I called and arranged with Jimmy to bring my boat in to be winterized. The morning that I was going to take it in, the wife and I were going to run it up and down the lake to run the gas out. The battery died while trying to crank it, WITH THE FOOT DOWN! We were stuck in the worst way. I called Jimmy and he came with a jump pack to give me enough juice to get the foot back up. When he hooked up the jump pack he discovered that "someone" had put on a starter wire that was WAAAY too small for the starter. This tiny wire broke down causing my issue and could have easily been a fire hazard. Not only did Jimmy rescue my boat from the ramp, he saved it from burning up sometime in the future. 100% satisfied Customer! Called on a mid-March morning needing a full engine servicing on our 2015 Yamaha 115 hp and Jimmy answered half way through the second ring. Said they can work me on same day. Dropped off the same day at 1000...Jimmy met me dockside to go over my needs. He called me at 1400 said the main servicing was done and offered solutions for broken horn and fuel gauge. He had the parts and fixed those too. The only place that I'll take my boats. John's marine has been servicing and repairing all my boats for the last 30+ years and they always do me right. John has been gone for some years, but his son, Jimmy has taken over the business... he's modernized, has the latest diagnostic equipment for today's computer-controlled engines, has a huge parts inventory and an even larger knowledge of everything pleasure-boat related. He can even store your boat and/or trailer. When Jimmy repairs your boat, he water tests every one... that way you both know that the job has fixed the problem and has been done right. No short-cuts or shade-tree mechanic here. He does get backed up in the busy season, but he always seems to squeeze in some emergency jobs. He is even the guy to go to if your boat sinks... he'll float it, tow it to shore, dry it out, give you an insurance estimate and repair it... good as new. He has trailers for almost any boat. Best mechanic in Lake Keowee, thorough and meticulous! Hard to find an excellent mechanic who is honest!

I talked to Jim in the fall but I have in my boot service. He said come back in the spring. I did call back and he told me to call the day I was bringing the boat in. I called Monday and he answered but was helping a frien and could not talk. I called on Tuesday and left messages with no response. I called and left messages on Wednesday with no response. I had heard great things about John's marine, but didn't get a chance experience him. Well he did finally call me Wednesday afternoon after I had taken two days off from work, his only response was " well I get busy and do about 8 boats a day" And, instead of apologizing like a responsible business, he told me " maybe you should find some one else to work on your boat." And some friendly advice: never start a call with someone who is going to pay you for your work, "have I talked to you today." And John's marine maybe able to service 8 boats a day, but if they cannot keep track of the work and folks slipping through, what else might be slipping through. I don't leave this feed back to be harsh, but in hopes that Jimmy and company get better. We need good business folks on Lake Keowee. read more

Recently took my Chaparral that was overheating to Jimmy and quickly believed that he was extremely knowledgeable and a strait up honest guy. Boat was repaired in short order and the final cost was LESS than his original estimate. Jimmy suggested other items that I should consider on my recently purchased 2002 boat, but not in a pushy way at all. I now know where I will have my boat serviced from now on, which is very convenient since his shop is about a mile from my home! read more
