As an undergrad,…read moreI had the opportunity to shadow Dr. Chang over the summer and witnessed his commitment toward his patients and his students. He is exceptionally knowledgeable, dissecting questions at different angles for his students/residents. He is also highly compassionate toward his patients. Whenever patients hesitate to take an annual scan out of fear, he would always encourage them to overcome their fear and inform them of the significance of regular screening. After my shadowing experience at SHM, I recommended Dr. Chang to my mom. As a first-gen immigrant, my mom has always been very anxious about seeing doctors in the US. But after her visit, she said Dr. Chang was very patient and informative. He insisted that my mom do a mammogram despite having done one back in China 6 months ago. The most recent mammogram reveals that there are suspicious masses! But thankfully, we were able to bring the situation under control due to early discovery. As a pre-med student, the shadowing experience was educational and encouraging. He is a fun and approachable guy and thoroughly answered all my questions about med school and application. As a family member to his patient, we are thankful for his professionalism and compassionate communication. I highly recommend Dr. Chang!

They keep saying: "oh, we're busy right now, we'll calling u back." It never happens. All lies. Zero calls back. Worst one, the NP was yelled and didn't even want to listen to the complain, and hung up. Waow! What a service! Super epic. They called, inform about "something" that wasn't a clear instruction, and wanted us to check with a neuro specialist. How to communicate with the next doctor, if the instruction I received wasn't clear? If u inform something to someone, and someone communicate it to someone else, and it became unclear what do you want, cannot give response back, get the hell out pls. Do it yourself. Don't care what u want anymore. When I asked, "nicely"... their response was: oh, we're VERY busy right now, we WILL call you back. PRETT!! "Liar!" And the NP was saying: "don't u understand that we're VERY BUSY!!" "You need to listen to me!" (When she's the one NOT listening!) (After I called 3x and waited for them to call back like almost 8 hours???) Don't u think I AM NOT BUSY MA'AM? I was "too busy" waiting for your response, just to ask, what do u want from the neuro? From the kidney doctor? What the hell u want? Explain it nicely, not so complicated ma'am "busy-in-the-world." I'm sure the doctor is a nice person, but NOT the ma'am NP! She's a fucking bullshit!!! Not a profesional at all. They tend to hanging up their phone OR just blocked u into a busy line, so when u called them, NOONE (like literally noone) will pickup the phone OR listen to your voicemails. Their phone is broken, just like their heart is broken. Probably, just come to their busy office, and see how "busy" they are blocking people's phones call to make a very QUIET room. Wow!! Applause to their profesionalism. That's how they got their profesional degree. Just blocking people's phone, and do prescription till their patient's kidney is broken.

So here's the story: I usually don't take any medication and don't trust western medicine for multiple reasons. However, I was very sick and started developing a very sore throat and started getting red patches on my soft palette in my mouth. I was horrified, since it was out of nowhere, and I've never experienced such a thing in my life. Since I couldn't speak, my boyfriend checked out yelp, and saw the lonely 5 star review that the reviewer below left. We both liked the fact that a doctor *gasp* actually spends time with his patients! So to the doctors we went. Okay, so it was 70 bucks just to see Dr. Hone. First of all, I've been to an ENT and spent 120 dollars, and didn't even get a fraction of the care that I got from Dr. Hone. As soon as I met with him, I knew he was a genuinely kind soul. He was very attentive and asked questions, and was never condescending. He explained to me that the reason I had strep-throat like sores in my mouth was because my immune system was fighting the virus, therefore allowing the bacteria to generate... or something like that, haha. He made sense, basically. He also checked my heart and we talked about my heart murmur, when he didn't have to. When the receptionist told him he had a phone call, he asked her kindly to hold it, continued speaking to me, and noticed her urgency, and excused himself to get on the phone. He came right back, apologized, and continued where he had left off, instead of forgetting, like I'd assume some doctors would. Basically, I believe there's nothing to lose here, as I've decided he's the best doctor I've ever been with. I absolutely recommend you to him!

**** CASH ONLY****…read more Haven't been his patient for too long. So I'll just get a review of what I think so far. The doctor is a pretty decent doctor who listens to your symptoms and sit with you while you talk and he charts. ****Big Negatives**** If you want the doctor to sign paper work for time off work or disability, don't count on it!! You'll have to PAY COPAY to visit him and just to SIGN PAPERS!! Had to do that a couple times because he wouldn't sign and his office workers told me they'll do it but didn't. They even said to come and PAY TO GET THE DOCTOR TO DO HIS JOB. ********** Lots of Chinese patients. Be prepared to wait 30+ minutes even when you have an appointment. I wouldn't go when it's in the mornings. All the elderly patients go from 9am-12pm. Be prepared to wait 1+ hour on a Monday 1 or Saturday!! Hours are a bit odd. There's a 2 hour that the whole office takes lunch so you won't be able to reach anyone or call in for anything until they reopen at 2pm. Also, some days office only open until 12pm!! Office staff are young females. Some knows mandarin some don't. The office size is small with only 14 seats waiting seats. Old looking and feeling seats. Office feels like it's really old and very cramped!

To be fair, the hospital's facilities and systems are quite outdated. The environment is not as clean, modern, or child-friendly as other children's hospitals that usually have bright spaces and play areas for kids. Even the admission forms are still on paper, available only in English and Spanish, which was difficult for me as someone who mainly reads Chinese. Everything changed when I met my child's doctor. She is a young Asian female doctor who speaks fluent Chinese. Her patience, attentiveness, and genuine care for children deeply moved me. Whether it was an examination or a procedure, she always asked for my consent first and carefully explained everything to both me and my child, which gradually eased my child's anxiety and resistance. My child lost his mother a year ago, so I have been especially concerned about his mental health, but I hadn't found the courage to tell him the truth. Now that he has turned four, I decided to seek advice from a family doctor. Her unique perspective and simple, understandable words touched me and gave me the courage to finally make a decision. From her eyes, I could see sincerity, compassion, and deep empathy. She cares not only about a child's physical well-being but also about their emotional growth. She offered me practical advice and thoughtful guidance that brought comfort to me as well--someone who is still struggling with grief. In many ways, she helped heal me too, restoring my confidence and hope for my child's future. I am truly grateful, and I feel very fortunate to have met such a doctor in a hospital I never expected much from. For me, it was a blessing--and for my child, who has already endured such hardship, it was an even greater blessing.

I drove in one hours worth of traffic only to find out I was at the wrong location. It took me three months to make the appointment which really pissed me off! I hurried over to the correct location to see the doctor I was assigned too. As for the actual appointment the front desk nurse apologized for the mishap. I was seen by the nurse who was courteous and professional. The doctor I was assigned to was professional and answered all my questions and made me feel at ease as it didn't seem to me he would drag me through a bunch of unnecessary tests like some other specialist. She was very unprofessional and she laughed at us with her coworker and didn't try to hide it and then hung up on us. Maria and I both left a voicemail. Hopefully she didn't erase it. She also gave us a name but I'm almost positive it was a fake one. She wanted me to come, and pay for a visit because I told her that they made a mistake last time and only gave me a 90 day prescription when you ALWAYS give me a one year. She wanted me to come down and pay for another visit (of almost $100) and wouldn't understand that it was a mistake. She even had the gall to say that doctors have a right to do it. So I said in the 10 years he never did it and it was a mistake but she insisted I come to the office, wait, and pay. She kept doubling down to come to the office and said I could not talk to you but she would leave you a message. I didn't believe she would hence the reason I'm writing this review. So I went online and got a prescription and my meds for half the price of going to your office and spending half a day there. I went there because of you but your employee and the girl that worked with her that day on December 3rd left a bad taste in my mouth. If you like, you can call me and I will take this review down. Please talk to your employees because they are costing you business with their attitude and they seem to not care that they are hurting your business. You deserve better human beings working there that have compassion for your patients. Not someone who is just there for a paycheck and wants to make life miserable for other people. Unfortunately the other people are your patients.
