I love Farm Boy. It was nice to be in the city where Farm Boy started…read more I had had lunch at Pelican Seafood Market & Grill and decided to visit Farm Boy next door. I didn't need anything, but had to walk off a good meal and wanted to browse. I loved the fresh, organic herbs that greeted me outside the store. They looked cheerful and healthy. The coconut raspberry crumble pie greeted me. I wanted one, but was so full that I didn't pick one up. If you want to spend less at a supermarket, drop by with a full meal in your tummy. I visited this store on Canada Day eve. Naturally, there were butter tarts and all things Canadian everywhere. It was cool. I always loved seeing the swinging gorilla in the produce section. Visiting a Farm Boy isn't complete for me until I see it! My Portuguese egg tarts were there. The hot foods looked yummy. The tofu coconut curry was so fragrant that I stood there and inhaled. There is lots of parking. However, this plaza (it's dubbed as a mall, but it's a plaza in my eyes) does get busy. I parked as far from this supermarket as possible and all worked out well. (231)

I also Love the salad bar, both hot and cold! You can get a loyalty card that slowly earns a free salad each time you spend over $5, but keep in mind that you only get one "stamp" per purchase - so if you are buying several salads, all over $5, you will still only get one credit for that purchase. Understandable, but as someone who appreciates earning these kinds of deals, I wish it were a little easier to earn - but I suppose we should not complain about freebies!

T&T stands for Tina & Tiffany, after the founder's 2 daughters. T&T are also the initials of 2 early investors as well. You can find this market in the same plaza as Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters with plenty of parking. I love shopping at T&T Supermarket with such a vast selection of fresh produce, seafood/ meat, dried and fresh noodles, bakery goods, teas, premade foods/ meals, etc (there is also a hot food bar you can pick from and serve yourself and pay by the weight). My husband and I stopped by this particular location this afternoon. It was pretty busy, but that was expected on a Saturday. We got our cart (requires $1 to use but you will get it back after you return it) and then went inside to shop. Coming from Montreal and shopping there earlier this week, I was surprised to find that some of the same items at this location actually cost a little more. For example, I was looking for this special Hong Kong Milk Tea bag that saw that it cost $1 more for the box than at the location in Montreal. I like that this market is clean and does not have that familiar smell that some Asian markets may have. Aisles are wide enough to navigate your cart through and each aisle is labeled accordingly to help shoppers find where they may want to shop in. During this shopping visit, my husband and I ended up purchasing a live lobster. He really wanted to get some seafood during our trip and also that the vacation rental we are staying in has a good size steamer in the kitchen and figured it would be good to cook it while we are here. For lobster and crabs, you pick the one you want and place it in one of the plastic baskets, then you can bring it up to the employee behind the seafood counter and they will weight it for you, bag it and place a price sticker on it for you. I like that there is a self check out area, as the line for that went by so much faster than the other lines. Overall, a positive experience and would frequent this location if I lived here.

I love to cook. So much good stuff to choose from. Even veg. Here, I can find my hot peppers. Sesame oil. Noodle heaven. Deli. Bakery. Fish. Meat counter. Duck. Shellfish. Odd snacks. All of it gets me excited. I had a croissant from there this morning. I like how each bakery item is individually wrapped. Yummy. France quality, no. But, delicious. Prices were more than reasonable and the cashier was sweet. I'd say the only part I skip is the beauty area but all of this store is interesting. Exotic. I dunno, 5 stars from me. Lots of parking too. We closed the place down at 10pm and I cannot wait to return.

For everyone that is sensitive or isn't used to the fresh fish smell, you might want to consider waiting outside if you're accompanying someone, or you can always just decide to grin and bear it. Personally, the smell doesn't bother me. Since there is so much ice to keep the seafood fresh, the floors are often wet, so watch your step! I came here to buy sushi-grade salmon because I had such a craving for sashimi and I didn't feel like going to a restaurant. The prices aren't too bad, and I found it to be a fairly good deal for my salmon at the time. The fish was fresh and was of good quality, and it really hit the spot!

At first, it was a bit unclear as there is a near-by location of "Lapointe Fish" that is really a restaurant but we finally found this one with is a fish market. The choice is not as wide as we use to in "La Mer" in Montreal and we found that prices for oysters were a bit higher. That said, they had a fair choice of fresh ones and we were happy with the results. They were not very helpful in helping us choosing (recommending the obvious choices) and were not encline to let us try it first. A good place for fish and seafood if you are around but not the best that we had.

The Long Version: My parents first introduced me to Green Fresh when they only had one location (the OG that was on Selkirk, that has since closed down). It was dingy and run down, but had lots of Asian ingredients that they were looking for. And it was the closest Asian grocery store to where they lived. They were thrilled when it moved to McArthur and had a total facelift, it was new, bright and clean. Green Fresh then opened a second location in Nepean on Merivale, closer to my neck of the woods. Then in January 2025, they opened this third location in Kanata/Stittsville. It's in the Grant Crossing, where the Bed, Bath and Beyond used to be (next to the Value Village). This newest location is very similar to the Nepean location. It even has the same bubble tea vendor inside (Y-Not Go For Tea). Which is a bit funny because the first Y-Not Go For Tea location is inside the Hunt Club T&T and T&T and Green Fresh are competitors! The Vanier Green Fresh has a different bubble tea vendor though: World Tea House. I visited this Kanata/Stittsville location shortly after opening, so maybe they don't have all their stuff together yet because although they have a section labelled "Bakery" they didn't have any baked goods :( However, they do have a prepared food section. It's self-serve and you pay by the weight ($2.29 per 100g). They also have a counter where they make Jianbing, Chinese crepes. There was a huge line up for these when I went, so they are definitely popular. They have lots of items, including snacks (my favourite aisles), lol. Most of the products are from China, but they have items from other countries too. They had Kracie DIY gummy kits imported from Japan. And they were only $4.99. The west end is now flush with Asian grocery stores (T&T, Kowloon, now Green Fresh, and soon Sunny Food Mart) compared to the east end (to my parents' chagrin). I'd say the prices here are the lowest generally speaking. However, the prepared foods did not look as appetizing to me as at the other Asian grocery stores. Free parking in the plaza parking lot. The produce is right at the entrance where we picked up a coconut and kumquat (which is a citrus but completely edible, peel and all). It was so much fun browsing the snacks and chips. While I didn't purchase any, the condiment aisle was heaven and they has everything from vinegars to oils. They have so many frozen food items like dumplings, korean dogs (filled with cheese), and ice creams. I was most excited to check out the bakery but there was not much of a selection. Fellow yelper, the amazing, Jennifer.P sums up the bakery section very well. The prepared food section was slim the night we went, and it looked like they were out of a lot of items. The refrigerated section was also sparse and maybe they did not have time to stock it up after the weekend (we went on a Monday evening around 7pm). I loved that they had plenty of vegetarian items like veggie jerky found in the chips aisle, and puffed tofu in the refrigerated aisle. While T&T blows it out of the water in terms of prepared items and their bakery, Green Fresh has some amazing shelf stable hard to find items.

Most products from China, but I saw items imported from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand as well. The Long Version: I've been awaiting the opening of this grocery store ever since I saw the sign go up back in March of 2024. Their grand opening was October 19, 2024. I went the day after and have been back once since then. I've been to the Green Fresh on McArthur Ave and in fact have been to the original location when it was still on Selkirk St before it moved to McArthur. It was dingy and not the cleanest when it was on Selkirk, but when it moved to McArthur it cleaned up its act and became a place that was much more enjoyable to shop at. This second location on Merivale is even better. So big, bright and clean. I enjoyed looking at their chips and candies, lol. They also have hot foods and prepared sushi. They have a "Cake" section, but it's not a bakery with traditional cakes. It's just some packaged Swiss Rolls-type cakes and I think packaged mini Japanese-style cheesecakes. Their bakery section is all prepackaged items as well, mostly Filipino items like pandesal and also bread from Grey Matlock Bakery (Nigerian breads - not Asian at all, but hey I embrace inclusivity, lol). Their hot foods section has mostly Chinese food and some Indian food (samosas and I think I saw some pakoras as well). It's by the weight and you serve yourself then they weigh it and you pay at the prepared foods counter. The seafood section is in a separate room, so it really cuts down on the smell. In fact, I didn't notice any fish smell while in the store (I did not enter the "seafood room."). Service was satisfactory. Not super friendly, but not rude. Just neutral. The grocery store is where the Bad Boy Furniture used to be. It was a Future Shop before that. And for a few Halloween seasons it was a Spirit Halloween. There's lots of free parking in the parking lot out front. (198)
