So, my neighbor, who clearly has no regard for the opinions and/or information from women, came to my house the DAY I moved in and told me he wanted to cut a tree limb from my massive oak that was growing into his stupid cedar tree in his backyard. It IS his right to cut, but I asked him to wait until the tree is dormant in January. He had no interest in waiting although it must have taken well over 10 years for the limb to grow that far. He hired John Dossey to cut down a dead tree in his yard and then asked to talk to me in his yard about my limb. I went over there, and John Dossey immediately started being rude and abrasive! I explained that all the research said this (early June) was not the time to cut the limb down, but he wouldn't hear of it. I even told him that a young man's, who had done some work at my house that very morning, father was a tree specialist and said this was not the time to cut an oak tree. John Dossey yelled at me that the young man had no idea what he was talking about, to which I asked him how he knew because he didn't even know the man! I even asked him why he was being so antagonistic to me. He backed off then and told me to call the county extension agent, so I did. Coincidentally, I had a landscaper over not much later to give me a bid on work in my yard, and the landscaper cringed at everything John Dossey was doing, including throwing tree limbs from the roof onto the St. Augustine grass. I asked the landscaper to talk to my neighbor, and he did. He told my neighbor that now was not the time to cut the limb, but if he was determined to do it, to at least sterilize the blades and paint the cut. My neighbor kept bragging about John Dossey and refused to look me in the eye, even though the landscaper knew that John Dossey was clueless. Needless to say, the limb was cut. A representative from the county extension office called me that evening and was aghast that John Dossey had cut the limb. She said there was NO pruning oak trees from Feb through the end of June and that John Dossey has no clue what he was doing. I reported this to my stupid neighbor who insisted that Dossey did know everything all while saying Dossey gave me other tree specialists to call (he did not, he only told me to call the county, which I did, and she said Dossey had no idea what he was doing). So, now I am left with a jerk neighbor and a worry about my gorgeous tree. Do NOT hire this man!!! read more
