My fiancé' and I have been driving cross country from Massachusetts to California and have been having difficulty with the Jeep Cherokee that we had recently purchased. Our last mechanic in Massachusetts had the car in, not once....but twice for a cylinder misfire. And failed to replace it despite having the car in his possession for days at a time. When the car started having difficulty by the time we reached Rolla, we were at our wits end. Luckily the person we were staying with recommended John's Firestone. I was on a road trip and had tire problems. This place popped up as closest place. Very polite staff advised me they didn't have a tire in the size i needed and called a different tire shop in town to ask if they had it. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews but I have never had a bad experience with firestone. They are reliable and knowledgeable. We've taken our Subaru and Volvo here for oil changes, tires, AC issues, etc. Service is friendly and prices are reasonable. Plus it's super convenient if you work in town. We don't go anywhere else in Rolla to have our car serviced. Love these guys! read more

Deserves a zero. Not only will the incompetent staff there lie to your face about basic work that was never done, but they'll charge you for it. Typical good old boys. Oh, and I hope you aren't attached to whatever you left in the car, because it won't be there when you pick it up. read more

Super helpful. On drive from southern MO to Chicago when a/c died in car. In August! Called late on Friday and they told us to come in and would try to help. Super helpful - tech looked at our car despite Friday near closing time and was also working on another job. Ran a quick diagnostic test, identified the problem, and got air working. Took the car in for inspection. They didn't honor my appointment time (not a big deal, I understand), and then THEY REPLACED PARTS ON MY CAR WITHOUT MY PERMISSION! It was only a $2 light bulb (they charged me $15 to replace it) but the principal of the matter dictates that they get permission before they add expenses above what I approved. They did not honor this principal. Also, my car smelled like an ashtray when I got it back. Would not go back. read more

Used to be a huge fan if the place until my coils went out on my F-250. They told me it was my spark plugs and did a $700 repair on my truck. When I picked up my truck it misfired just as it did when I brought it in. They told me it "worked earlier that day".. Then they blamed my cold air intake as if that makes an engine misfire. After about a month of them trying to fix it I finally went to the ford dealership and they had it fixed in 40min. Apparently it was two coils that needed replaced and firestone claimed they replaced all coils but it still didn't work so they took them off... Yea, right... When I went back in to ask exactly what they had done earlier so I could tell the ford dealer they immediately went to bashing the ford dealer rather than tell me what they actually did. Long story short.. Don't go to firestone. read more

I have never been to such a horrible place in my life. We took our (new to us) car to John's Firestone in rolla based on the 4 star rating. They asked us what we thought was wrong with the car we told them the alternator was bad and needed replaced and also the steering was bad specifically the rack and pinion but we knew there were other things and that we wanted everything in it that was bad to be fixed. That is on us for not doing more research and trusting complete strangers with our car. They fixed a bunch of things and said our car ran like new again. They charged us $1,054.02 for parts and $716.00 for labor which we were ok with and expecting to pay quite a bit. When I drove it home that Friday I didn't notice any problems however the next time I drove it the following monday everything I was experiencing before was exactly the same as if I never took it anywhere. We took it back again that day hoping they would honor the fact they didn't fix it instead they acted like we were new customers and charged us $222.61 for parts and $180.40 for labor. Some of the parts they supposedly "replaced" the first time to supposedly "replace" them again. The car already seems to be dragging as I just got the car back again. If it doesn't run great I can tell you they will see me in court and I will never ever take any vehicle back to those crooks again even if they were the last mechanics on earth. John's Firestone is a joke they deserve negative stars. read more

Bad experience there, bought new tires at home in KC and had the car aligned here. It drove straight when i brought it in, and pulled hard when I picked it up. After arguing with the manager and having the car brought back in 4 times the issue was never resolved and I was told it was the tires on the car. I took the new tires back where I bought then and have them exchanged, with new tires the car still pulled. When it back again I got the same answer, it was my car, the never mess up... Would not do business there again. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Johns Firestone for 30 years and will continue to do so and recommend them to others. They have taken care of every problem I have brought to them beyond tires and they have worked me into their schedule for emergencies. They have always given accurate estimates and let me know in advance how much something would cost and they get permission to complete the work. I know they will let me know when something is still drivable or when something is not safe to drive in the condition its in, whether its a brake issue or a tire issue. On the one occasion that I received a bad part (over 30 years of servicing my vehicles), they made it right for no charge. My parents have used Johns Firestone, I use them and I tell my kids to use them because we know they are a service we can trust. Being a single mom for many years, that means a lot. I don't care if someone down the street has a cheaper rate on a service because I go where I can trust the mechanics and the owners. I know they won't steer me wrong! read more
