I developed a really bad case of vertigo late last year, and had it for about 2 months. Some days…read moreit was so severe, I literally felt like I was walking around drunk - everything was spinning, and I felt like I had to hold onto rails when I walked up and down stairs. I figured the condition was largely stress related (I'd never been so stressed out or anxious in my life), or possibly related to sleeping in some kind of bad position. I didn't know much about vertigo, and even though I'd researched it, I wasn't able to figure out a treatment that worked for me. Luckily, it seemed to go away over time - for the most part, though small bouts of vertigo did resurface a few times, but just for a day or two. My sister had the same issue that mysteriously appeared, then disappeared. Well, for whatever reason, I got vertigo again, last week. I don't know if it was triggered by my new aerobic exercise program or doing excessive neck stretching or what, but, all of a sudden the vertigo came back full force, and it was so bad I felt like I had to spend the whole day in bed on Friday. It was not good. I get really depressed when I am not feeling well or if I'm not being productive, so I could feel myself slipping into a really bad funk. Vertigo can make you feel really anxious because you feel really out of control when everything in your head feels like it's starting to spin around for no apparent reason! Well, I started doing more research and am thanking my lucky stars for the fact that I ran across this article, in which a man says he cured his vertigo by doing a simple exercise that was invented by Dr. Foster. You can read it here: https://www.menshealth.com/health/a28679454/benign-paroxysmal-positional-vertigo-treatment/ There was a link for a video she had on YouTube, so I clicked on it and tried it myself. Here's the link, if you want to see how to do the exercise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQR6b7CAiqk HO - LY - COW. I can't believe this simple, 5 minute exercise actually worked to cure my vertigo, when I'd been STRUGGLING with it for MONTHS, late last year. I do realize that the exercise may not address the underlying cause of the vertigo (I realize I may never know what triggered it), but at least I am back to being a functional human being again. We live in a day and age where it's VERY HARD to find a doctor who is willing to give out information for free. I even commented to a friend of mine, this afternoon, that a TRULY good doctor is one who tries to give you advice that's good enough so you don't even NEED to come in and see them. That is the kind of physician Dr. Foster clearly is. She says in the video that if this doesn't work to fix your vertigo, you can always come in and try other treatment options. Why can't EVERY doctor be like her?? I don't know if Dr. Foster will ever see this but if so, I just want to extend a huge amount of gratitude for sharing this really useful tip. I wish you could get a nobel prize for figuring this out....seriously. For anyone looking for a good neurologist who actually cares about their patients.... give Dr. Foster a call! She obviously cares about helping people to get better, and get on with their lives.

I rolled with it thinking maybe there was a method to his madness and he was trying to get a baseline. We agreed on a date and time for a follow-up in a week. I then got an email for an appointment in 2 days. I tried calling and emailing, no response so I cancelled the appointment online. I then got another email for an appointment a week later but at a time I couldn't do. Again, tried to contact to fix, no response. Completely unresponsive. He sent me one boilerplate email with generic recommendations. Here is the content so you can save your time and money. "Here is a list of potential pain management/coping resources we discussed that many patients use to manage their pain on a daily basis.   1. First, app-based guided instruction in relaxation is always a good option.  There are several apps you can download and the apps contain professionally guided instruction in relaxation to promote pain reduction.  Most frequently used by my patients is CALM (breathing, imagery, meditation) and HeadSpace (progressive muscle and autogenic relaxation strategies).  You can download and begin practice.  They also help with sleep quality.    2. There is a CBT Pain Coping manual entitled "omitted because I'm not advertising it." Reviews the most common concerns reported by patients with pain trying to cope with long-term pain issues.  There are exercises for each chapter to help you personalize the lessons to your specific circumstance, then a number of suggestions regarding strategies patients use to manage these situations.   Please obtain and start your review and we'll review the primary pain coping points at our upcoming visits.   3. Many patients benefit from online Pain Support Groups and attached is the contact information for Dr. SoAndSo who coordinates the online Pain Support Groups in the Denver Metro area should you be interested.  You can contact Dr. SoAndSo and he'll inform you as to how you can participate." There, I just saved you time and money.

I'm hoping I don't have to live with the pain forever, but if I do, I'm glad that I have the knowledge to deal with the pain as best as I can. Highly recommend.
