I initially became interested in The Nueva School after subscribing to receive job postings. What…read moreimmediately stood out to me was how frequently new openings were being posted -- sometimes seemingly every week. As an educator, that naturally made me wonder about staff turnover. Eventually, I applied for a position and interviewed with someone who honestly seemed very kind and thoughtful. I left the interview feeling optimistic, especially because I was told I would hear back by the end of the week. In education hiring, timelines usually move quickly because schools want to secure teachers for the upcoming school year before candidates accept other opportunities. Weeks went by with complete silence. No follow-up, no rejection email, nothing. Wanting to close the loop professionally, I eventually emailed to thank the interviewer for her time and wish her and her team the best for the upcoming year. Oddly, the message bounced back, even though I had been communicating through that exact same email thread previously. At that point, I honestly began wondering whether the communication had somehow been compromised or whether I had fallen into some strange scam situation. I even called the school directly to verify that the interviewer actually worked there, and thankfully she did. The school then provided me with another email address associated with their official domain. I forwarded my message there as well, but once again received no response at all. Whether the message reached her or not, the overall experience felt surprisingly unprofessional and dismissive, especially after what had initially seemed like such a warm interaction. After later reading additional reviews and experiences from others, I ultimately realized this probably was not the right fit for me anyway. Still, basic communication and professional courtesy go a long way, particularly in education, where relationships and respect matter.

Interviewed here and saw some things that were surprising to me for a school that is as well funded…read moreas this one is. i would likely avoid this school if you want your children to have a fully rounded education experience.

When we drop him off, he gives his teachers big hugs. All of them are so sweet too. I'm also impressed with the organized calendar we get every month. He engages in fun activities related to the holidays, palersize, Friday bicycle day, and more. He even says his prayers before lunch, which we've incorporated at dinner time at home. Logistically, I'm so thankful for the hours offered. We don't always have him there all day , but we can if needed. Additionally, I appreciate the respect they have for his clothes. Despite all the art and outside play, he always comes back clean and never has missing clothes (quite the opposite of his original daycare). They use brightwheel to track everything so we know about his every snack, potty, and nap. It's helpful as we potty train him too. Lastly, the pricing is fair. We are so happy we found this school where he is learning and is safe!

The school has awesome hours and a big playground for kids of mixed ages to play together. They also have fun activities like Apple picking, music time, librarian visits, and even an insect guy (my daughter held some type of centipede and was very proud, haha!) Communication with school was easy with the app and overall, we felt our daughter was cared for and safe. They also have a Christmas dinner event for all the families which brings everyone together. One small complaint is that my daughter got sick a lot but she sure did build up her immune system in retrospect!

We had one daughter start middle of second grade and one begin in kindergarten and there was no looking back. We were genuinely welcomed by an outstanding community of parents and educators that, for many years now, have had nothing but the best interests of our children in their hearts. For eight years we've seen our two daughters grow both scholastically and socially and we attribute much of that to the hard working teachers and administrators. One thing that truly stands out is the involvement of parents, grandparents, siblings, aunties and uncles. It's very unique in that so many volunteer their time and have a heartfelt interest in seeing everyone's children do well. We love Good Shepherd, and most importantly, our children love it too.

The unique part about this school is the kids constantly want to be there for any activity they host. Whether it's afterschool child care or a school sports event. The kids of all ages interact and are friends. You can tell that this community is strong and the parents / staff care. Sending my son and daughter to this school has made a huge difference in their lives. My wife and I are all in on Good shepherd Pacifica. Best catholic school / private school in the Bay Area because it excels in academics 100 percent but also in raising confident kind smart children. If you are lucky enough to get in due to limited class size and one per grade. Definitely sign up quickly!

We have been an Ocean Shore Family since 2018 and all 3 of my sons are enrolled there. I love that…read morethe kids all know one another's friendship groups and teachers. My two oldest sons are in middle school and are thriving. The culture is that kids want to make good grades and strive for success by team teacher and group projects. OSS' has an experiential learning model where students engage with the real world and the community through field trips like walking to the post office and fire department or visiting the SF botanic gardens or Bay Area museums. "Experiential learning helps students apply knowledge gained in the classroom to real-world situations, fostering skills that are useful in their future careers and in their lives. Students learn that they can make a difference as a citizen and a part of a community." I love our school. Our teachers are fantastic - some of the most gifted educators in the field. And our principal Tony is a gem; he is the perfect leader for us! I'm grateful we could be a part of this fantastic community.

My three kids have had a wonderful experience at Ocean Shore School. And so have I as a parent. Why…read moredoes my experience matter? Because Ocean Shore is a unique project-based learning school that invites parents to participate and learn alongside their kids. That's one of the things that appealed most to me when we were selecting which school to send my eldest to. I still remember sitting on the edge, praying so hard that we would win the lottery and get a coveted spot at this school. We have had a wonderful experience with most of our teachers. They are so creative and dedicated. The teachers make this school very special, and the community makes it exceptional. I love the way teachers embrace parent involvement not just as fundraisers but in the classroom, collaborating with them. About once a month, the whole class goes out into the world and learns outside the classroom. In kindergarten, we took the kids to the farmer's market, to the zoo, and to wade in tidepools at the beach. These field trips grow with the kids. My favorite overnight field trip is to Fort Ross, an old Russian Fur Trading Fort. It's a living history program that involves several months of prep where parents and students work together to make costumes, prepare food we will cook on oven fires, and items we will sell at the store. The kids take on roles of people who lived in the fort and learn to dance the troika. It's the kind of experience that can only be pulled off by a community of families working together. Two of my oldest kids are now off to college. Ocean Shore prepared them well for high school and they are now thriving in college. We often saw, Ocean Shore is a family of families. The community is incredibly open, inclusive, and supportive. Friendships made at Ocean Shore last a life time.
