Where can I start, seriously avoid this guy at all costs, a family member bought a fire place from this guy my auntie to be exact she is in supported accommodation as she has ms and has had a few slight strokes and is mostly house bound now, any way after having looked around for a new fire place she finally decided to buy one from mr john Kane a dimplex LCD fireplace sold to her for £900 cash and was waiting on delivery just before Xmas last year, luckily enough the electrician that was meant to fit the fire couldn't at the time of delivery after saying for my auntie not to worry that I would fit the new fire for her to make sure it was done in time for Xmas, once seeing the new fire it was obvious it was a second hand ex display model that was sold to her as it was filthy and not even in the correct box so on realising this she asked myself to return the fire for a refund as it wasn't what she had bought, I contacted mr Kane asking for a re fund stating that it was because the firm was not brand new and looked as if it had been fitted before, I was told that I wouldn't get a refund and a new replacement fire would be ordered after stressing that we were not happy and didn't want a new one and just wanted a refund because we didn't trust him after tryin to pull the wool over our eyes with the last one he hung up the phone then minutes later texted myself to say a new one was ordered and could be collected after Xmas holidays when the shop opened back up, so we had no choice but to wait till the shop opened after new year to try sort this out, once the shop finally opened we returned the fire to mr Kane telling him we did not want a new one we just wanted a re fund, he then said the fire had been re moved from the packaging and looked as if it had been fitted our answer was of course it had been but not at the house but had been in his shop to which he denied, looking around the shop I noticed a blank space of the wall with the note on the wall describing the fire place we were returning so it was clearly ex display and had been takin down, this then got mr Kane's back up and got him shall we say a tad annoyed to the fact he then swore under his breath at my partner, so then said he would need to check the fire place to make sure it was working and if it wasn't then that was tough we must have broken it after I stood and watched him plug it in and my partner now try and phone my aunt to tell her what was happening he told me the fire wasn't coming on and wasn't working after what shall we say a few choice verbal words from myself and then just threatening to have to call the police because of the way he was carrying on all of a sudden the fire magically switched on after he checked it and then agreed to give us a refund we were told it wouldn't be the cash balance that was paid to him T the time because he didn't have cash there and wouldn't shut the shop to go get it, but with refusing to leave till this was sorted he then told us it would need to be a bank transfer refund so we contacted my aunt to ask if this was ok, she wasn't very happy to give over bank details after the way she had been treated but felt there was no option but to go ahead and do this, so we agreed with mr Kane this would have to do but my aunt wanted to speak to him on the phone and after my aunt gave him the what for over the phone he transferred the re fund but only after asking if he gave her a discount on the one we were returning would she not just except the fire, I'm not sure but I can only say I wouldn't want the fire after where she told him he could stick it.
Anyway after getting her money back which took a few days to show in her account we finally got her the same style fire for half the price so she treated herself to a new iPad too with the money she saved and after popping up and fitting the new fire for her she is happy now and just glad it all finally got sorted.
I have to say as a small business owner myself I could never treat any customer this way especial a older disabled person like my aunt or any one to the matter, I can only say I'm truly disgusted the way she was treated and I would urge everyone to stay as far away from this company as you can read more
