I remember they started building it and thinking 'you will never be as great as 'de Kuip' in Rotterdam. Well.. The Arena has better fines, sound and they have so much more additional locactions.. it is far beyond just a stadium.

Finally taking the time to review this place... I came here for a football match between Ajax and FC Barcelona (!!) a few years ago -- the only thing my husband requested we do (watch a game, any game) during our whole honeymoon. The arena certainly did not disappoint! First, it is easily accessible via public transportation. We opted to take the metro which was an amazing adventure in itself and it dropped us off right by the stadium. I felt like I was in the movie Green Street Hooligans the whole way there. I've never experienced anything quite like that in my life! We got to the stadium and jumped in line at one of the gates & scanned our tickets only to find the whole gate flash red. We thought we could just enter through any gate -- nope. We didn't realize that there were numbers on our tickets and we had to go to that specific section. Rookie mistake and everyone probably knew we were tourists at that point!! They had a good laugh for sure. Lol. Makes sense though & I imagine it's to make the lines more efficient. Luckily, there was barely a line at our gate and getting through was a breeze. We had pretty amazing seats just 5 rows from the field! Everything was clean and clearly marked. You could see the supporters up on the corner of the second level waving their flags and they were so loud you could hear them chanting! I immediately had flashbacks of my years in Colorado sitting in the supporters section cheering on the Rapids. Seriously, amazing atmosphere and a dream come true for my husband. The game was fantastic. How can you beat watching a legend, Lionel Messi, score multiple goals in one night?! Luckily, we didn't wear FC Barcelona gear that night ;) When we got hungry & thirsty we were able to pick up some beers & snacks during the interval and enjoyed the rest of the night cheering on both teams. The only thing I wished I could change from that night was dressing warmer or bringing a blanket! The temperatures dropped so much by the time the game ended, I was a frozen popsicle. Haha. Other than that, I highly recommend catching a game here when you're in town and taking the metro on the way to a soccer match. You'll get a firsthand look into football hooliganism :)

Johan Cruyff ArenA is the main and national stadium of The Netherlands, located in Amsterdam, it was previously called the Amsterdam Arena, up until earlier this year before being officially renamed at the start of the 2018-19 season in memory of legendary Dutch footballer Johan Cruyff, who scored 190 goals in 240 games for Ajax in 9 years (in his first spell at the club), Ajax, of course, are the Amsterdam club who play here, alongside The Netherlands National Football Team who play some fixtures here. Due to my love of football, I'm delighted to make this place my 2000th Yelp review, it isn't the first time I've used this milestone, however, with Hull City's KCOM Stadium marking my 1200th review and Leicester City's King Power Stadium marking my 1800th, and possibly even more, but it's always nice to mark the milestone with a special, cool business and a positive review, especially one like 2000! Back to my review - the Arena remains quite a new stadium, being built in the early 1990's, before opening and hosting its first Ajax match in 1996, since then it has become an amazing place, especially for Ajax fans with regular club tours in English and Dutch, reasonably priced, I personally paid 12.50 euros and ended up getting a tour guide on my own, the tour guide was really friendly and took me to everything I wanted to see, he was excellent and a true asset, when someone thinks of a stadium, they think of the players that work there, but the tour guide was great and one of the unsung heroes of the stadium which sees the likes of Kasper Dolberg and Matthias De Light play every fortnight. The stadium also is quite impressive in how it uses rail seating, it blends in the rail seating to avoid it looking ugly as it sometimes does, and of course, the seats do come down in case a fan decides to sit, which is required by UEFA restrictions, which Ajax have to follow as they are regularly in UEFA competitions (Champions League, Europa League etc) The stadium is quite easy to get to, with Arena Boulevard nearby, where there is a train station where you can get into central Amsterdam (Zuid and Central) via train or metro quite quickly, and there's also multiple budget hotels nearby (such as Hampton by Hilton) and a Starbucks, most of these places I presume get really busy on a match day - I only visited during my week in Amsterdam on a regular day, being unable to get tickets for a match due to an issue with them not being available for foreign fans or sold-out - I never saw tickets go on sale in the first place despite the club telling me they would and regularly checking their website so this is an issue. The whole ticketing system here, even when you get to the Arena to book the tour is confusing, to say the least, and the staff seemed a little angry at me for a while for asking basic questions - such as when my tour guide would be there and where the toilets were. The retractable roof design also is really cool and impressive, and only something I have seen once before - at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, but the design here is something of art, it is a lot nicer. I even saw former Manchester United and Ajax goalkeeper Edwin Van Der Sar during my tour, who despite spending a lot of his career playing for a rival team, as I'm a Manchester City fan, still seemed like a nice guy when I saw him during my tour. The whole setup of the stadium, with it being the largest in the country, being in the capital of The Netherlands and including a royal box and multiple other cool features, overall being an impressive stadium makes it feels like a national stadium, despite the national team sometimes playing away in cities around the country such as Rotterdam, I can't help but feel a larger capacity would also reflect this, with the Arena actually smaller than a number of stadiums in England, and just short of 40,0000 capacity smaller than our national stadium, the previously mentioned Wembley. Overall, this is a really cool stadium and it also differs from other stadiums through the use of rail seating (which is currently banned in England) and the fact the stadium tour is better than average (this means something from someone who has been on quite a lot at multiple stadiums, times and countries!) I'm going to award the Amsterdam Arena, now called Johan Cruijff ArenA a strong four-star rating as it is a really cool stadium with a great stadium tour, but perhaps to improve, making tickets for events and stadium tours easier and more understandable, and perhaps expanding the capacity to reflect the great stadium it is, to make it better compare to more stadiums worldwide which are often regarding to as more iconic such as Wembley Stadium and Camp Nou.

The first time I went to Ajax stadium is when I saw my first soccer game in Amsterdam between America and Holland. It was an awesome experience! I went with about more then 100 American supporters from Amsterdam University to show some love for America. Unfortunately, we lost the game to Holland but of course we still rocked and the experience was awesome! I got a kick out of watching Dutch soccer fans because they go to great length to show their love for Holland. Fans were pouring in with a stream of orange. It was a large number of Dutch fans painted in bright orange. Many painted their faces orange too. I was blown away by the bright orange glow in the stands. I must say Dutch fans out-shined their rival from head to toe when it came to team spirit. Next to Queen's day, I never saw so much orange in my life. Orange wigs, orange hats, orange farmer suits, orange soccer jerseys and they even rock the orange crown.

An awesome stadium to catch an Ajax game at. The setting inside is beautiful and feels very new and updated. The sight lines are great and can't imagine having a bad view from many places. There are several restaurants on the ground floor outside the stadium and a team shop for Ajax gear. My only complaint would be that there's no real main entrance or front view.

I got the pleasure of going to my first Euro football. It was an experience like no other! The whole adventure is just insane. It starts with trains from all directions packed with hooligans heading to the same destination. You step out, go down the escalator, and you're instantly in a sea of fans walking toward a large open area in front of the stadium entrance. There are bars serving up cheap beers to enjoy before heading inside. Inside is a giant, open air arena with 50,000+ seats that were all filled by the time the game started. There's a great energy that's hard to describe about this place. The best part was when the entire stadium was singing Marley.

Great stadium. My second time here. And both times have been a blast. Everything is fast and efficient. Plenty of places to drink and eat right in front of the stadium means that's never an issue. Getting in is fast as well. Seats could've been spaced with a few extra inches of legroom. It's a pain for someone to walk through to their seats. Other wise it's all great.

Impressive and easily reachable by public transportation. You may have your own customize Ajax jersey in the Fans Shop

I went to The Black Keys concert at Ziggo Dome on May 5, 2024. I had so much fun and I'm glad I had…read morethe opportunity to see them since they canceled their U.S. tour. Attending a concert in another country is definitely an interesting experience. Tickets: Tickets are sold through Ticketmaster Netherlands. I waited until the day before to purchase tickets since the show was not sold out. My one regret with waiting was discovering that I couldn't use my Visa card! For this concert, they only accepted American Express and Maestro. My mom came through in the clutch and let me use her AmEx card to buy the ticket. Once I purchased my ticket, I was able to download a PDF file. If you have the app, you can download a QR code for your tickets as well. One of the ticket add-ons was for Alpine PartyPlug ear plugs. You can also buy them at the venue. That is such a great idea and American venues should consider doing this. Transportation: I took the Metro to Station Bijlmer ArenA. From there it was about a 10 minute walk. The venue is right next door to the soccer stadium so it wasn't difficult to figure out which way to walk. Security: When you go through security, they pat you down and look inside your bag. There is a bag size restriction; if your bag is too large you can rent a locker. There's also a free cloakroom. Once you're cleared to walk through, you will receive a loud "Ja" ("yes") from the security guard lol. The guy in front of me had a lighter and they let him through lol. Needless to say, it's definitely different from the U.S. Concessions: They recently implemented a drink token system (and If I'm not mistaken, The Black Keys concert was the first time they did this). You are given a token at the entrance which is used for a plastic cup. When you purchase your drink, you give the bartender the token and pay for the drink (they do take Visa cards!). Here's where it gets interesting: if you want a refill, you must bring your cup back. If you do not, you will have to pay €1 for a new cup. This is their way of trying to be green. After the show, you can recycle your cup in the proper bin. They have specialty bars throughout the venue. I purchased a beer from a regular bar on the concourse. I believe the only beer option at that particular bar was Heineken. Seating and Layout: Ziggo reminds me of a larger version of 713 Music Hall in Houston. It has a large floor and two balconies. The floor was GA for this show. The venue itself was very nice and clean! The signage was prominent and the majority of signs are written in both Dutch and English. The seating in my particular section had a divider blocking what would have been an aisle. It was nice to have extra space, but if I needed to get up, I would have had to cross through the entire row to get out. It looked like the divider may have been removeable. Show: The sound quality was great! The Dutch audience was a bit more subdued (at least in my section) compared to American audiences. Despite that, I had a really great time and I would definitely see another show at Ziggo Dome.

Thankfully most of Reznor's fans have grown past their teenage angst and ridiculous costumes to truly appreciate what can truly now be considered one of the best live performers in Rock history. At 60 years old, with Oscars on his mantel, the visuals have never been better and the vocals never clearer. A stage, B stage, deep cuts and favorites reimagined. The Peel it Back tour is a triumph and Ziggo Dome saw it executed beautifully, with easy in-and-out, safety protocols and excellent crowd management.

With a capacity of around 50,000, it's a fairly good-looking stadium which was renovated in 1994, when it became an all-seater. The stadium feels mostly modern, but is old and run down in places. The stadium is easily accessed by the Rotterdam Tram, on a match day you can catch the train, using Rotterdam Stadion nearby, bus services are also available a short walk away. There is also a restaurant in the stadium, which has a fairly priced menu with lots of options for lunch, Brasserie De Kuip, however, this appears to have been closed for a while now. The stadium does tend to be poorly lit at night on a non-event day but is still attractive nonetheless, I guess they don't see the point of lighting up the stadium when there is not an event on, which is understandable. A fairly attractive stadium which can host concerts during the summer, and football all year round, nice stadium to go to with a good atmosphere, which I enjoyed visiting during my time in Rotterdam. Great public transport links also help a lot. 4*
