Best place in Manchester for 35mm film developing!…read more Cheaper and better quality prints than boots, jessops etc. Lady and man that work there are very friendly and the 1 hour processing is v reliable, one time they even spent extra time tweaking the exposure (probably not the correct terminology I'm not familiar with the process of developing prints) on some prints from very dodgy expired film that I took in, so I got better photos at the end for no extra price. If you want affordable, good prints and friendly service this is the place to go! Been going for 2 years and really missed it when I moved out of Manchester for a while - definitely recommend.

The selection is pretty good, the selection of printers is smaller but with Currys PC World, nearby, no longer stocking them in-store, it is one of the few bricks and mortar stores nearby with physical stock. I find some of the staff to be a little rude, and sometimes I just wish I'd have ordered on Amazon at a cheaper price, that being said the store is easier on the eye than other stationery stores which I find to be often a little messy, and the selection is good, so if you do need stationery in a hurry, this store isn't too bad and the location is convenient being on the upper floor of the Manchester Arndale, next to the old Specsavers unit, which was taken over by Foot Locker. 3*

I was always taught the spelling by the rule, 'e' is for envelope. Alongside envelopes expect to find diaries, calendars, folders, paper, printer cartridges, pens, highlighters, Tippex, Post It notes, blank CDs and pretty much every other item of stationery you'd need in the office or at university. They don't sell larger objects such as office furniture and printers, as it is really only a tiny little shop.

To the best of my knowledge there's been no fist fights or smashed windows involved, just a competition over which business can offer customers the lowest prices. So far, Govind's News seems to be winning with 2p for photocopies and Half Price on all the daily and weekends tabloids and broadsheets. Handily, they also sell beer, milk, bread, soup, crisps, baked beans, spaghetti hoops, toilet roll and chocolate bars - making it a bit of a one-stop shop for students and locals on a budget.

Absolutely similar to Metro Convenience Store next door, Govin seems to have slightly less stock, with a basic slection of bread, eggs, milk and the like. It gets a point for offering photocopying at an incredibly cheap 2p per page. If you're a student with a handing-in deadline and you fancy beating the library queues and saving a few pennies whilst you're at it, Govin is the place to go. Govin News Agents, just like Metro, also sells odd items. Coloured drinking straws? A football? People must be buying this stuff I guess...

Yesterday for me was a day of running around the city to get things printed and buy cardboard,…read morepaint and other fun things. It reminded me of my days back in Uni and more so because I had to go back to the university area to get all these things for cheap. I had to print 100 copies of color handouts with two hand outs in each page. My friend from University suggested me to go to Compudos right next to pub zoo and near MMU students union. Thank god it is March and the students don't have to get their ultra thick dissertations printed, because this is when printing places become busier than Obama (No kidding). I had a pretty smooth entry into the shop because there was no queue of any kind and the shop owner was very friendly and welcoming. I could not find my pen drive so he let me use his computer to open my email and find the document (bless him). He then printed out the copies for me and also help me cut the papers (I had two handouts in one sheet). That was such a big help because I was dreading to do that by myself. He also guided me as to where I could find a massive cardboard and paint for cheap. The printing cost me only 23 pounds (100 copies of color print). Verdict: Good service and reasonable pricing! I am definitely going back whenever I have any printing work!
Compudos is one of a number of computer repair centres in the area surrounding the two Manchester…read moreuniversity Campuses (University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University) - with all the students downloading music and/or spilling cider onto their laptops they all do a pretty brisk trade. My friends have used Compudos to repair their computers in the past and report them to be quick and reasonably priced - but then any price is reasonable when it comes to recovering your un-backed up research project. My contact with the business came when I needed to get my dissertation bound on the day it was due to be handed in. The queues at the highly recommended U-Print (located on The University of Manchester's north campus) were massive and I was verging on full-blown panic attack by the time I reached Compudos. Within five minutes they had spiral bound both copies of my dissertation at a charge of only £7 (metal binding is available for £8.50 a copy and hardback for £15, with a £5 surcharge for a one hour rush service.) I handed it in with half an hour to spare. And that's how Compudos saved my degree, true story.

The staff are super helpful once you find the shop in the basement of the students union. I think they are really very good value, and will certainly use them again if I get the chance, might even see if they will do my calendars for next year. They are obviously used to printing off dissertations and binding things, but put up with me very well. Anyway go here, if you want to print things small or large.
