Thinking it was a transmission problem and fearing a new transmission cost, I took it a nationally advertised transmission company. It was 4:30 on a Friday afternoon, the ad stated open till 5:30pm. When I arrived, it was closed tighter than a drum. Another car service center in that same shopping center was kind enough to take a look at it, even though it was closing time. They diagnosed the problem, but were not open on the weekend and recommended Tom Joyce Auto Repair Shop, said that shop was open on Saturday even called and left msg on answering machine. I took the car at 0745 for the opening time of 0800. The one and only mechanic said he had lots of work already scheduled and closed at 1230 on Saturday, but he would try to take a look. I told him my situation, and that I needed to be back to work on Monday, he said he do what he could, I left the car. I feared the worst! He called me back at almost five o clock, told me that it was just a universal joint, which he replaced for what I considered a very reasonable price. I'm sorry I don't remember his name, but this man went well above and beyond his duty to service me and well past closing time, and I would recommend this repair shop to anyone! I took my car over to Anthony's because there was an insurance claim inspector there. He recommended that I could actually have my car serviced right there, so I decided on the shop. The fellows at the front desk were informative and extremely accommodating. They even offered to give me a ride to the rental car agency if Enterprise didn't send a car over for me. After about a week and half of work (and dealing with a crappy rental), I got a call that my car was finished. I was amazed that they'd got it in and done so quickly! Upon arriving to pick up my vehicle they were quick to sign off on everything and leave the rest to the insurance company to handle. I got a look at my car and I was ABSOLUTELY AMAZED at how good it looked. You couldn't see one dent, scratch, or abrasion from the hail. They did exceptional work to make it look brand new again. On top of that, they washed and vacuumed my car too! I am very very happy with the work and if I ever have to have bodywork done again I'll be happy to drive over to Anthony's!

The final bill was tallied: $104, which I thought was a lot, but I assumed it was the 3.5% up-charge for paying be credit card (which I did know about, but forgot to bring cash). I said something about the cost and that's when I was told the license plate bulb had burned out and had been replaced. No one said anything before changing it, no one asked me if I wanted it changed, and frankly I didn't. When I responded exactly that (you didn't tell or ask me) the reply was: "But you'll get pulled over for that." Bullshit, I say. Truth is I was told that light was out the last time I had the oil changed, and I declined replacing it then. That was 4 months ago, one major drive trip to FL's east coast and back, and not a single siren in my rearview. What's really bothering me is that I finally looked at the itemized bill when I got home: $14.99 for a flippin' light bulb. (Which, I don't doubt, I could get for half, or maybe 3/4s, of that at an auto parts store.) Maybe it's a good thing they changed it b/c I forgot to do it when I was first told it was out last oil change. But that's not the point. I searched for the short but could not find it. I took my RV to Mr. Front End and they found a back feed from the head lights that was blowing the fuse.
