Practices do not have this kind of turnover in medical providers unless they're doing something terribly wrong. Avoid Baptist Hospital at all COST. Emphasis on COST!!!…read more They are the most expensive hospital in the Lexington area and it is not because they offer superior services. This review is not concerning the services Baptist can render but concerning there inflated charges for services rendered. I just got off the phone with accounts payable and the lady told me that they do NOT receive any state funding so they have to ask for more money from those whom they serve than other facilities. Well that explains a little but it hurts when you get your bill. Believe me you will be shocked. My family has used Baptist Hospital and its many affiliate names at least three times and each time we are shocked when the bills come and truly believe that there must have been a mistake. OVER BILLING Example 1: My wife went in to have her annual check for breast cancer. The first check was ok. The Dr asked her to come in a second time to discuss the results. My wife and I discussed if it was worth her time and agreed that it was not but at the Dr's request she went in. While there they insisted she get a follow up exam. My wife questioned the charge and they said it was covered. Before she knew it they were doing it. Long story short they charged $600.00. They DO NOT adjust their statements. If you are lucky they will offer a 10% discount if you pay in full. They would not admit any wrong in changing the purpose of my wifes visit. What can we the people do to such a bully except pay OVER BILLING Example 2: My son woke up one morning 10/2014 with a very sore and swollen toe. We took him to our Pediatrician. and he sent us for x-rays to a Baptist satellite site. For a simple toe x-ray we were charged $604.00. ARE YOU KIDDING!!! Insurance got it down to $305. They want me to pay $305 for an x-ray of a toe. This is criminal. Let me give some perspective. My son broke his arm earlier this year. The (non-Baptist Hospital) ortho Dr took three x-rays each visit and charged $110, which after insurance is $25. Another example was the Chiropractor x-rays are $50 or less and they surely do not get government funding. Then when I called in to try to make sense of the bill and ask for a reduction since it was a mere toe x-ray they did not and WILL NOT budge on their price. They only offered a 10% discount if you pay it in full. I asked about payments, and they offered an 8 month plan. I said I cannot do that because of two surgeries this year we have many bills. I asked for 12 months. They showed NO sympathy but said if it were not paid by 8 months it would go to the bill collectors. Is this who you want to do business with? They over-bill and show no mercy. Learn from my experience and go elsewhere. CONCLUSION: Avoid Central Baptist Hospital and its affiliates like the plague. If you do not have any other place to spend your money than maybe Baptist is for you. But St. Joseph's (Kentucky One) and UK hospitals are here and will not overcharge like Baptist. You be the judge. As for me I will not visit them again.
