I have used the ER here on multiple occasions as it's much faster and at least used to be a caring safe place. Unfortunately I cannot say this anymore. I had a concussion and went in on a Saturday night. The nurse was immediately suspicious of why I would go to Snoqualmie instead of a closer hospital. I had been having erratic moods and memory loss since the injury which is what tipped me off to go to the hospital. I was sobbing and apparently crying is a mistake and will get you labeled as "dramatic" in the care team notes. I was also noted for having "poor eye contact". I am also on the Autism spectrum but neither myself or my partner thought we needed to explain that as I have suffered concussions before and been escorted to Swedish by paramedics last year but since I'd been ok that time I'd been waiting to go until my symptoms became dangerous. I have having difficulty walking and passed out briefly attempting to back out of a parking spot. Luckily I hit a speed bump and not a person or another car which made me sit up from the steering wheel where my head had been resting. My moods were also becoming more erratic and uncontrollable. After this I called my partner who was out of town but got on the first plane to take care of me. In retrospect this was probably when I should have just called 911 but you don't think so good when you get hit on the head by a hunk of wood and fiberglass (sailboat accident). Since it was late on a Saturday night and we were both worried, we opted to go to Snoqualmie rather than risk a long wait time in Seattle I tried to explain this to the nurse who insisted I hadn't lost consciousness, I had simply "blacked out" probably due to disassociation from anxiety. WTF? I've grapple with anxious since I was a teenager. It never made me hit something with a car. Also she was critical of my choice to go to all the way to Snoqualmie if I was worried about my health. In the room she found last year's concussion and MRI and said "your MRI two weeks ago was normal." She had the year wrong. I had gone to Swedish in 2024. She did not like being corrected. She also looked at my medication history and noted that I had received medication for an addiction issue. At this point I believe she decided I was not worth any further time. The doctor came in and immediately lectured me for driving to Snoqualmie instead of another hospital and gave me a long list of all the other places I could have gone instead from UW to Virginia Mason. She said they didn't have anyone to do imaging here and when I asked if I should go to Overlake she told me I didn't need imaging and should just take some Tylenol and go home. At this point I fell apart to say the least. No one had listened. All I received was a lecture about how I made the wrong choice in hospitals. I was angry and bawling at this point. None of the symptoms I'd been concerned about concerned them. Contrasted to last year at Swedish where they were exceptionally cautious and tested everything and my symptoms weren't even as bad. I had an Autism meltdown in the parking lot and was told to leave by security. Neat. It's been a week later. I've seen two separate doctors one who ordered imaging and one who has recommended going back to the ER as things are worse, I still can't drive. I can barely sleep, my coordination is worse and my moods are still erratic. At this point my partner has had to return to work in another state and I'm exceptionally nervous about visiting another ER. Apparently I do not present as anything other than a dramatic anxious middle aged woman with poor eye contact. I'm pretty traumatized and afraid to seek care anywhere. Is this standard care now? Well I be treated like this if I go to another hospital? Unfortunately I'm going to have to find out. I certainly won't be returning to Snoqualmie Valley. I'm apparently not welcome there anyway for living 35 minutes away. It was a humiliating experience and made me feel worthless and unworthy of care. The current team at the SVH ER has no compassion and could care less if you're unusual in any way. I used to go to SVH because I felt safe there. Never again. I'm very sad to leave this review. Snoqualmie was my favorite home and I hate to have to leave such a low rating for a place that has nursed me through ankle injuries, life threatening infections and other odd urgent issues. I only hope I recover from this head trauma and have not been damaged by negligent, judgmental care.

She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.

Before that time, I was a patient of a large medical practice in Issaquah for over a decade. I've always tried to eat well and stay fit through exercise. So it has been frustrating that the story I've received every year at my annual checkup from my primary care physician at this large medical practice is the same: some of your biomarkers are higher than ideal and we'll just watch them. No further investigation, no analysis of underlying causes, no next steps at all. After I saw Dr Woodall, I learned for the first time that there were steps that I could take to address the underlying causes of my high biomarkers. The steps that I have taken include both medicines as well as nutritional supplements based on scientific knowledge and lab testing of vitamins and nutrients my body is not absorbing well. And I'm confident that the steps that I have taken will help me stay fit, active, and healthy as I move into an older stage of life. The doctors of the practice take a holistic approach seeking the root causes of ailments rather than merely addressing symptoms as seems to be the norm for many medical practices these days due. If you want to get ahead of health problems instead of dealing with them only after they arise, this is a medical practice that is highly worth investigating.

I feel for the Ridge community and the exponential ballooning debt they face from a 25 bed hospital that is filled by 15. The money wasted by new management leaves no resources for actual patient care and personal encounters at its ONE clinic. For 15-20 years, any money we saved the District through automation, systems consolidation, process improvements were quickly used to give each other bonuses at the top... rubbing each others backs. It's a shame. SRMC will never benefit from resources given to the district from the federal government. Please somebody look into Covid funds abuse.... Statute of limitations has long to expire at the federal level. Boy did they use it! Look at the collective inbred bonuses given to each other at the top post 2021. My heart goes out to the Ridge folks. It's not a wonder why the population still drives right past them and down to Swedish. The Dostrich can change their .dba as many times as they like; they will still be Comcast, with the only difference being that we can just drive 8 miles away for real care. Or, more importantly, right across the street to the top notch providers they let go because they can't afford quality given the District Waste.
