor Communication, Lack of Diligence, and Unfulfilled Promises in Personal Injury Case…read more I hired Henry E. Reaves III and Reaves Law Firm, PLLC in late July 2025 to handle my personal injury claim after a car accident in Shelby County, TN (caused by another driver). I signed a retainer around July 29, 2025, expecting competent, diligent representation, regular updates, and proper handling of medical treatment and settlement efforts. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing and fell far short of professional standards: * Poor or nonexistent communication -- Despite multiple calls (at least 15 attempts, some documented) and certified letters, I was repeatedly ignored. I was left uninformed about case progress, deadlines, and options for medical care to address my ongoing pain and injuries. This violated basic expectations of client updates. * Lack of diligence and competent handling -- The firm failed to properly investigate the accident, preserve evidence promptly, or secure medical records before any demand. They pushed an aggressive "no negotiation" strategy (time-limited demand then immediate lawsuit) without clearly explaining or getting my informed consent in writing. The complaint wasn't filed until September 2025, and no doctor visits or prescriptions were arranged or encouraged, potentially harming my recovery and claim value (medical bills already over $25,000, total damages estimated $35,000+). * Misleading promises -- I was assured of a "quick settlement" during initial talks, but no thorough evaluation occurred. Post-retention, there were unfulfilled promises of communication and progress. When I raised concerns about back pain and lack of medical attention in September 2025, I terminated services on September 3 (or 9 per their records), but received no proper disengagement letter or full file transfer. * Other issues -- The firm claimed I refused medical treatment (via a call to my sister's phone after I lost mine), but I have no record of advice to seek care if needed, and no authorization for third-party contact. Litigation was advanced aggressively without my full understanding or agreement. I filed a formal ethics complaint with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility (TBPR Docket No. 101639-2025-9-TT-INV), citing violations of rules on competence (RPC 1.1), diligence (1.3), communication (1.4), and honesty (8.4(c)). I later submitted a follow-up letter requesting evidence (signed PSA details, call logs, demand package, disengagement letter, etc.) because the firm's response to TBPR appeared inaccurate based on my records. This representation caused unnecessary stress, prolonged pain, unpaid medical bills, and weakened my legal position. I do not recommend Reaves Law Firm or Henry E. Reaves III for personal injury cases. Potential clients should be cautious about communication, transparency, and actual case handling. If you're considering this firm, ask detailed questions upfront and get everything in writing. Sincerely, George B. Cooper

Terrible customer service. All the attorneys quit because of the dictatorship there. HR is a joke…read more Cases go unfixed for years.
