This accounting firm shouldn't even be called an "accounting firm" in that their practices are…read moreshady. The did a "formal" accounting for a national franchise and allowed franchisees to vote past the closing date of the votes which is completely unethical. Worse, than that, they sent out an email to the people that did not vote (only those and not the people who did vote) and encouraged them to vote past the deadline which would effectively help the franchise that retained them to do the voting process since the voting process was based on a "percentage of votes", meaning that if I switched my non vote to a NO vote, it could effectively help the franchise get to the required numbers of votes. I am sure if things were going "their way" that they would have closed the voting. I calledand emailed them to inquire what kind of process would allow them to encourage votes past the deadline and they did not return my call. Shame on Mike Harris for being a part of this process. He should have encouraged the franchise to retain a truly independent accounting firm, one that they did not have a relationship with.

Last year 2024 H&R Block in Hewitt, Roger Haglund advised us to file a 1041 for a small legacy we…read morereceived from a deceased relative. He said we would not owe taxes on what we received. Yet the 1041 generated a Schedule K . Lo and behold in 2025 we had to pay taxes on that Schedule K. Then when we re -approached H & R block Tommy filed an amendment showing the amount of "0" on the K-1. Now we have to file an amendment on our 2025 1040SR tax return. It is a big mess. Additionally we asked for the $300 back we never had to spend at all on an unnecessary 1041 (the small estate never earned one penny so nothing to show here). H&R block offered us a free tax return but no cash refund. In lieu of taking them to small claims court, we are posting a review here. So beware of certain people at H&R block Hewitt. Did they know we did not have to file but allowed us to file anyway? Roger Haglund is supposed to be an estate tax expert. Then Roger Haglund said that we insisted that we wanted the 1041 filed. Totally untrue. I would never have H&R Block to do our personal taxes. This situation with a death in our family of which our relative was dirt poor but had a small legacy to give to her surviving kids, was a one off. We had no lawyer, no one to give us advice. We went to H&R Block to see if we had to file anything on the $1970 we received to split three ways according to the will. If the money earns nothing, there is nothing to file BTW. Even Roger Haglund told us we owed nothing but the K-1's he filed said differently and we all had to pay taxes of the small amount we earned . How could Roger Haglund have not known this? Beware certain people at H&R Block in Hewitt.
