I came out to Johnny's Hideout last weekend with a group specifically to see the live music by John Shanahan. One of my group called ahead and was able to reserve us 2 tables for 20 people. I thought this was a bar, but was pleasantly surprised to find when I got there it's a restaurant bar and their menu shows it. Very heavy cajun inspiration on the menu which I was excited about. I hadn't really planned to eat a lot but ended up ordering he cajun chicken sandwich with Krack fries. Both were really good. I'm not really sure what the "krack" fry is about. I asked the waitress and see said it's a seasoned fry but my fries didn't look or taste seasoned...they were still good though so I wasn't too worried about it. I also tasted the cajun shrimp that someone else ordered - VERY good. The live music was very cool. It was set up inside and acoustic so good volume and not overwhelming. The setup here is pretty big - there's a front outdoor area, the inside is seperated into bar on the right and restuarant on the left and I saw another outside area with a movie type screen and chairs out back (it was dark). The musician said when the weather is warmer they sometimes do the live music outside. I'd definitely come back for that. Our waitress was good keeping up with our party, answering questions, keeping my water filled - this is very important to me when I'm the only non-drinker, I frequently get forgotten. The food was slow... not a little slow, VERY slow... took over 40 minutes after we ordered our food. To be fair, the waitress let us know they were short a person in the kitchen and food was taking longer than normal. Also I came prepared to spend 3 hours watching the live music so I wasn't too worried about it. But this is good to know if you are in a hurry. Overall this has to be the coolest place in this general area which is fairly rural. It's not much a drive from STL county. I'd love to come back in warmer weather and eat on the patio.

Damn great dive-y bar with some serious bar foods (burgers, wings). Hot, spicy food ... good size portions - great value! Fast service. Clean, well-lit. Friendly staff. Mutliple tv's and slots. Separate dining and bar areas. Huge indoor/outdoor location. Private parking lots. Pinball !! Only one machine, but pinball !! Did I mention that I love pinball?

Outside seating is the best!

We were out riding on the bike (motorcycle) when we passed this little gem. Johnny's Hideout is an awesome spot for bikers. They have a covered outdoor seating area. The service is friendly and prompt! We ordered some fries and they were absolutely perfect!! They were hot, crispy, and perfect amount of salt. We will stop by again on future rides!!

Looks amazing for outside fun

Tried Johnny's for the first time. Server Brianna was very nice and even made my wife's salad herself. Food was fresh and hot. Wings were crispy and huge...I don't think I would do the garlic Parmesan sauce again but the Carolina was really good. BBQ Cajun shrimp was cooked well and enough spice without being too spicy. Place would be a good spot to catch up with friends. Will come back and try some other menus items and different wing sauces.

Food was great! Nice little bar and grill that is a little off the beaten path. You should try it.

Turkey legs!!

Always a great time and has the best outside patio around! Food is always great and the wings are amazing!

the inside of a restaurant

This is the second time in two weeks I have tried to come here and eat on the patio. Both times I went inside to be seated on the patio, I did not seat myself. First time we waited 15 minutes and were about to leave when a server asked if anyone had helped us. We said no, we have been waiting for 15 mins and she said she was sorry and would send our sever out to help us. I believe she did that, but another 7 minutes went by and still no one came out to help us. Second time (tonight) same thing, the hostess sat us out there with menus, waited 10 minutes and no one came. Never even got drinks. Very sad, do not waste your time coming here. Nothing like the old place.

Swiss mushroom burger with fries!

The food was delicious, generous portions, and there was a huge beer selection plus a full bar. The highlight of the evening was our server, Lulu. She was so attentive, friendly, and genuinely kind -- checking on us often, keeping us updated on our food, and taking time to chat with us. She truly made our dinner a 5-star experience. We'll definitely be back!

We were both pleasantly surprised at the decor, menu, etc. Reminded us of County Donegal. I started w Stella, Seamus w water. We then split a basket of fried mushrooms w "shamrock sauce". Excellent w a hint of horseradish. On to one of the specials - Irish meatloaf w green beans and smashed spuds. Both of us. We offered kudos to one of the chefs. The meatloaf consisted of ground beast, corned beast, chunks of carrots and other veggies. The spuds were infused w rosemary (not sure of her last name). The beans were paired w fried onions and bacon. A rich gravy accompanied the meal. Our server, Grace, was graceful, friendly, attentive, and efficient. All in all, a fantastic meal. 15 leprechauns; 5 for O'Dells, 10 for Grace Highly recommended
